Ordered to hoagies for 5 bucks a piece. The were a nice size. Gonna be back. Gonna check out the breakfast sandwiches. Would of been 5 stars iif the bakery products were presented better and the whole place could use a deep cleaning.

Damn good bagel. And I don’t know what kind of cream cheese they put on it, but it wasn’t messing around, either. There was just one guy working in here(one of the D’s, I guess) and he was pulling all sorts of stuff out of the ovens. It was 8:30 in the morning, but he had a fresh pizza sitting out because apparently there are a lot of shift workers around looking for dinner that time of day. My dad and I were only interested in breakfast, so we got the bagels, but couldn’t resist some of the turnovers and other pastries beckoning from the counter. And before we left, D threw a bunch of piping-hot rolls in a bag for us for free, just because. The menu is extensive, with bread, bagels, pizza, sandwiches(subs, bacon and egg, sausage, pork, etc.), pastries, cakes and probably much more. Go read Nando’s review on this page. That was basically the same experience we had. Friendly owner, great food.

I was in town from Denver to visit a power plant job site I am working on. Stopped in and not only was the staff hospitable for this out of town visitor, but the food was great especially the homemade breads and pastries. Adding this stop to the list when I am back in town.

Just found this place. Been there 3 times in two weeks and have been charged different amounts each time for the same thing. How can a hoagie be $ 16, $ 14 and then. $ 20? The time I was charged $ 20 barely any meat — made by the mrs. Same thing with the rolls. Charged different prices each time. No way to run a bsiness

My husband and I stumbled upon this business on our way from NH to visit our daughter in VA. We didn’t want to eat on the turnpike, so Unilocal led us to D & D. The minute I saw the baskets of fresh, REAL Italian bread, I knew we were in the right place. Doug, the owner, called at us from the back of the store, asking us to sit down and get comfortable. I had to have that bread, so I ordered a turkey sandwich. Boar’s Head cold cuts are served, and the sandwich was generously filled and satisfying. My husband ordered a chicken Caesar salad, and what he was served was what we figured was Doug’s version of a Caesar salad. Along with the Romaine lettuce was giardiniera(Italian marinated vegetables and peppers) and freshly grilled marinated chicken breast. It was quite filling and delicious. All the while, Doug kept up a lively conversation with us, and when we left, he gave us a loaf of bread to bring to our daughter! If you’re anywhere in the area, make it a point to get to D & D. Highly recommended.

Another good recommended business from my friend Nando here. I walked in late in the afternoon to an extremely friendly owner. I placed an order for a medium Italian hoagie and we continued to talk as if we had previously known each other for awhile. Inside you’re gonna find plenty of fresh baked goods. Breads, rolls, bagels, donuts… And cannoli shells. The donuts were pillow soft on the inside with a slight crisp on the outside, just like a good donut should… On to the not so small medium hoagie I got. Piled high with meat and made just the way you like it… It took me forever to eat this thing. Eating a little here and there… roughly 7 hours.lol. But the fact that I finished it all tells just how good it was. This bakery/deli is a good addition to the Town of Paulsboro.

Now I am Italian, I love a great bread, no not that garbage you buy in the grocery stores that is mass produced with no taste to it, but truly a great fresh baked bread. That outer crust, that great crunch you feel once you bite down to that soft middle mixing around as you enjoy. Is there anything else better than that? No and especially if it just came out of the oven still hot with an inviting aroma screaming at you to just break me open spread some Nutella on me ! I am sorry but words can’t express how unbelievably perfect, no sorry great that is. I have had the pleasure of experiencing this several times, once when my mother would make loaves upon loaves every month, to also while in Italy. Nothing compares to this, with fresh figs from the tree outside spread over top, to fresh olive oil NOTHING I say. Then out of the blue this little shop appears in my neighborhood, with that smell I know all so well. I go to Carlino’s a lot just for that one sole purpose, now I have this at my door step. Trust me we are getting to the point, just my infatuation with bread gets the better of me. I go in and first thing I take notice to is the mountain of cannoli’s and pastries to my left and a faint voice of a «Yo Cuz, whatcha need?» I thought what is this we got over here, a transplant from South Philly with fresh baked breads from small loaves to giants, seeded to unseeded! So I finally found the voice behind the larger than life cannoli shell known as Doug. Doug is part owner, but this has a twist to it, he is not from South Philly, seeing I had asked him. I got the attitude right, but the city wrong, Doug is from New York and he brought his own style, or flavor I should say as the head baker. This guy is great, charismatic with the whole«New York is better than this guy, that guy«routine. Doug says it like it is he isn’t afraid to say it with a few«F» bombs in the middle. I personally like that, was I offended, hell no, it felt comforting in some odd way. To know someone like this is gonna tell you straight up what’s what. Is he right about there is nothing around here that can compare to his bread? Your damn right there isn’t, you would have to go to South Philly to try to match up to his skills. The breakfast sandwich’s alone are nothing but delicious. That crust, that dough mixed with how he does things. yea nothing compares. He also makes fresh bagels, always replenished and always soft inside with a nice crust on the outside. I have yet to peruse the hoagies he makes, because I am hooked on breakfast, but soon enough I will. I also have had the pleasure of meeting Ms Donna, the other owner, Misses D! She is not like Doug, she is more subtle and sweet, not as harsh, upbeat tempo like Doug. This is the ying and yang factor, olive oil to vinegar, no they don’t mesh, always separated, but oh so good when combined. I love it ! This little spot makes you want to come back in again and again. The deli portion of it with the selections doesn’t look like it’s fully stocked, but they have all the important Italian meats. In my opinion yes they are fully stocked and ready to dish some sandwiches out. I also love that they sell Mascarpone here, this is great for any Italian desserts that call for it. Doug runs this spot efficiently, its is clean, they do have a few booths for you to sit and enjoy a meal. Fresh coffee at all times, plus sit and watch the man do his thing. I am a repeat customer, already I have informed my cousin and fellow neighbors about this spot. D&D should be here for a while, nothing can match what they are putting out there. Now go in there and enjoy eat a cannoli !
