MY Husband and I went to Payson for a wedding. With exception to the wedding it was a frustrating experience. This town is not in tune with the hospitality industry. Over priced hotels with little to offer in comparison to like and similar in other small towns, Staff at Hotels does not seem familiar with events or going on’s in the area despite some of them living there, service anywhere seems to be slow and incompetent, lacking attention to detail which is the last thing you need if you are trying to go there to get away from the hassles of the city. I just experienced hassels with people that did not seem to know what they were doing and did not seem to care. I travel quite a bit but stay mostly in three star hotels which are a combo of self service yet have basic ammenities. My expectations are in line with the average hotel or visitors experience I think. Myself along with a few other visitors for the wedding awoke on Sunday and got out of dodge as quickly as possible. My husband and I decided to not even stop for breakfast after finding it nearly impossible to get a cup of coffee at the local starbucks in the Safeway next door. For a town that seems like it could do better with a little more tourism, Payson your gonna have to step it up!

We spent a day in Payson, driving up and down the Beeline Hwy and Main St shopping at antique and thrift stores. I guess we were expecting more since our friends highly recommended us to drive up and check it out. However, the town didn’t do much for us. We prefer other small towns in AZ that have more food choices and a livelier town center… this town is a little too sleepy for our tastes. Return Factor — 50%
