Just left there. Kids eat free on Sunday’s with purchase of adult meal for each kid. Food was good and waiter was attentive. Downfall was teppanyaki chef. If he was any less interesting he would have been sleeping. He went through the motions cooking our food but nothing more. He got our orders right but that’s about the nicest thing I can say about him. We have been to a lot of these restaurants but this has been the most boring. No tossing food, no fun.

There was nothing special here in my opinion. To be honest, I went here for lunch only and got the two rolls of sushi lunch special and Crab Rangoon’s. For my sushi I got a Spicy Tuna maki and a Tuna Avocado maki roll. In both rolls there was little flavor. The Spicy tuna had a ton of spicy mayo in it which gave it an orange color and almost drowned out the tuna chunks. The Tuna Avocado was similar but I preferred it over the spicy tuna. The crab Rangoon’s were bland as well. They had a little amount of crab and no scallions. They tasted like I was eating straight cream cheese with no other favors as the wonton didn’t stand out either(not sure if it’s the oil they use, or just a combination of different factors/brands). My server seemed both in a good and bad mood at different times of my short experience and I can see how people would comment negatively on the service side of things. I did not try the Hibachi side, but based on my current experience, I will not be going back.

Nice place, chef was good, and host was friendly. However our waitress Linda was not friendly. I felt rushed to order a drink as she was standing there and staring rather than to come back when I was ready so I just ordered a water. My friend ordered a piña colada and got a strawberry daiquiri and she told the waitress that’s not what she ordered and the waitress did not take it back or get her the piña colada. Also, before we left she kept giving my friends and I dirty looks and it was obvious she was talking shit in her language. She did not get or deserve a good tip.

Décor — 2.5−3 stars Waitress — 2.5 stars… Not very friendly and seemed slightly impatient during our interactions Habachi Chef — 2.5 stars… hardly spoke to us… was not very skilled at presenting the«show» aspect of this experience. Carelessly co-mingled my vegetarian companion’s tofu with shrimp on the grill. Then put shrimp on her plate without asking if it was wanted. Sauce used for tofu, chicken, and noodles was of the quality of a cheap brand purchased at market basket. Price — 1 star… Their prices are on par with other places that offer similar fare(ex: Mikado in Beverly) but the show, service, and food quality are not even in the same ballpark!!! I will not return

Had lunch with daughter today on recommendation from her friend. Tried to order fried rice to share. We got 2 full orders. Ordered my steak RARE. He was still cooking it after daughters medium steak. She asked for veggies with No onions, so he cooked the onion and then threw it away instead of serving me and another lady. Then, instead of bean sprouts, he gave us Sobo noodles. Too much carb! His juggling of knives was very clumsy. Wouldn’t swap soup for salad. definite language problem for chef and waitress, who was very brusque. No wonder the place was empty!

Love it here! The food is very fresh and delicious. The cooks are wonderful! They are very polite and talented in cooking. There are some that bring more humor to the table than others, but they all produce quality work. The only reason this place doesn’t get 5 stars from me is because the staff can be forgetful and rude. I’ve visited a dozen times, and half the time, the staff was rushing us out the door, rushing us as we ordered, or would take 10 minutes to deliver a water. The food is good enough to keep me going back though!

Talk about a New Years Eve NIGHTMARE! Went here with 8 of us for a 7:30 pm reservation. After being told numerous times we would be seated in about 5 – 10 minutes, we were finally seated around 8:40 pm. We were not even seated or situated when the Waiter came over with a serious attitude … With a rude tone asking what do you want for drinks? This theme continued after we were handed our menu’s and not even having a chance to look at them, asked what we wanted. He actually sighed in disgust when we asked for a few minutes to look over the menu. He continued to be rude throughout the service, but we decided we were not going to let him ruin our evening, but the food did that for us. Although the chef was very personal, funny, and great with the kids, the food really was not good at all. I would definitely not recommend this place for a large group on a busy night. You would think they would’ve given a free drink to everyone or a few complimentary appetizers because of having to wait so long.

Really enjoyed the Hibachi experience. My kids had a blast. Just wish my chef was better entertaining than the others there, but the food was great.

My friend and I visited the restaurant on a evening. Although there wasn’t a huge crowd or people waiting, our waiter rushed us in to ordering cocktails and appetizers. The spicy tuna roll and fried calamari was excellent. However our entrees that we ordered hibachi style were terrible! The chef was quite entertaining and friendly but he served us raw scallops and gummy rice. The noodles had no flavor, the vegetables were not cooked properly, and the servings were small. I will definitely not visit this restaurant again.

