Just came back from picking up a crown roast of pork. I called at 5:30pm in a panic because I had forgotten to order one for Christmas dinner. The butcher«George» told me not to worry, that he could have one all set for pick up if I got there by 6pm when they close. When I arrived, the place was spotless and the staff was so friendly. My 14-rib rack of pork was already prepared for me and bagged nicely — the bones frenched, and the whole thing already tied in a perfect crown. To top it off, they have a small but solid wine and beer selection, which meant I was able to check another errand off my list! I will definitely be back. On a side note, this experience was expotentially different than the service we attempted to get at McKinnon’s in Danvers earlier in the day. My husband was there today looking at their meat selection and left because it was utter chaos and he couldnt get anyone’s attention to be helped. I attempted after that to reach them by phone and was put on hold for 10 minutes 3 separate times. Alas, I am glad I found my new butcher in NE Meat Market!

Just stopped by and purchased some marinated pork cutlets, marinated steak tips, kielbasa made in Chicopee, MA, premade chicken cordon bleu, two bottles of wine on sale for 50% off, and a few Pearl hot dogs. There’s a nice variety of meats and lots of lamb and imported foods and spices that might prove difficult to find in larger grocery stores. They’re a tad pricey — actually, the steak tips were very pricey, but I’ll be happy if it all tastes good. I’ll update once I cook things… Update 5⁄17 — I dropped one star, could have been two… the chicken condon bleu was not very good and the steak tips were AWFUL. Shit, I hate saying bad crap about small mom and pop businesses…

This is great local neighborhood meat market, with friendly service and a decent selection. For meat they have all the basics for would need for a dinner fair prices and good quality. Also they sell some grocery items such as Local pure Country milk, greek specialties, produce, breads and a very small beer and wine choice. The meat here is fresh and much better than any supermarket being that is worth the extra trip here. The meat counter is like an old fashion butcher.

Extremely unprofessional! I called them last night asking if they had goat meat! They had some, frozen. I could not make it there before closing so we agreed that they will defrost the meat and I will come by first thing in the morning to pick it up. Well… I was there at 8.15 am but they never defrosted the meat. Thank you for ruining my party plans!!! VERYUNPROFESSIONAL!!! And I guess the guy I spoke to was the store manager! Yikes! The place looks like a dump anyway, and I guess their word has zero value too! One star is one too many for this place!

They seemed to have some pretty nice sized cuts of meat for big time grilling/roasting, but for a single person, the per pound seemed a little pricier than I expected. I’ll come back to try the cuban.

This was an interesting find, based on a Unilocal search. We had a great Cubin sandwich. This place has a great deli within the market itself, so don’t be discouraged from the front.

I love specialty shops, and NEMM is a great one. My grandparents used to cook Greek food almost exclusively. This place really takes me back to my childhood. The Greek yogurt they make themselves and it is great. The selection of imported cheeses and fresh produce is wonderful. They also have a deli counter of sliced meats and prepared foods. They also have Greek wines i cant find anyplace else. Friendly helpful staff

This place is amazing! I bought my prime rib roast for the holidays last year here and was pleasantly surprised. I’d expected it to be expensive because. well. it’s a specialty shop but Noooooo… it was really inepensive, considering the price I was really happy with the quality. I’ve been back a whole bunch of times since. The selection of marinated meats is mind boggling and the steaks out of the case can’t be beat. We’ve bought produce her and it’s very fresh though the selection is a little small(what do you want everything Judi?). So the last couple of trips there have involved grabbing lunch. Be brave folks, don’t just go here for the meat selection. The subs are outstanding and again really reasonable. I’ve had cold cuts, the chicken salad and tuna salad(which I never order out)… all of them were great. The boy ordered a steak and cheese, I was shocked when the guy behind the counter went over to the meat case and took out a whole steak and cut it fresh for the sandwich(who does that???). For short money you get a sub, chips, a soda and a piece of fruit. And no… you don’t have to order«the value meal» it’s just included in the price. Go here… go here often. You won’t be disappointed!!!

this place is such a gem. spend some time amidst luscious and high-quality meats, friendly butchers, chourico, cheese, marinated anything-you-could-want, and even the nasty bits that i cherish so. and all at such a good price. I’ve often bought cuts of steak here that would have cost much more at Whole Foods(damn you and your pocketbook temptations, Whole Foods!). come to think of it, this probably would have been the perfect setting for my husband to propose… i am not a weirdo.

Because of New England Meat Market I refuse to buy meat of any kind in the super market. It’s ten times better and half the price here. I also like not having to pick through pre packed meat. Here you get to pick which steaks, chops, sausages, tips, etc. that you want, and they then wrap them in butcher’s paper. They also have a very good selection of marinated meats all packaged up. Try the teriyaki tips. Very good. The frozen Italian meatballs are good as well. I look forward to grilling season specifically because of NEMM.

I’m stunned no one has reviewed this little gem of a market yet! I discovered this place by word of mouth about two years ago, and they’ve become my default shopping spot for all things meaty! The NEMM in Peabody is one of the best meat markets in the north shore area. Not only is the quality of their meat superior to almost any other place I’ve been to in the area, but they have a wide variety of ‘exotic’ meats and cuts you can’t find anywhere else. The market is located in an area of Peabody my wife and I jokingly call Little Greece. If you know Greek food at all, this should give you some idea of the curiosities you might find at the NEMM: quail, rabbit, buffalo, lamb(plenty and plenty of lamb!), sheep’s heads(!), octopus, etc. On top of which, they always have an excellent selection of your ‘run-of-the-mill’ favorites, such as beef/pork ribs, wings, chops, rack of lamb, prime rib, steaks, etc. To top all this off, the NEMM also provides variety of international cheeses(e.g., feta, sao jorge, etc.), wines, beers(e.g., Mithos, etc.), deli items(olives, potato salad, grape leaves, etc.), and canned/jarred items(olive oil, spices, sardines, etc.). And if that weren’t enough, the NEMM also features several *real* butchers who not only know their business but who are also some of the friendliest and helpful folks you’ll find! After all I’ve said, I can’t help but feel like I’m only scraping the tip of the iceberg in describing/praising this wonderful ‘mom and pop’ shop. If you’re looking for a bona fide, great(and meaty) shopping experience, drop in on the NEMM. You’ll fall in love with the place.
