My fiancé and I grabbed lunch at Susie’s Q Barbecue yesterday and it did not disappoint! We each got a regular sized pork sandwich and we split the beans and coleslaw. The regular sandwich was HUGE! Neither of us could finish them. I got the sweet sauce and he got the bold. Both yummy with a hint of apple taste(especially good on the pork!), and we found out from the owner they’re all homemade weekly. Sides were also both great, fresh, and full of flavor. We will definitely be stopping back here next time we are in Payson!

Let’s me start by saying Suzie is a character! Super friendly! Quaint little place with HUGE sandwiches. We had the pork and beef, both delicious and loaded with meat. I had the sweet sauce and my husband had the bold, both great. The beans were fantastic and the cole slaw is fresh and tasty. Fun time and great food. A little pricy at $ 25 for lunch, but since we both have half a sandwich left for dinner, a good value.

Susie’s BBQ never disappoints. Consistently great food and friendly customer service! David & Susie and their staff are always welcoming and the restaurant décor is cozy and cute too. The cole slaw and beans are my absolute favorite that I have tried and thanks to Susie I now mix the 2 together and all I can say is you need to try this combo! Prices are good too for the portions you get, two people can easily share a lunch meal.

Outstanding smoked meat! Pulled pork, ribs, and tri-tip, and great people! The new smoker ensures food after noon, but don’t be late!

They close the shop as soon as the meat sold out, finally we got there early enough at the 4th time, it was the best BBQ, like the baby ribs.

Local, delicious, and quirky… loved it! Awesome pulled pork, beans, cole slaw. Basically everything we tried was delicious. Very reasonably priced and large portions.

Good pulled pork and beef. The ribs were smoked to perfection. The portions were very large and more than a good value, very tender and moist. I would skip the sweet version of her sauce as it tasted of pancake syrup and was so viscous you could not scoop any out of the serving cup. It would just slither back before it would cling to a utensil. The bold sauce was very tasty, classic smokehouse style. The beans might have been ranch style canned beans doctored with sautéed onions and some bbq sauce. They were good but I perfer homemade. The coleslaw was light and refreshing and an excellent foil against the rich smoked meats. All of us felt like a little salt could go a long way in both the meat and the slaw, luckily she provides packets with all orders and her style of seasoning highlights the quality of the meat and expertise in the cooking. In a big city she would get three stars, in Payson it is a solid 4. You should eat here before you consider any of the chains in town and I am glad I did.

While in Payson from Phoenix getting away from the 110 plus degree heat I stopped in to check out what had the whole city smelling good. I had the pulled pork sandwich with beans and the Cole slaw. The meat was smoked just right and was very tender. The BBQ sauces that you get with your meal were good, 3.5 stars out of 5. The beans were excellent and the Cole slaw could be better but was still good. Nothing against the slaw, I find that most people have there own preference when it comes to slaw. Over all I give a 4 star and would tell anyone who asked to try the place out. Will I repeat? Yes I will come back.

Two days ago, my husband and I discovered the EIGHTHWONDEROFTHEWORLD! We have lived 30 miles from Payson, where Susie’s is located, for many years, and until Friday, had never stopped in, because we tend to go to Payson later in the day. It was early afternoon and we were hungry, so, on a whim, gambled and sped over to Susie’s. THEGODSWERESMILING on us, as we managed to snag the last 2 pork sandwiches! Imagine, if you can, the world’s finest smoked meats, served by the cheeriest, most friendly proprietor you’ve ever encountered. It’s like stepping directly into heaven! That sandwich of mouth-watering pork was piled SO high, and the BBQ sauce it was served with was out of this world. We can’t recommend Susie’s barbecue enough, but will say this: If you haven’t had Susie’s BBQ, you haven’t lived! This is a mandatory stop if you’re passing through Payson, or you’re lucky enough to live there! Their days of operation and«open until sold out» policy are well known by the locals, and well-advertised. We don’t feel bad for folks who miss out because they’re too lazy to read about how Susie’s operates.. . we’d be quite happy to keep her to ourselves!

Well let me say dont don’t hesitate if you have a hankering for a good pulled pork. Susie has it down. My husband & daughters & I have been visiting her for several years. All we can say is yum — and there is NEVER any leftovers. Only problem is get there early. Word is out on the street, she sells out. I have gotten there late & have had to settle on the chicken(dont get me wrong — its good, but the ribs are to die for). We haven’t been there since that big pink smoker went up — so maybe she will have more stock throughtout the day — we can hope… We have picked up lunch and taken it up to Tonto bridge a few times.

Lovely place. The décor in this place is very eye catching and fun, the staff is friendly and fun, but the food is amazing! My husband and I went for a lunch date and had the pulled pork sandwich combos and oh my goodness, delicious! The giant pig smoker makes the experience even more fun! I actually had the privilege to watch it be built, due to the work was done next to my own business. I highly recommend this food to all the locals and visitors.

The absolute BEST smoked meat I’ve ever had! I got the beef siders and the hubby got the smoked pork plate with coleslaw and smoked baked beans. The bold and the sweet sauces are really tasty and good consistency. Everything was amazing and the people there are so friendly. Plus it smells incredible outside and in. What’s better than delicious BBQ?! Do yourself a favor and stop at this place. You will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back to this spot! Thanks for the excellent eats!

Food was fantastic. Smells so good as you drive by with the smoker going. I had the beef sandwich which was tender, juicy, and had a great smokey flavor. I tried the bold BBQ sauce which had a great unique flavor. I’ll definitely be going back.

My wife and I stopped by here yesterday on the way to hike. The smoker was billowing out front so we turned around to grab a quick bite. We shared a large pulled pork sandwich which was smokey, moist and a healthy portion. Enough for the two of us to share. Excellently prices and a high quality, smokey meat. Very friendly, clean and cute environment with inside and outside seating. Great job Susie and family! I often complain that I can not taste the smoke in most people’s «authentic» smoked meats but not here… perfect!

The best part was the BBQ sauce — thick and great flavor. Plenty of meat on the sandwich. The beans were fantastic too — definitely home cooked and not from a can. Large sandwich, beans, and a soda for around $ 10 – 12. Couldn’t see any bathrooms on the premise. Very little seating as well.
