Bland but not terrible food, ineffectual staff, way overpriced for what you get. Location is pretty, though, and they let you stay as long as you like, even when it’s busy.

We spotted RameNesque after driving up from Brooklyn for a Unilocal mapped out garden nursery mission in the area and intending on ending up at the Tea room in town. We decided it wasn’t our type and it started monsooning, so we ran quickly up the block to find refuge in any restaurant that might have some decent vegetarian and fortunately RamaNesque was one of the first we passed. Everything was great. I want to especially compliment them on their seaweed salad, which I love but half the time it’s either meh or unpalatable when I order it sight unseen. Theirs is crisp and refreshing. A good omen! We had vegetable ramen and kimchi pancakes and they were both excellent. We liked the ramen so much that we got another to go to bring home to our daughter, who has tried the ramen/soba/udon in every town she’s ever been in and she echoed our praise. Although the green tea is not the bottomless variety with small cups it is served in huge round clear glass cups that hold plenty, keep the tea hot and feel nice in the hand. My wife and I usually don’t get dessert but we were having a nice time shielded from the downpour so we got the ice cream(green tea?) in mocha and it was a nice way to end the meal. Staff was great, ambience was great. Will definitely go back next time we’re in the area.

Really good ramen! They’ve got a nice beer selection as well, I got the traditional ramen with roasted garlic and my friend got the Tom yum which she said was not too spicy and full of flavor. They have a couple of tables and a very relaxed atmosphere. They also seem to do a lot of take out business the only thing I don’t like is that they’re closed on Monday!

I’m a huge fan of soup and I’ve tried their thorn-wood location and loved it. The other night it was pouring rain and my boyfriend and I were craving soup. We looked online and saw that the closing time was 11 so we came at 9:30. Sadly we were wrong they really closed at 10 but the staff were super friendly and still served us. Our waitress was so friendly and sweet. Our cups of water never went empty and she kept checking on us to make sure we were ok. Great place, pretty décor and yummy soup! The kimchi ramen is the bomb! Keep it up!

I’m not a huge fan of Ramen and have had some pretty outright gross experiences ordering it so I was completely skeptical about this place. Lucky for me, a friend of mine insisted we give it a shot and I’m so happy I grew a pair and went! Service was absolutely lovely, our waitress was polite and accommodating. The food came out quickly and the portion size was A LOT larger than I had anticipated. I ordered the«Dan Dan» with chicken and it was so delicious, highly recommended if you like spicy food. The ingredients were fresh and perfectly cooked. For $ 12, it was a steal. The neighborhood isn’t the best, but it’s certainly up-and-coming and a lot of neat places like this are being scattered around. The only negative thing I can say is the restaurant kind of smells(but maybe I have a sensitive nose because of allergy season). It was a little off-putting at first but the food more than made up for it. Also, they don’t use MSG which is fantastic. Will definitely be back!

This is really a poor excuse for ramen. The cold egg was over-cooked. The stock was quite bland. The pork meat I got was quite dry and tough. Each bowl was topped with out of place frozen corn kernels. I can’t believe I had to pay so much for something on par with instant-noodles.

We went for dinner on a Saturday and while it looked busy we were surprised to find they had space for us in a back dining room. The staff was friendly and polite for the most part. We definitely wanted to try the ramen and had 2 vegetarians and a meat eater in the party. We ordered a chicken ramen and veggie ramen both soshu and a tofu bowl. I had try some Gyoza to start and they tasted homemade and we’re cooked really well. I was really looking forward to pork ramen but they were out of it by 7 on a Saturday??? Seems like they didn’t have it to begin with… So our entrees arrive and they look ok. I will start by saying the ramen was pleasant and enjoyable but not the mouth watering, rich ramen broth I have come to expect. It was garnished with a hard boiled egg(not kitsurage) corn, raw onion, spinach, a pile of boiled chicken, some nori and rice cake. The quality of the noodles was really nice but I was just underwhelmed with the chicken option. I have to say it was a nice meal and I would give it another shot if I called ahead and a pork option was available … But it didn’t satisfy my ramen craving.

So, we tried again to have lunch there with the kids and give them another chance. We are so glad we did! First, the service was great. We had a waiter and sat in the back room. The waiter was well trained, attentive and timed our lunch very well and had a great attitude. The food came out quickly and the order was accurate. I like how they decorated the back room and the skylight is a nice touch. The food was really great. The cucumber and crab salad was really perfect start. The ginger and honey tea was sweet and sharp. The tom yum with rice noodles was a big hit and had some mild spice. The dan dan vegetarian noodles with tofu was actually spicier than the tom yum. One person had the basic ramen with chicken and everyone was very happy. The topper was the chocolate mochi cake as a great finish to a great meal and the kids licked the plate clean. We will definitely be back again. UPDATE — came back for dinner and they got everything right. Dan Dan was extra spicy at my request and made my nose run. Perfect. Service was attentive and very timely. The owner was there and she kept checking in — very nice personal touch. Now we are regulars.

