I booked a night here recently because it was close to Knoebels. The place is 2 miles from Knoebels. The outside if the building needs a make over. The big attraction for the place is the bar. 6 pack of Budweiser for $ 7.50 The room needed to be vacuumed and had a musty smell. The ceiling had a huge water stain and there were hairs in the tub. The toilet cover was cracked. The refrigerator and microwave looked new and worked fine. Beds were comfortable. The air conditioner worked but I had to clean the two filters on it, it probably had never been cleaned before. The free breakfast was limited to some pastries, bagels, cereal(in a dispenser), milk, juice and coffee. The tables were dirty, dried up orange juice on our table. In fact the next day when I went to breakfast the juice was still there. I cleaned it up. The grounds had cigarette butts everywhere. Too bad this place was run down because it is so close to Knoebels.

Could not quite put my finger on the smell when I registered. It was a combination of Indian curry and moldy carpets. Rooms are filthy, poor or no internet service, and only luke warm water. Owner likes to argue with customers — claims the place is just fine!!! Maybe it’s just like the one he had in Calcutta. This place is overpriced at any room rate !

I was recently planning a trip to Shamokin with my boyfriend for a few days. Last time I was in town, I stayed at the Wayside Inn, but since we were arriving on Easter and they were not going to be open, I called the 2nd closest place, which is the Glosser Motor Inn. Concerned we would have no place to stay, I hastily made a reservation when they said they would be open. Normally, I do more research before hand, but I guess I panicked. I hung up and googled reviews on the GMI and was immediately a little nervous. There were reviews that mentioned bed bugs, but they were several years old so I hoped things had changed. Then I looked at Unilocal and saw reviews from this year claiming the same thing. We decided we would check in and examine the room thoroughly before we brought any of our stuff in and I would eat the cost if there really was a problem. When we pulled up there were no cars in the lot and I thought there had been some confusion. Luckily it was all good and there was someone there to check us in — the owner I believe. He gave us our key and directed us to our room(#108). We opened the door and I was relieved to see everything seemed like a typical older, budget priced motel. We pulled back the sheets to examine the mattresses for signs of bugs and were pleased to find the mattresses looked new! I noticed the carpet also looked new or at least very clean and the walls looked freshly painted! The furniture and tv were older, but functional and totally acceptable for a room that only cost $ 65.39/night. The room was clean and my only minor issue was the water pressure in the shower, but it was doable. The owner asked if we wanted a smoking or non smoking room. We took non smoking and even though the smoking rooms were only a few doors down, there was no stale cigarette smell in the hallway or our room. There was even a mini fridge and microwave! The first night it was just us and the owners as far as I could tell, but the next night about 6 other cars showed up. We had no issues with noise or anything else either night we stayed there. I don’t know if they’ve remodeled recently, but we did not have any of the problems mentioned in previous reviews and would stay there again. Based on our experience, I think what we got was very fair for the price. Basically, don’t expect the Ritz, but don’t turn your nose up at the GMI if you need an affordable place to stay in the area. Also, the owner’s family(again I am assuming) was around during the day and had the cutest little boy who would drive his little power wheels convertible around the lot and when my boyfriend went out to pay for our second night, the kid greeted him with an adorable, «Hi, customer!» Gotta love a family business :)

STAYAWAY. This dump looks and feels like it is abandoned. The windows in the rooms are cracked, and the side entrance has no door knob so anyone can enter. There were maybe 3 cars in the parking lot. Eerie, dimly lit rooms. We were in the area to visit Knoebels and had rented a few rooms, but it was so disgusting in this motel that we escaped in the middle of the night and went to the Red Roof Inn, which was actually cheaper and infinitely better, as well as close to the park and places to eat. There is no reason to stay here. It is absolutely disgusting. Stay away!!!

The dude who said you’d be better off sleeping in your car is 10,000% correct. On the hotel side of things, you simply cannot find a more disgusting place than the GMI. Everything is old and dirty; dirty sheets, filthy bathrooms, mold, bed bugs — you name it, the GMI has it in spades! The hotel has a bar that some of the locals like to hang out at. It is a small room that is filled to the brim with cigarette smoke. Place actually has a decent bartender, but unless you’re a smoker, you may not be able to spend very long here. Hotel — 1 star Bar — 2 stars

Do not stay here, it’s a dump. You would be better off sleeping in your car in their parking lot, then you wouldn’t have to worry about filth and bed bugs.
