I drive a truck on the 138 often, as I deliver fuel to most of the gas stations in the area. Im always keeping my eyes peeled for restaurants that have parking for big rigs. I have always noticed this place in the middle of Pearblossom, but it was always closed so I paid it no mind. Then one day out of nowhere, I noticed an OPEN sign illuminated out front. I kept this place in the back of my mind until I was in the area during lunchtime. As I approached this place coming eastbound, where the sign says«truck parking», I slowed my truck down to make a left into the vacant lot across the street. I turned on my turn-signal and came to a stop to wait for the westbound traffic to clear. God forbid anybody behind me have to wait for a second, they all just passed me on the right shoulder at full speed, blowing all kinds of sand and dirt all over the place, and nearly ran one of the signs down. I’ve always known the drivers on the 138 to be impatient pieces of crap, but geez this was something else. Jerks. Pulled into the lot when I could safely do so, and parked. Once again these drivers out here wont stop as if they think«they’re in bat country» so be alert and jog a little crossing the 138 on foot. Walked in and was greeted with smile, a hello, and a menu. Seated and Iced Tea ordered with the quickness. The place was almost empty, so there’s a bit of an echo. Ordered my food and used the bathroom. Small but clean bathroom. Cool. My Pastrami Sandwich and fries came out after about 5 minutes. This sandwich was very good, but not in the way you would think. Instead of having really good heaps of pastrami, that is good even if the other ingredients suck; this sandwich had some of the best bread I’ve ever had for a Pastrami Sandwich. It was like a cross between a French Bread, and a Croissant. It, couple with the quality Swiss Cheese they put in it are really what make this sandwich, as it carries the just OK pastrami to victory! Weird. On top of that there are no heaps of said pastrami on this sandwich, but rather, a fair amount of Pastrami INside the sandwich. Pretty good. The fries were good as well, hot, but not salted. Which gave me the opportunity to salt it to my content. As I was eating, two Gentlemen came in and ordered«two steaks.» The Waitress said that they don’t have the Dinner menu out yet, as it is still being developed. Without further hesitation, the Waitress offered to allow them to order the«Steak & Eggs» breakfast at I think $ 14.99, but that she would substitute the eggs and bacon for a salad and fries. The two Gents jumped all over it and agreed to those terms. Just so ya know. The Waitress was a delight, even when I had to run back to my truck to retrieve my wallet. The Iced Tea was great. Made with filtered water, no less. I’ll be back.

My outdoor studio is sort of just round the corner, so I was always looking for a classic local place I can take my artists, staff and workshop attendants to. Right now, unfortunately, this place is only open for breakfast and lunch, as the — very kind — new owner is waiting for his alcohol license. Still, he opened for my workshop attendants for dinner — and we all throughly enjoyed their burgers — once they got over the crazy facts: there is no Malcolm — and they do not sell steaks. The burgers and salads are very good though :-)

I can’t say enough about this great local restaurant!!! The staff, the food quality, the atmosphere, all fantastic! Truly has that small town feel. Our riding group(The High Desert Trikers) hold our meetings here every month & we couldn’t be more pleased with the service & attention they give us. It’s not easy dealing with a large group of old bikers/Trikers & they do it effortlessly!

Ok now that the owners an friends and employees are done hyping this place now for reality. I guess this building is doomed to be empty. Many restaurants came and went here. Prices for breakfast are way too high. Places in Littlerock just down the road are charging about half. Burger is a processed Hockey Puck not the menus Sirloin described burger. FYI Chili as a topping should not have beans. I suspect Hormel cans in the dumpster. We asked for Salsa and I posted on the 8th picture what we got was ½ a shot glass of salsa. Brother. The waitress brought the check halfway thru the meal. Buzzzz. Don’t hurry the check, it’s Rude. They still are not open for dinner so the overpriced food is only available fir breakfast and lunch for now. Can’t wait for the $ 50 bad steak. Oh wait I won’t be back so I will count on a Unilocaler for a full report. So we will see if they can pull out of the tailspin.

They are only open for breakfast and lunch so far but we are anxiously awaiting their dinner service based on how great the service and food is! The portion size for the price and quality is good. Laura has been our server twice and I can’t say enough on how nice, friendly and conscience she is. Whether handle a couple of tables or a packed place she keeps her smile! We hope that they’ll be around for years to come.

Today was our first visit and we shared the burger and onion rings. Hamburger is small and thick and had a nice flavor. Eating area and bathroom clean. Service was quick and friendly. Hostess/server was very pleasant. Only two recommendations from today’s visit– try not to serve mushy tomato(we left ours on the plate) with the burger and cook the onion rings longer so that the batter is thoroughly cooked. As we are not ones to return food to a kitchen, we ate the onion rings after removing the under cooked batter. We will try the establishment again. They just opened 12/11/2015 and they did take my suggestion when I sent message to them on Facebook to post their hours on Facebook and their website last month.(They are open every day 7a to 2p) A bit pricey; average meal $ 10/person plus beverage, tax, and tip. Fish & chips on special with a small side of coleslaw is $ 14.95. The fries are homemade– Yum! Onion rings cost $ 1.50 more. We want them to do well.

Yes 5 stars. This place is exactly what you should expect in this remote area. Good simple food with friendly locals staffing it. It’s harder and harder to find these old fashioned restaurants. They will be adding to the menu as they grow and are waiting for a beer/wine license. Support small town businesses.

The worst service ever. Waitress acted like having to serve breakfast was a problem and was mumbling the whole way walking away from the table. Food is below sub par and Steaks smelled funny. I would avoid this place like the plague. Horrible experience and will never return. If you want a true steakhouse go to Broken Bit
