Awesome place! It’s $ 20 per hour per lane. My boyfriend went on Valentine’s for a cute date. We had a few drinks, and it was awesome how it made you feel like you took a step back in time.

This place was a ton of fun! Despite my lackluster bowling game, i had an awesome time! The rustic ambiance, good food(from Blaze downstairs) good drinks… it was a great date spot! I highly recommend giving this place a shot!

The details; $ 20 per hour per lane Decent tap list at reasonable prices(craft draughts about $ 6 and ‘ganset is $ 4) Didn’t try any food Attentive bar-tenders and pin setters I like this place and do plan to go back. Great location in Hope Artiste Village that has easy parking(extra lot in the back). I would give 5 stars but $ 20 is a tad steep per hour(on top of the tip for the pin-setters). I guess if I was going other people we would probably split a 2 hour window. Other than that I like this place.

What do you get when you combine a refurbished bowling alley that’s nearly 100 years old with a good resataurant? You get ‘Breaktime’! I was so glad to find this place just above the venue we were at on tour in Pawtucket. Nice room, great bartender, good food! To top it off they were playing the Big Lebowski on the TV! Local micro brews on tap were yummy. I hope this place makes it and is still happening when I’m back in Pawtucket next year!

Fun place. Great beer selection. Kinda tough to find if you don’t know where it is. Old school bowling at it’s finest.

Something different in Rhode Island, finally. Out of the ordinary, roomy and fun. Good selection of craft beer and specialty cocktails. Tried a burger and fries and it was better than average. A+, I dig it

I’m so happy that I found this hidden gem. Duckpin bowling is something that I had never experienced. My first time was so much fun! Great service, music & atmosphere. I will most definitely be returning. P. S. Don’t forget to tip your pin setter(:

Disappointed and embarrassed. I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a few months now and thought it would be something fun to do with my friends who were visiting from PA. We arrived at 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon and the door was locked. No one was around even though they were suppose to open at noon. There wasn’t a sign on the door, nor anything on their Facebook page informing of a closure. Even tried knocking on the door and calling their number but only got put on hold listening to crappy music. I am extremely disappointed and feel embarrassed since it was my responsibility to entertain my friends for the weekend.

This is such a unique little place on the third floor of Hope Artists Village! Our group reserved the entire bowling ally for the night and we had a lot of fun! This is bowling the old fashioned way, so be prepared to wait for teenagers to reset your pins every time(they’re a lot faster than you’d think) and also bring someone who actually knows how to keep score. The bar had a very diverse selection of about 20 beers. I got a sampling of just about everything on the menu: veggie platter, pizza strips, wings etc. What impressed me the most was the pita bread dipped in hummus. It was warm and toasted just enough and sprinkled with some garlic salt. Definitely worth a try!

I didn’t bowl. To be honest I was a little weirded out by the thought of having some teenage boy looking at his phone while sitting on a table between two lanes waiting to set pins back up. It seemed a bit too distracting. Maybe it’s different when they are busier but I was there on a Saturday afternoon. There were about 9 draft beer options. None of which are listed on their printed menu and they are scattered around. They were not the typical beers you find so that was nice. The bottle list was pretty long… at least for what I was expecting. They also had a nicely stocked bar and, speaking of the bar, it was comfortable and spacious. We ordered nachoes. They reminded me of something a frat boy might make. Thick(cheap seeming) chips, heavy on the cheese(which I’m almost positive was mozzarella), a few black beans, a small scoop of tomatoes or salsa and a huge blob of sour cream and guacamole that was an army green color. They weren’t horrible– they just weren’t gourmet and this place looks so nice that I sortof expected something more fancy. The bowling price was $ 20/hour. I see others noting that it was only 15 when they went. I don’t know if the price went up as a seasonal thing or if it just went up. The bartender did show us a list of specials that will be starting after Memorial Day weekend. Each night will have a different happy-hourish thing going on from 4−7pm. If I remember correctly, a couple nights were half price bowling and half price appetizers.

Experience Bowling unplugged. That’s right acoustic Bowling comes to the hope artiste village. This is the ultimate hipster, vintage bowling; the pins are set by a pinsetter, score is kept by your own creative math keeping and the balls are returned to you via the aforementioned pinsetter… those folks work hard(don’t forget to tip them). I have visited now a few times and eaten there once and I love it. Retro celebrity bowling on the tv — great music, thinking the seed artist was the XX(appropriate, double strike). The food is made by the bread lab so the burgers are totally killer and the full bar makes some very creative cocktails. I have seen a few families and teens there but really this is a grown up place for that great answer to the«what to do tonight?» When you don’t feel like just sitting at a bar. Bowl, Eat, Drink

While I was only here for a short time it’s easy to see why this place has become such a huge hit! With the California flare of a hip bar /restaurant, and the east coasts rustic interior for the alley and bar — this place is awesome! This is the perfect place if you’re looking for tasty food, great music [which can be loud as this is a more young and trendy place], and bowling! Not to mention the fact that the alleys are old school, and people are at the end to load up your pins [not no machines here!] The bar and sitting area are comfy with roof top views… or views of the roof haha! There’s high top seating and cushy couches, what ever you and your group are looking for there’s many seating choices. While the bowling area looks fun I didn’t have a chance to play for myself; doesn’t look like you’d need to rent shoe either! This is definitely somewhere I’d like to visit again and take advantage of all that this place has to offer!