Food here is excellent! Love that they have clearly labeled vegan options! Service great, atmosphere casual, fun artsy vibe with décor.

Food: The service here is great, the waiter is really attentive, the décor of the restaurant gives me the vibe of eating in an art gallery(there are art there there for sale). However the ramen didn’t do it for me. My gf and I ordered the gyoza to start, which was ok. It needed some more flavor but we could tell it was homemade, which is a plus. We then proceeded to order the Dan Dan and the Tom yum ramen. I personally didn’t like the consistency of the ramen, it was kind of gummy and tasted like packaged ramen. We didn’t even finish the food(which is rare for us!). Overall the food was ok. There are lots of choices for vegans there! So if you’re vegan head over there for some ramen and apps. Beer: Bottled beers, no draft, good selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, but of course the drink my gf ordered they ran out of.

We were very disappointed! For the first visit was amazing. We really enjoyed the food and want to go back again. We went again on the weekend and were waiting for the table, ended up have to leave the restaurant because they were very busy and couldn’t run food fast enough, some customers even walked out. We felt really bad to see that so we gave them the second chance but again they were very slow and we didn’t get our appetizer until 30 minutes later and food was pretty blend compare to the first time visit. We love to help and support the local restaurant but they need to change and make it better.

Hoping it was just a one-night folly– but we were sadly disappointed by our Ramanesque this evening. We ordered take-out over the phone and were given one wrong order and one order missing the dashi and the seaweed. When I called them about the mistake(got a rice bowl instead of a Raman) the woman who answered tried to make it sound like I had ordered the wrong thing and didn’t believe me that the menu item I ordered exists– she said she’d have to check with her manager about that. I asked if I could come back and pick up an item similar to what I had ordered and she said it would be 30 to 40 minutes. When I asked if I could just get the amount refunded to my card she said I’d have to leave my name and number and they’d «See what we can do.» Still waiting…

I had the shoyu ramen. I’m not sure I can call this ramen. Soup had no flavor, just shoyu taste. Noodle was just not good. Chashu also just tasted like shoyu, like it was just cooked in shoyu. Very salty, not tender at all. And don’t put corn in shoyu ramen please. Overall, there was nothing good about this thing.

I was pleasantly surprised to find Ramenesque in what could be a gorgeous building that a previous Japanese restaurant inhabited. Would be because I’m guessing business got too slow for the previous owners and it hasn’t been spruced up/repainted/etc. But don’t let the exterior fool you, this little ramen restaurant is sleek and beautiful on the inside. The interior is wood paneling and cute wooden tables – there’s even a little nature scene inside with a water fixture(and in a surprisingly non-campy sort of way). But buildings and decorations aside, I came to Ramenesque to satisfy my curiosity: «Does Westchester finally have a good ramen option?» Then answer? Yes. 1. You get so many choices when it comes to picking your ramen. Chicken base or pork base. Vegetarian? Thai? You’re spoiled for choices here. I went the more traditional route that most ramen joints are rocking these days: tonkatsu with a swirl of black garlic oil. 2. Did I mention there are lots of vegetarian and gluten free options for those who are limited in their diets? Finally, a ramen place I can bring my more selective food friends too. 3. Presentation. The bowls came out and were plated gorgeously for what was in them: stewed pork, a soft-boiled egg(not Ajitsuke Tamago, D:), thinly sliced scallions, a nori-square, corn(interesting choice but not bad), and cute little naruto. 4. Taste was solid. I very much enjoyed my bowl while slurping up the noodles and savoring the pork. But when I got down to just the broth… it just wasn’t very satisfying. The richness of the tonkatsu broth was definitely there, but aside from that, I just couldn’t find a good reason to keep drinking it. It was lacking something that I couldn’t put my finger on(salt? flavor? umami?) Also, I don’t know if this is an unfortunate trend, but many times when ramen places put down char sui pork as a topping, what comes out is frequently not char sui pork, as was the case here – But it was still really tasty and tender pork! Just not char sui. RameNesque is a pretty awesome and new restaurant and I hope that they keep up with their work! It’s great! But there is definitely room for a little improvement – mostly in their broth. Food aside, I loved the location, the fun plates/glassware(a few words: leaning tower of Piza realness), and the wonderful and attentive staff. Definitely give this place a try and support your local ramen shop! We need to give some encouragement so more good Asian places like this keep popping up: D

