I tried to use samsons to support local small mom & Pop business. My first experience with them I had a new tire installed on my sons 96 xr100. They charged me $ 100 when they quoted me $ 75. I decided to give them another chance when my other sons 99 xr100 was knocking extremely loud. I took it to samsons and asked them to trouble shoot the noise and call me with the verdict. They took two weeks to call me with the bad news that it had been run low on oil and the top end was shot. I asked them to quote me a rebuild price and they said close to $ 600. But he would buy it from me for $ 250. I declined the offer asked him to put it back together and I’ll settle up with him. It took him another week to call to pick it up. Then he charged me $ 100 for 1hrs work to take he head off and put it back on. When I questioned this high price they said that’s what they charge to tear one down and put it back together. I reminded them they did not tear it down, they only took the top head off. They would not budge on the price. So I paid them what I owed & let them know that will be the last dollar they get from me. I also called other shops within 40 miles and asked what there cost would be for this. With out telling what i was charged they all quoted $ 50 max. So if your thinking of supporting Samsons Cycles, I would advice you not too. But if you do I hope you have a lot of time and money.