I never wanted to love a place a place as much as this before actually going to visit. I used to go duckpin bowling growing up so when I heard about Breaktime Bowl & Bar I knew I had to bring my whole family. Going to Breaktime is like stepping back in history. Other than the updated bar, some modern furniture & old clips of bowling tournaments on flat screen TV’s it looks like the place was untouched. Yes, the 6 lanes show ware & are not automated but that’s part of the charm. It could be just me but I found duckpin bowling a little challenging but maybe I’m just rusty after not playing in 30 years? You don’t need to change shoes like regular bowling as the lanes aren’t greased. There are live people setting up the pins & getting you the bowling balls back to you which can take a bit but it didn’t deter us from having fun. There is a food menu available from the Bread Lab downstairs but I’m not a fan of eating & bowling. What I saw delivered to the other lanes did look good & my wife mentioned more than once that we should’ve eaten here instead of our lunch experience earlier that day! They also offer a fully stocked bar &4 beer taps to imbibe while waiting for your lane or after you roll. It’s definitely family friendly during the day but I can’t vouch for the night time. We are already planning on coming back. Definitely reserve a lane. I had to contact them a few times before having someone get back to me about my lane reservation but everything worked out. I could easily leave 5 stars but feel like they’re still sorta working things out & need to improve in a few areas before I leave one more star BUT they are so close.

I’ve been here several times since the opening & really enjoyed myself despite the review to follow. I really want to like this place but the management is making it difficult to do so. You’ve got such a great idea, awesome location and a lot of people like me who jump at the idea of supporting this establishment. When you’ve got that much going for you, you cannot skimp on customer service. Instead of shoving flyers in people’s faces without an introduction and serving beer in a wine glass,(yes a long stem wine glass not a tulip glass), without a word of apology, remember who pays your bills. They deserve kindness and respect. I want to be clear that my experience with the staff, both at the bar and on the lanes, has been exceptional. The management lacks a sense of pride and accountability.

How fun is this place?! I want to go every weekend! Duckpin bowling with that old-timey feel. It’s on the top floor of the Hope Artiste Village and is just too cool. They have people resetting your pins for you. I was a bit skeptical about this, but the people doing it were fast. My friends and I had soooo much fun and the atmosphere was great. Love that they have a bar with a good selection rather than just your typical Bud Light at other bowling alleys. Definitely call for a reservation, and you usually get a lane for one to one and a half hours depending on the list. And don’t forget to tip the people setting your pins! One drawback is that the only food available is from The Bread Lab which I’m not the biggest fan of, so I suggest eating before. Unsure if they allow you to bring in your own food(I did see people bringing in a cake for a birthday though)

This place is legit right up my alley! I was so excited when I heard that a bowling alley was being restored on the 3rd floor in the Hope Artiste mill building. And when a group of us went the other night, it was as if you were transported back in time for one of the coolest retro bowling experiences. I love how they kept the old vintage look of the lanes, classic candlepin style and even have employees at the end of each lane manually resetting pins and sending the balls back on a return for the next persons turn. They also have you keep score the old fashioned way with a paper scorecard and pencil. Also, it’s only $ 15 per hour for each lane(really inexpensive if you got with 4 or more people). The space is topped off with a nice long bar off to the side(good selection of beers, wine and mixed drinks to choose from) and a lounge area with comfy chairs and couches. They also have a pub style menu with food supplied from the Bread Lab downstairs which I thought was a great idea. I know this place is new and is a hidden gem at this point but once word gets out, I feel like Breaktime will become a popular bar and bowling destination in Pawtucket. All the elements of this place come together in such a cool and unique way, and I already can’t wait to come back and experience it all over again.

This place rocks so. damn. hard. I grew up on ten-pin bowling in the Midwest, have dabbled in the occasional candlepin in Boston, but this was my first foray into duckpin. Short, squat pins more similar to ten pin, but three rolls for each round like in candlepin, with balls sized similarly but just slightly weightier than the more skee-ball like candlepin balls. A nice halfway point for ten pin v. candlepin defenders, but a truly special regional experience all on its own. The price is right — just $ 15 for a round on a lane, and a range of really cheap to nicer beers. The space is gooorgeous, rustically industrial, and the staff resetting our pins after each person’s turn were engaged and added a ton of character to the space, making the experience interactive and manual. We’ll come back down from Boston again and make this a specific destination, and I recommend you get there before the secret’s out, because it’s about to be the hottest hipster joint in New England.

It’s hard not to feel like you’ve stumbled into greater Providence’s Narnia — an unknown, undiscovered, spectacular world of an original 1920s duckpin bowling alley. Endless charm, major wow factor, and delightfully laid back. Originally built for the mill workers, it’s been dormant for decades. Until now. 6 lanes of manual duck pin bowling. Stunning simplicity in the décor with the exposed bricks and beams — the natural beauty of the space speaks for itself. Long bar, beautiful leather couches, and high top tables for lounging and viewing the lanes. Admittedly the place lacks a comprehensive theme, is temporarily dependent upon the kitchen at Bread Lab, and is entirely too gray in color. But it’s a vibrant work in progress as physical stuff like a pool table, darts, and art continue to fill the space. Breaktime has endless possibility as an event space and group experience. Check it out before a show at The Met, during the Wintertime Farmer’s Market, or as a stand alone because it’s totally awesome.
