Eating their ice cream will make you cry when you realize you will have to fly all the way to Portland, Maine and take a ferry to relive the explosion of happiness you’re feeling in your mouth right now. Their flavors are seasonal. I had the Maine Black Bear from their Spring flavors, which is a refreshingly light vanilla with tart raspberry swirl littered with raspberry chocolate bites. It’s well balanced between sweet and tart. I could detect a hint of lime. *Sob* Drop by and have a scoop for me. *Sob*

Ice Cream + Rude ass workers = Yay Ice Cream! haha Ice cream choices were great — I don’t know if I walked in at a bad time, but you could tell the workers were not in the best of moods. If you don’t like your job find a new one. If it was any other type of food I may have been really irritated, but it’s ice cream and ice cream makes everything better :)

My husband and I stopped in here about two weeks ago while visiting Peaks Island. We both ordered root beer floats. There was extra root beer from the floats(bottled) that the girl gave us to take. In reading the label, I noticed that it was not caffeine free — most root beer is. As I cannot have caffeine, I was kicking myself that I didn’t check the caffeine content before ordering. I was explaining the dilemma to my husband when the staff offered me a new ice cream order at no extra charge. We offered to pay because the mishap was on me, but they insisted. I really appreciated their generosity and graciousness! I reordered a soft serve mixed with candies, and it was great. My husband enjoyed his *2* root beer floats. :)

Most of Down Front is silly tourist stuff, so if you’ve already got your fill of lobster and lighthouse paraphernalia then what you want here is the ice cream. As far as I can tell, the ice cream is not made in house. That’s totally okay, just like my rating — three stars means stuff is not amazing but totally fine. The ice cream is good. The ice cream is tasty. The ice cream is dairy, so if you have trouble with dairy you’re out of luck. Get the Maine blueberry if you like blueberry. Get something else if you’re so inclined. There are cones and cups and toppings, so if you need to avoid gluten you’re fine. Customer service is friendly and efficient. And if you need some postcards or magnets as mementos, you can get those here too.

Amazing ice cream… Being from Brooklyn and living down the block from the famous Old Fellows Ice Cream parlor, we can confidently say that this ice cream was comparable if not better than Brooklyn! We tried the Wild Maine blueberry and Raspberry Rocky bear… Mmmmm delicious! Portions are large and price is not hiked even though tourists routinely flock here. The staff is super friendly. If you are visiting Peaks Island, this is a must… Especially given that it’s up the block from the ferry landing!

Wonderful little place on the island to get ice cream. The wild Maine blueberry ice cream was some of the best I’ve ever had. They also have a wide selection of regular flavored and Sunday’s, candy, gifts and Peaks Island clothing. They also have a large number of colored lawn chairs to sit out and enjoy your snack.
