Lichtenberg Veterinary Hospital

I have been very satisfied with the treatment my bunnies have received at Dr. Lichtenberg’s vet hospital. The staff is warm and compassionate, and above all, very knowledgable about this oft-​misunderstood creature.

Lichtenberg Veterinary Hospital has been caring for my cats and dogs for years. I have always been appreciative of their compassion, excellent skills and concerns that have helped me to make decisions about many different areas regarding my animals. They have always been available to help me make the best decisions for my pets. I have had pets for over 50 years and I am so pleased with this clinic and their services. I recommend them highly and feel I can trust their advice to the highest degree.

Our rescue dog suffered a severe trauma early in his life that left him afraid of medical settings. The staff at the clinic (including the receptionist, the techs, and the doctor) are all compassionate and do their best to set him at ease. We have been extremely pleased with their professionalism. We highly recommend this practice.

Down to earth, reasonably priced, and just awesome!

i love these folks. i live in conway, and i bring my dog to pelham [25 miles away], because they are worth it. i’ve tried many of the more local vets, but they have all left me disappointed.
i’ve been going to dr. lichtenberg for 7 years now. they are always excited to see my dog. as a result, my dog has absolutely no issues going to the vet. she’s so happy to see everyone she barely even notices the strange goings on for a few minutes while she’s up on the table.

I went to her on a recommendation from a animal rescue group. I brought several of my animals to her and her staff. One of my ferrets was going in for a routine surgery, I got a call in the early am that he was dead. She had (not known or approved my me) let someone else perform the surgery and she had to go back in after to try and fix was the first md screwed up. When I went to retrieve his body, Andy, her husband and receptionist, tossed his little dead body on the counter (wrapped in his blanket) and stated the 2^nd surgery was free, but how would I like to pay for the first surgery.
A few other times they would not return calls when I had an emergency, parking was terrible. Just go somewhere else.
Rest of staff was nice, just not ANDY and the MD.

I am sorry to give this low rating; I have had better experiences with this hospital in the past. But several years ago, a delayed diagnosis of diabetes resulted in the death of my cat; I always blamed myself for this because I waited a day after he seemed ill before bringing him in. However, recently a missed diagnosis of an ingrown claw – which was what I told Dr. McKee I thought it was when I first brought my cat in – has resulted in several weeks of misery, a two-​night stay in an emergency hospital, and a ten-​day course of antibiotics that make the cat ill. I now look back at my cat’s death several years ago, and realize that Dr. McKee sent us home with antibiotics in case he had an infection, called the next day with the diagnosis and said to bring him in, and did not tell me how critical it was to bring him in IMMEDIATELY so they could begin to stabilize him on insulin. I still take my part of the responsibility, but I think this vet is under-​reactive and I no longer trust her diagnostic skills. I intend to change to a different practice.

I took my dog to see Debra when she had a terrible problem with her stomach. My dog had ongoing diarrhea and everything she ate, she threw up. When I brought my sick dog in to see her, Deb was more interested in trimming the dogs toenails. I sat and listened to my dog screaming while she took her out back. Deb seemed disgusted with me for letting the dogs nails grow. Meanwhile, to get my dog to eat more, she prescribed a bag of kibble. I was reluctant to try the kibble, but I fed it to my dog anyway. The next day, my dog became extremely ill and started to die. I called Deb’s office several times, and she never called me back. I was horrified. My dog was put down later in the day. This vet is not able to handle complex issues with an animal. If you love your pet, do not go to this vet. I’m sorry I even have to give one star.

Over the years we have had about 10 cats, 2 dogs and a rooster. All of which have been to this fine clinic. The best example of the dedication of this place was with one of our Dog’s Onyx. A 2 year old Siberian Husky.
Somehow, around 3AM Onyx pushed the front door open and got outside. While he was out he tried to introduce himself to a new friend, a porcupine. Only the porcupine was having none of it and decided instead of a handshake, 200 quills in the dogs face would be better. Onyx came back into the house, right to my bed and woke me up with a slight whimper. I turned on the light and almost freaked. We called Deb and she told us to bring him in. They took the dog and told us to go and she would call us in the morning. By noon he was quill free and ready to come home. They got them all! I was surprised since some of them were in his throat. This would be the first of two porcupine encounters with this dog, thankfully the second wasn’t as bad.