RameNesque is a quaint little noodle shop in the heart of Peekskill. My husband and I had heard through the grape vine about their vegan offerings so when we were passing through after a hike nearby we decided to stop in. We were immediately greeted by an extremely friendly waitress who immediately seated us. The environment in RameNesque is casual yet edgy. I think it would be a good place to take co-workers for lunch or go on a laid back date. There was no «weird fish smell» when we walked in as stated in another review. Everything was very clean and well kept inside. The menu has just enough variety without being overwhelming. There were 3 marked vegan options on the menu and several appetizers. The vegan ramen was excellent and you actually get to pick from 5 or so different spice/garnish choices so there are more options that what is listed on the menu. It’s nice to have more than one choice sometimes! The food and check came out quickly and we were very satisfied by the taste and size of the dishes we got. I would totally come back again when we are in the area!

Completely unthrilling starting with the smell when you walk in. It is rather fishy and unpleasant. The only really good part was the lovely server. They didn’t have a few of the menu items listed(ones that drew us in). We would have probably enjoyed store bought ramen better. Really good service though

Reviewing them again, because Ramenesque has added quite a few new items to their menu. They offer three new varieties of ramen, including the ninniku, which packs enough garlic to make your Italian grandmother blush. There’s also the bulogi beef bowl, which is good enough, but really shines when you order the spicy variation. I can’t stress enough how great of an option this place is for takeout. You could order the same sad and cheap Chinese food from anywhere, or get this great authentic Japanese cuisine for about the same price. It’s also a great place to sit and eat, and it’s always easy to get a table, because most of the foot traffic in the area tends to stay on restaurant row around the corner.

The concept of a simple menu, the freshest ingredients, lovingly prepared in an earth-friendly environment is wonderful. And executed to perfection. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, and the restaurant sports front and rear dining areas that are both comfortable yet different — old world Peekskill with exposed brick and reclaimed wood in front, and in back, a more trendy, modernistic theme. Open since August 2013, they have not yet secured their liquor license, or been able to take advantage of an outdoor dining space that(if Spring ever arrives to the Northeast) will only add to the appeal. For now, it’s BYOB with no corkage fee. We brought a semi-sweet Riesling that paired very nicely with the spicy dishes. Start with handmade dumplings(meat or veggie), or a crab salad, then move on to either one of several Ramen dishes(including veggie choices) or, if noodle bowls are not your thing, try the broiled glazed salmon, chicken/pork cutlet(Tonkatsu) or tofu offerings. We enjoyed our pan-seared dumplings(both veggie and meat) with a light dipping sauce, and all four of us went for the Tom Yum(spicy) Ramen with chicken. And we all got to practice with earth-friendly aluminum chopsticks. Lots of slurping! Portion size was generous — you will not leave feeling hungry! Plenty of teas, non-alcoholic drinks and a myriad of dessert offerings offer closure. The kitchen is small and patience may be required, as it took exactly one hour from our order to entrée delivery. Stay away from peak dining hours for the best experience.

I kept seeing Unilocal reviews for here and since I love supporting small businesses, I knew I had to check it out. Went with my besty on a sunday afternoon and at first I passed by it and was like, um where the hell is this joint? They def need a little better signage and to open the shades so it looks open. Parked by salvation army and walked in. we were the first ones there and went up to the counter to order. Two diet cokes, the california roll, vegan miso ramen(miso/bean paste base) and shoyu(soy based) chicken ramen. The owner [I assumed] was very pleasant and told us to pick seats up front and she would bring everything to us as it was finished. She also said we could pay after eating, regular restaurant style. I like to chat so I wasnt paying attention to the time it took to get food. By girl thought it was taking quite a while tho. After about ten mins after ordering our cali roll came out and it was huge! It says 8 pieces on the menu but ours was 12 and I was mightly happy! We were given the cutest plates and real metal chopsticks which I loved. Quality of the roll was excellent and fresh! Maybe another 15 – 20 mins after the roll our ramen came and yummmm did it look good! [see photo] I wish mine had some more chicken in it as it really added to the flavor. My girl said hers was lacking a bit in flavor too. Not sure if it needed more salty ingredients or what, but it def seemed like it was missing –something-. Still I thought it was excellent and great for a lazy, chilly Sunday. I plan on coming back and trying some of the other offerings on the menu as well. Support local business!
