Their large gluten free menu is a plus. Thankfully my wife does not have celiac disease but she tries to stay away from gluten and Kaldera has a nice selection of well executed GF meals. Their bar needs a LOT of help with cocktails. Unimpressed for sure. Overall, a nice spot in Pella.

Great food and atmosphere. Love the Hot Mama Mia, the Mama Georgiana’s Kokonisto and the lasagna. Their house salad is a great addition to any meal. Try their fried green beans or the saganaki(fried cheese) for starters. Best food in Pella!

We thought the food was great, but the food coming out of the kitchen was incredibly slow. It took close to an hour for 4 specials to come out, and a pasta dish off the menu came out 10 minutes later. When we asked the server, he said something about some large parties, but people who came in after us had no problem getting their food. We spoke to a manager as we left, and her only reply was that it was Saturday night and they don’t use microwaves. There was no attempt to speak to the server and find out if there was a problem with our order, and no attempt to resolve our issue. We did not ask for anything, nor did we expect anything, other than that our concerns be taken seriously, not simply glossed over and made excuses for.

One of my favorite restaurants not only in Pella but in general! Don’t let the fact that it’s in a small town fool you – Kaldera has an amazing menu with incredibly quality food. With a great mix of Greek, Italian, and American food you really can’t go wrong I personally love the hot mama Mia. The atmosphere and service is also great, which really adds to a positive experience. But don’t get too full during dinner, because the bugatsa – a fried pastry with cream – is so heavenly you’ll need to finish the whole thing.(With a big scoop of vanilla ice cream of course!)

Omg! Had the duck… a medallion sliced breast in a a wine and mushroom sauce. Try it! The presentation is attractive with rice and mixed fresh greens. I am impressed enough to have dessert… baklava!

This is a fabulous restaurant for a dinner date. A hidden gem of the area. I love the atmosphere and highly recommend ordering the saganaki and yell«opa» I got the beef tender and it was excellent, the food is fantastic. I love the house salad dressing. The portions are excellent. Also got the salmon with the dill sauce, absolutely amazing. If you are in the area I highly recommend and don’t forget to get a Founders angry bastard beer, excellent. Dessert is amazing also, so many choices you can’t go wrong.

We made reservations day off but when we arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday, we wouldn’t have had trouble getting a table, it appeared. They were pretty packed by the time we left so might be worth calling ahead. We arrived and were sat immediately and the hostess was busy but very nice and inviting. Our drink orders were taken promptly(along with an appetizer order) and drinks arrived quickly as well. Our waitress gave us a run down of the specials, of which their were 4(all variations of 4 oz medallion steak with extras) and after hearing them I was faced with a dilemma… Too much looked and sounded delicious. the Hot Mama Mia looked freaking delicious, the toscana something or other… everything just looked good. In the end though i had to go with one of the specials. I ordered a 4 oz bacon-wrapped medallion steak served with a side of sun-dried tomato and smoked cheese ravioli. Our appetizer arrived very quickly(fried calamari) and it was delicious. It was a pretty sizable portion that we split between 4 people easily. The calamari were very meaty(thicker than I normally see like thick clam strips) and were fried perfectly and not the least bit greasy. They came with a sauce that was good for dipping. It wasn’t the best calamari I’ve ever had(but that’s a high bar to clear) but it was excellent and satisfying. Our salads arrived right on the heals of us finishing the calamari. We all got the house salad with their garlic something or other dressing. I’m pretty particular about dressings(I only particularly like Caesar and Italian…) but it sounded good so I went with it. It was, in fact, quite good. The salads were pretty good sized and I only ate about half cause I knew I was going to be full before I ever got my entrée if i ate it all. Good croutons, good lettuce, good dressing… good salad. Our entrees came just as we finished the salads and they all looked excellent. My steak was cooked to my liking and was good. It could have used a touch more seasoning, perhaps, but a good steak doesn’t need too much help and this was a good steak. The dish also came with a couple slices of an Italian-y bread/crustini type of thing of bread with some garlic and olive oil or butter. It was tasty. The highlight of the dish though was the ravioli. I could have just had that and been totally satisfied. They were perfectly cooked and the filling was smoky and delicious and just altogether yum! It took some doing but I managed to power though being full toward the end and was able to eat it all. It was a very satisfying meal. Everyone seemed really happy with their dinners(Another special of steak and salmon with garlic mashed potatoes, bacon cheeseburger & fries, the chicken toscano thing). All in all, the food at Kaldera is delicious. Great date night, dinner out, special evening, or just in the mood for something filling and delicious dinner type of thing. If I had to criticize anything, toward the end our wait service started to seem a little slow(she seemed to be running constantly and maybe just a touch overworked — definitely not a matter of her forgetting us or slacking off) but they were getting quite busy by that point and maybe were a touch understaffed. If I got nitpicky, all our dinners came out on different plates that were a little comical. One entrée on a huge(way bigger than needed) rectangular plate, mine came on a curvy triangular plate, one round, another square… The big plate and mine were a little awkward on the table. It just seemed a touch disjointed. I LOVE all things plates too but seems like they could simplify just a touch. The décor is a little random(leopard print carpet upon arrival was a little something and antlers and drift wood light fixtures(kind of liked them) in our dining room… I liked the random wire screens that matched the menu design… There was just a lot going on and some of it just wasn’t my personal taste but it wasn’t anything that took away anything and mostly I’m just rambling now… Basically, Kaldera = delicious. You would do well to stop in for dinner. Side note, says casual on Unilocal but I’d say it is borderline dressy. Or at least small town dressy. I was in a t-shirt and felt a little under dressed(but I wasn’t alone) so dress how you like, you just might feel a touch out of place.

I went to College in the town over, in my undergrad and graduate years there I never have tried this place. It really is crazy to think not once have I even been in the parking lot until this weekend! We stopped her for dinner while in town for the Tulip festival. Upon entering the restaurant is very nice inside, very good job on that. Even though it was busy from tourists we got a table fast. We tried the Saganaki, because we like our cheese on fire, we like making a scene, and we like to yell«Opa». Yes they light your cheese on fire and you yell, why wouldn’t you order this? It was really good as well were the pita slices they gave with it. Salads came out next, small side salad with a nice gingerish/thousand islandish maybe flavored dressing, simple and good. After that my delicious smoked cheese ravioli with a 4oz bacon wrapped fillet came out and for less than $ 20! What a steal! The ravioli were amazing, not your typical filling, had a nice rich flavor to it with a unique homemade sauce. The fillet was great as well, they did a awesome job with that steak, happy that they made sure both items were made to their full potential. Quite the steal for the price. Of coarse we had desert, got the caramel cheesecake which was a nice finish to our wonderful meal. If your in the awesome town of Pella make this one of your stops, you will come hungry and leave happy.
