Waitress took a twenty dollar bill and never came back with the change. She assumed it was the tip on a $ 40 bill.

Like several other reviewers, I found neither the service or the pizza to be delectable. My first experience with Santarpio’s was when I was actually trying to visit Wendy’s next door for my lunchbreak, only to see the line through the outside doors… So I walked over to Santarpio’s hoping to grab a slice. The take out waiting area was packed with no room to sit, so I requested one of the dozens of empty tables and a drink while I wait for my takeout. It took 15 minutes before I was acknowledged by the wait staff, my lunch break was ticking away. One staff member spent 10 minutes loudly dragging tables and chairs around the room, irritating the people at a table next to me so much that they left before ordering… The staff eventually took my order, brought me my(Tiny, overcooked, yet still soggy) pie 20 minutes later, but it wasn’t «to go» like I requested, so another 10 minutes go by waiting for her to talk with other tables and slip the pie into a box. It would have taken 3 pizzas to fill me up, they are that small! Ka-ching Ka-ching! My lunch break at this point is in overtime, I try to pay at the door, only to get lectured by the maitre’d that«This is the take out seating area, if you wanted take out you should be sitting on this wooden bench, not at a table»… Lady… I wanted take out and a drink. Your bar was packed, your take out area was packed… There’s must be a reason your dine in areas were all empty… The Maitre’d has a wicked bad attitude, giving the impression that she is somehow being inconvenienced by having customers. When all is said and done, I don’t plan on going back; even though I work in the area. You go out to eat to be waited on with good food by friendly people… I paid $ 24 with tip to get a tiny, soggy«pizza» with great tasting toppings, but inedible burnt chalk crust by a Maitre’d who clearly did not want my business.

I saw this establishment on food wars, so I decided to stop in while on a business trip. I’m from the tri state area, which offers the best pizza in the country. This is not formidably debated. So my experience with santarpios was ok. The service was meh. The pizza was decent. The cornmeal in the crust was original to me, but only took away from the taste. I’d probably only go back if it was incredibly convenient.

On our way north to NH we usually grab an order for pick up. this place will even half cook your pizza so you can finish cooking it later. But last night we had the opportunity to dine in. The food was exellant. The salad was cold, crispy, and tangy. The sausage, peppers and bread were fresh and awesome. The beer icecold, and my water was too. After all I’m the one driving north. And the price is more than reasonable. The people are always great. We will have to make more time to come back and eat in.

This place is pretty good for the area. I am a pizza lover and moved here from Long Island. There’s nothing better than Long Island pizza and bagels. I struggled to find the best pizza when I got here but after many different try’s I’ve settled on this place. Service is always great and friendly. Just not Long Island Pizza

Pizza was good, salad blah. Service was terrible. Waitress kept going to other tables… while we waited for a refill on our drinks. No knife when dishes brought over and never came back. So had to swipe one off another table.

Pizza was overcooked and lamb plate was chewy and tough. My favorite is the garlic and sausage. Pretty simple menu — Salad, pizza or lamb/sausage plates. I like the Keno that you can play while waiting or enjoying. E Boston location seems to be much better.

Restaurant seems clean. Staff is not very friendly, almost as if I’m bothering them by eating here. I think I aggravated the hostess by not wanting to sit in the bar area, sorry but I’m not a bar fly. Pizza is ok. Should have listened to the other reviews on Unilocal.Oh well, I’m tired and it’s close to my hotel.

Heard great things about this place and just tried for the first time and I was not impressed. We got two pizzas and first of all it was really expensive! We got toppings on both pizzas and there was barely any on both of them. If your gunna charge up the butt actually put the toppings on ! Pizza was very thin which can be a good thing sometimes but this time it wasn’t !

Locals raved about this place so I tried them both, the one in Boston and this location. The pizza is good but not great. I think it would be better if they spread some of the sauce to the edges of the pizza crust, instead of just plopping a ladle full of sauce in the middle and swirling it around in one spot. So you have a somewhat soggy first two inches of your slice flopping around and dripping and dry crust for the last three inches of the slice. Overall it was tasty and not bad, but I don’t know what all the raving is about. I still prefer Sal’s or Regina’s.

I have never been to the original location in east Boston. But from what I understand the pizza tastes the same. And that taste is amazing. Not is no mistake that this place is consistently ranked among the top pizzas in the country. This place is always busy for lunch and dinner. I recommend a pepperoni and white onion pizza. The steak tips and sausages are just okay. To me they taste kind of bland. But I’ve been told that the grille items are amazing at the east Boston location. Menu is just pizza, garden salad, steak tips and sausages. The place is a little divey and there service can be slow and inattentive at times. But, the pizza is amazing and it is priced more than fair. I’d really recommend this place to anyone.

My grandmother loved Santarpios so naturally post-wake we wanted to enjoy a casual meal. We called as soon as they opened to book a party of 30 maybe a few more, for 8. They hesitated because they closed at 10 and gave my cousin a little push back about the late time frame. We have every family dinner at Santarpios and 80% of my family has spent a significant amount of time in a restaurant. We called back and asked if we could pre-order pizzas, steak-tips, sausages to lessen the anxiety and they agreed. When we arrived, the staff was exceptional! We were all staggered and each person was greeted and brought a drink within seconds. The ladies waiting on our party were awesome and were extremely attentive! The food was perfect and out out of town family was raving! This was a miserable day in general. We were all tired, hungry, and just wanted a relaxing meal. Santarpios as usual created the perfect dining experience Thank You!