Best hibachi ever!!! Its dinner and a show. Depending on the time you go they will either seat you right away or it could be quite a wait so try not to pick peak hours because it could be a loooong wait. Really great food and drinks. I haven’t tried their sushi but my friends have and said it was pretty good. I stick to the teriyaki chicken with fried rice. So yummy! I love when they make a volcano with the onion and sometimes, depending on the chef, they’ll throw a piece of zucchini or shrimp or what not in the air and have the people at the table try to catch it in their mouth. So funny especially since I always miss it. Great food and fun atmosphere.

My girlfriend and I walked in tonight(sunday), an hour and a half before they closed. The service was ridiculously rushed. The waitress came over and asked as soon as we sat down if we know what we wanted to eat. After we asked for more time she let a minute pass before coming back. We quickly decided on sushi, shrimp and chicken. The soup and salad came out at least a minute after and MYGOD was it the worst soup I have ever had. It had 0 flavor and had stale vegetables. The salad was probably the only thing I would pay for at the restaurant; it was tasty and had fresh lettuce. The sushi came out quick enough where we knew it was pre-made. Not only was it pre-made and warm, but it was majority avocado. No crab to be found in our california roll. Next the chef came out. He seemed clearly disinterested in us and just wanted to finish as soon as possible. The rice tasted like burnt over cooked egg and stale rice. The noodles tasted frozen. The shrimp only was edible after dunking it in the sauces provided. The teriyaki chicken had 0 flavor and the vegetables were not cooked all the way through. The chef cooked it all within a 5 – 10 minute span, which is no wonder why nothing had any flavor. He finished cooking, didn’t say a word, and walked away. All of this for 48 dollars? I felt so bad for my girlfriend. She was so excited for japanese food and was disappointed in the end. We left 0 tip.

Went to Tokyo on a Saturday night with a party of 6. We were seated right away at a comfortable table in the back of the restaurant for hibachi. Our server came right over as there was already a few people sitting at our table that had ordered. We ordered sushi to start and took a minute to look at the menu. We ordered and the meal was fantastic, food was cooked to perfection, sushi was yummy and the grill cook that we had was impressive in both skill and personality. Unfortunately we felt VERY rushed. Even though we ordered our sushi first, the sushi, ginger salad, and onion soup all came out at once. It took us the whole time our meal was being prepared to eat all off that and the food was sitting on our plates getting cold while we waited. Either way, it was delicious and we will definitely be back! But just some advice… slow it down!

We tried some sushi around when our friends tease us that we always go to Tokyo Steak House. It’s always the same result, we. should stick to the place that serves the best sushi in town.

We weren’t even done with our meal she said thank you and gave us the check.. without even Asking if we needed something else, horrible service!!!

We walked in on a Friday afternoon hoping to get some sushi. Turned out to be a bad decision ! It was slow when we walked in, the waitresses were having chit-chat session which is absolutely fine. The waitress who came to our table wanted us to quickly decide on the dish and order. She just wanted to wrap up and go back to her important gossip session. With a 1 year old it takes time to decide on something ! She kept coming back and constantly harassing, at that point, had to snap and had her wait. She then straightened out and was more courteous ! but it didn’t have to be this way. We didn’t order much after this attitude ! paid for the food and left without eating anything. Never coming back ! If you want to gossip stay home.

i would say 3.5 stars. the service has gotten a lot better or we just got bad service the other time we went. we got the sushi boat($ 34.95). the sashimi was good quality. the sushi and california rolls were a good size as well. for $ 35 you get a good deal. all places give/take something so it’s hard to compare directly. the boat came with a pair of miso soups and salads. the salad only had iceberg lettuce and like 5 shavings of carrots. for $ 35 they could throw in some other veggies(e.g. tomato, cucumber), but it was good, too. the service was better although still not terribly attentive. we didn’t see them until the check, but they were helpful when they came. next time i might try the hibachi. i would recommend this place.

I haven’t been to a Japanese steak house since I lived near charleston, sc. This place was awesome! We came in around dinner time on a Friday night. We were welcomed& seated(with a high chair.) right away. The waitress interacted with my 17 month old, while my husband & I looked over the menu. She was very nice and quite helpful for us. Food was pretty good, in our vegetables we got bean sprouts(not used to getting those with japanese food) I was surprised with the«white sauce» I’m used to having… It was very was very wasabi-ish flavored. I didn’t ask if they have mayonaise based sauce though. The rest of the food was good. The cook was very nice with considering the children’s age around the table(the couple next to us had a daughter that was around 5, She was scared of the fire.) My sons first reaction to a little fire was scared as well. But it was nice that the cook was cool about it. I got steak and shrimp; fried rice; and veggies. My son got chicken and white rice& my husband got chicken; fried rice and veggies. We all left happy. It was a great experience. We will defiantly go again!

