I’ve had both their pastries and bread. Both were fantastic. The rolls that I’ve had from there are the best that I’ve had locally. The pastries are rich without being too heavy. I’d highly recommend checking them out.

In an old area on Walnut St. off downtown Peabody. Delicious breads(will slice for you), pastries, donuts all made right there. They have a huge bakery out back because they also distribute bread locally to convenient stores and supermarkets. Girls in front are very nice and easy parking along Walnut St. No better place to go on a Sunday morning to pick up a bakery treat!

This place is really good for what it is. I know that doesn’t sound like much of an introduction, but c’mon, we have to be realistic here, don’t we? We can’t expect a suburban American bakery to be a Parisian sidewalk café… wait, I suppose we do expect that. Well, I guess what I mean to say is that this is a perfectly lovely Portuguese bakery, and if you go here you will find the things that you find at a Portuguese bakery – not things that you’d find at a chic European-style café, or at a modern cupcake boutique. The sign outside looks like it’s about a hundred years old, and it might scare off the undetermined. But don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Inside are some the the most delicious, light and airy, yet oh-so-crusty loaves and rolls of bread on the North Shore. Once you’ve gotten a taste for them, you can always tell which bakery they came from because Central makes their bread so tender and light on the inside, while still maintaining a very nice crust. Not much atmosphere, it’s really just a carry-out place. But, the next time it’s your turn to pick up hamburger buns, think about a run instead to Central Bakery. Their rolls are oh-so-tasty with burgers, and they’re very reasonably priced.
