Best fish and chips I’ve had in AZ. However, please switch to hand cut fries! I’ll be back, but I’ll bring my own potato!

Happened upon Mike’s while driving through Payson. These are some the best fish & chip’s I’ve had in the state. Will definitely stop again the next time. PS the hush puppies are excellent.

Excellent for seafood in the middle of the desert. Fish and chips very good with crispy with good flavor. Not a lot of options for non seafood and heavy fish smell in restaurant. Clean. Hard to find as in little atrip mall. Look for the dairy Queen and it is across the street. If you are looking for something different from typical tourist trap, can’t miss with this place.

We stopped in for lunch. My husband had the fish tacos which were delicious. I had the fish sandwich with cheese which had just the right amount of sauce. The fish is great, lightly battered and flaky inside. The French fries were cooked perfect with just the right amount of crunch. And of course the hush puppies were awesome too. Very clean and cute inside and the staff was super friendly. We’ll be back for sure!

I love Mike’s Fish & Chips. The fish is always tender & fresh with the perfect crunch, the fried clams & shrimp are also tender & fresh, the fries are the best I have had in a long time, perfectly cooked & if you an ice muncher, they have the best which are small soft round pieces. The atmosphere is comfortable & the employee’s are very friendly.

Everytime I’m in Payson I HAVE to stop here for lunch! I always get the fried fish sandwich with cheese, a side of fries, and a large root beer. The fish is fresh, tasty, juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The fries are delicious and seasoned, also they have the BEST root beer I have ever had.(I always get a refill before I leave) When you go to Mike’s fish and chips, you receive top quality food for an afforable price. Also they just started serving chicken sandwiches which are also amazing. You would be crazy not to come in and atleast try it!

By far the best fish & chips meal I’ve ever had. The fish and fries were very crispy and the sauces tasted freshly made. I also recommend the coleslaw. Other than the food, the atmosphere was pleasant, the staff was really nice and the restrooms were cleans.

Ordered Togo. Great food and service. Highly recommend. Batter-fried fish sandwich was like I can get in MN and the fries were great and crispy. Nice seating area with an aquarium!

I am always ready for fish and chips. Grew up in New England so no surprise there. The surprise was that the fish here was awesome. Cooked perfectly, juicy, good batter. They even have malted vinegar. Cole slaw was very good also. Comfortable and easy place to sit and enjoy our meal. The staff was smiling and looked like they were enjoying working there. Hope they are here for many years to come. P. S. I wonder if their take-out comes wrapped in newspaper, like the old days. :-)

Pretty solid place to check out. Fish and chips were excellent and the shrimp was good as well. Price was very reasonable. Décor was nice and the staff was friendly. Do yourself a favor and swing by for a local place that has it going on.

After hiking near the Rim we were craving some fish and chips. A search on Unilocal suggested Mike’s. There wasn’t a sign on the street so it was a little hard to find. That would be our biggest suggestion– a sign on the street. Everyone was super friendly, atmosphere was very inviting and the food was good. I couldn’t eat all my shrimp but my husband was happy to finish it off for me. We will be back!

First timer, this is the kind of family eatery you want to support. I loved the décor and warm fisherman feel for a quick bite of Fish & Chips. Everything was fresh fried and that is a MUST. I didn’t mind waiting about 7 – 10 min for my food because I could tell it came fresh from the fryer. The fish was flakey and fresh, as were the shrimp. Great crispy batter-style chips(fries). The staff was friendly and kind, and everyone wished be a great day as I left. Suggestions(To the proprietors, you may take or leave them): The shrimp batter is THICK, maybe a PANKO option in the future? It would be a great idea to explore some unique sauces, the tartar was acceptable, but a lighter, perhaps«artisan» recipe would make your place stand out. Additional custom quality sauces would help. Good luck and everyone stop by Mike’s Fish and Chips!