First let me start off by saying that the food is delicious. The two stars came off for the service. Upon entering we were greeted by a hostess, but she could not understand that we had a reservation for 4 at 8 o’clock and kept telling us that we could not be seated because our whole party was not here. She thought we had a reservation for 8 people. Would not have been a problem if it had been solved quickly but we spent a good amount of time trying to sort this out. Next when we were trying to order I asked what was in the fried rice, in case there was something I was allergic to. The woman who took our order informed us that there were radishes in the fried rice. I thought that was odd so I declined and went with white rice, as did others in my party. When the fried rice was made it had no radishes in it, needless to say a few of us were disappointed. This leads me to believe that the language barrier was the problem again. She also insisted that we order using the menu code(ex. D15) to order. Might have been related to the fact that she had a hard time understanding what was being said. The chef was delightful, professional and entertaining. If I were to give a rating on the food and presentation alone, it would be 5 stars. However the service brings the value of the evening there down. I recommend this place if you are a patient person with no special requests and/or have a native speaker with you.

We tried this place because we were in the area and didn’t feel like driving any further. The place is spotless inside, very clean, impressively so. It was nearly empty on a Friday evening, which should tell you something. When we were seated we were asked if we wanted to sit at the grill or the sushi bar. We didn’t want to sit at the sushi bar but we wanted sushi. When we asked if we could order sushi while sitting at the grill the waitress gave us a blank stare. Seriously, you could hear crickets. Eventually she got it but never said yes, she gave a vague answer that was not intelligible. The service went down hill from there. The actual waitress didn’t give us time to look at the menu and looked pissed when we told her we needed more time. She came back LESS than a minute later and wanted us to order. We told her we still needed time. She seemed even angrier. When we were ready to give her our order she couldn’t understand what my partner wanted. When asked about the beer menu I was told 2 beers: Bud and Sam, though I could see but not read 5 taps in the bar area. The chef came out and did a good show full of tossed eggs, spinning knives and flames. That was the best part of the meal. I’ve never been to a Japanese restaurant that relies so heavily on 5 Spice powder. Actually I take that back I’ve never been to a Japanese Restaurant that uses 5 Spice period. The food tasted like Chinese food that American’s had screwed with the recipe. Not very good, certainly not Japanese. To be fair the steak I ordered was perfectly cooked and tasty, just not Japanese tasting. The soup I received with my meal reminded me of dish water and was served tepid. The sushi was very good though. My partner’s udon noodle soup was terrible. Flavorless broth and just not very good. I’d have done a better job tossing a bullion cube or 2 into a pot of boiling water. The cost is something else. I got a plate full of barely cooked veggies and some perfectly cooked steak and 3 shrimp for $ 20. My bottle of beer was $ 4.50. The total bill for everything we had was over $ 50. Now if the meal had been better I wouldn’t complain, but I can drive into Chinatown pay for a tank of gas and a full meal for less. Or I could go to Kame in Beverly and spend $ 50 and at least get decent non bitchy service. Overall opinion is that I won’t be back. The meh level of food and horrible waitstaff will assure me of that. MY response to Ling L.‘s comment below: I know better than to «confront» a crappy waitress. I’ve worked in the industry for years. I treat the people who handle my food with respect because I know how hard it is to sling food all day/night. I tip extremely well when I’m happy and less so when I’m not. It’s sad that your waitress didn’t know she was being a horrible waitress. Her attitude needs some adjusting. The woman who seated us was beyond nice and I felt when we walked in that service would be good. I’m well aware of cultural differences in staff, I frequent Asian and other restaurants often. I have never had a waitress as surly and unfriendly as the woman who served us in ANY of the many Japanese restaurants I’ve been in. In fact I would say that the service level in most Japanese staffed restaurants is some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere. This one terrible waitress ruined my experience at you place. It seems that you have a bad habit of hiring terrible staff. I won’t be back.

I was in desperate need of some Japanese Steak House cuisine when my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this restaurant in the Trader Joe’s plaza off of 114 in Peabody. And then we stumbled to the restaurant because we were so hungry.(No– he walked fine and I stumbled but it was because I’m clumsy…) It looked promising. The menu looked good, there was no line… and then… we waited. And waited. I admired the bamboo plant– it was huge. And we waited some more. We looked around. We shouted, ‘Hello???’ and had it echo back at us! Finally, my boyfriend wrote a cute message in their book along the lines of We were here, you missed some customers which sucks for you. Then, we left. And got some free samples and other goodies in Trader Joe’s. Poor customer service!(And yes, this was around lunch on a weekday). I won’t go back after having my time wasted like that.