We got seated right away even with needing a high chair. Service was great. Pizza and steak tips as well as homemade sausage were very good.

I really really wanted to enjoy my dining experience at Santarpio’s but it just didn’t live up to my expectations. Arriving around 7:30 on a Saturday night and having a 40 minute wait led me to believe this place would be amazing! We put our name in and took a buzzer, and ended up grabbing seats at the bar for dinner instead. The bar area is loud and hot, with bright lights on you that induce you into a sweat(I know, ew). The wine and beer are cheap, which is a plus. although it did bother me that they don’t serve their wine in wine glasses and instead use something similar to a juice glass. However, $ 4.50 for a 10 oz wine pour is incredible. I started with the garden salad, which I was thoroughly disappointed with. The lettuce was brown and not fresh at all, and it was topped with some carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes. The house dressing was pretty tasteless. We ordered a cheese pizza for dinner, requesting it to be on the crispier side. When it was served, it didn’t look too crispy but we tried it anyways. The flavors were pretty good and I enjoyed the cheesiness of the pizza. About 5 minutes later, the couple next to us was served a crispy cheese pizza… turns out we were served their pizza and they were served ours. No one offered to correct the mistake, which was disappointing. Their pizza looked better than ours! I have to say, it was a disappointing meal compared to all the positives I hear about Santarpios.

Just a bad night for the bartender tonight. ‘Lost in space’ gives some idea of the lack of awareness. I sat at the bar for close to 10 minutes before being served. Meanwhile people who walked in after me get served immediately. I was looked at 3 times… no drink order asked for. Finally I get some service and then I’m told they don’t have what I ordered. When I said I got it the last time I was here, that clearly fell on deaf ears. Evidently I do not know what I’ve ordered the last 10 times I’ve been here. Chalk it up to a bad night. But this wouldn’t have happened if Jessie was working I can tell you that.

Stopped in after a rainy Saturday of kayak practice in the YMCA pool… didn’t have to wait for a table, but the place was jammed. We had a little spot along a corner, I kept on getting banged into as people turned the corner. Surprisingly we only had to wait 20 minutes for our pizza. Pizza was great, although the crust could have had a bit more flavor and a little less corn meal. Lamb sausage was good, but wow were the pizzas expensive!

It might be easier to write about what I did not try here then what we did try here. I have to confess that I have never been to the original so I have not frame of reference. My Unilocal Friend, Frannie, has been to this location many times though so I had a guide to my gastronomic adventure. We started with just a garden salad with the homemade vinaigrette. Of the things we tried, I could have done without this but maybe we needed the veggies to offset the meat that was to come. We did a combination plate of Steak tips and sausage. The steak tips were not cooked to order in that they were undercooked but they still tasted good. While I am not a sausage fan, these were extremely delicious. The pizza is totally worth the hype — the sauce, the crust, the cheese. It is simple but good.

I have been at this location twice. Both times I found their pizza to be good [even if a bit oily], their location to be very convenient, and clean [although it still looks like a beaten up Bennigan’s, which is what it was before Santarpio’s took over]. Their staff was very friendly and I enjoyed chit-chatting with them all. But my one gripe is that when I received my credit card statement in the mail, they overcharged me on my tip, which is completely unacceptable. Never rip off the customer! A tip, whether good or not so good, is at the discretion of the customer, not the employee. If you don’t like what I tip [and I have been known to tip very well, when it is earned] then perhaps the customer service profession is not for you. I have a copy of my receipt as proof, so for an employee to break the law and fatten their own tip is outrageous and insulting, not to mention ILLEGAL! I immediately disputed and reported the claim with the credit card company.

Santarpios Peabody location is smack in the bustle of rt 1 north surrounded by countless choices for food, including pizza. The comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff where a great start to our pizza club experience. We enjoyed a few pizzas, including the mandatory cheese, as well as the pepper & onion and a roni. We gave the cheese pizza an overall rating of 6.9, but the experience as a whole deserved a higher score. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable of the restaurants pizza making process. If you’re up for something different… we recommend a stop at Santarpios Peabody. Tony L.: 6.8 — good cheese blend, delicious thin crust. The sauce was plain, but went well with the other flavors. Nathaniel P.: 5– The pizza itself was ok, however, the crust was overdone and dry. The cheese was good, but I found it difficult to keep it on the slice. The pepperoni was most definitely my favorite. Jack D.: 8.3– it tasted good but I don’t think it would make a ten for many people. The sauce had a weird flavor but the cheese was good. The crust was crunchity crunch burnt. Nolan B.: 7.6– The sauce was good but the cheese could be better. I like how the toppings were layered underneath the sauce and cheese. The crust was muy bueno. Matt J: 6.7 — Solid all around pizza, good sauce and cheese. Although cheese was a bit burnt. Great pizza experience would recommend to others.

I’m not really a pizza lover. I definitely don’t crave it, ever. But my BF’s family loves pizza so sometimes it’s our Friday night dinner of choice. This time we went to Santarpio’s and the Shrimp Scampi pizza has changed my life. Imagine Garlic, Shrimp, cheese on a white pizza… need I say more? I practically ate the entire pie all by myself. Next time you’re in the area, stop by Santarpio’s and order the Shrimp Scampi White pizza… add a bottle of Pinot Grigio and TGIF!
