Whenever I am in Pembroke Pines I always find myself stopping here for a café con leche and a pastry. They are always great. I have had meals hear as well and the food is good but, the coffee is the best.

If you plan on going to have a meal at the bar be prepared to wait a very long time for basically everything. The bartender is overwhelmed from having to service the waitresses who at times to me appeared to be rude, loud and obnoxious to her. This is my second experience going there and it was like groundhogs day the second time… Literally the same thing happened. The food was so-so… I will be going back to Las Vegas or Vilas for my Cuban fix!

Good Caribbean(Cuban) food, good device and good(cheap) prices equals a very satisfied patron! My friends and I missed the all-u-can-eat Sunday brunch buffet(0700 — 1100) because we got tied up at Sunday service. The service provide by Teresa and the back-waiter were a great demonstration of coordination and teamwork. Our entrées came out as per ordered and I just love it when servers clear you empty dishes without having them sit in front of you endlessly, one of my pet peeves about the service industry. I ordered the palomilla steak –which reminds me of veal– grilled to your temperature specifications with mauro rice –white rice mixed with black beans– and a side of fried plantains. Don’t forget to ask for the chimichurri for the steak to add a little zest to your plate. Another thing I enjoy about La Carretta is that they have fresh squeezed sugarcane juice(guarapo) that I can get while dining in it at the to-go window. Add a squeeze of fresh lime to add another fresh level of flavour. If you are longing for a GOOD bowl of grandma’s chicken noodle soup, stop by La Carretta to get a hearty bowl of deliciousness. Frankly, put, you should t be disappointed when you dine at La Carretta. It’s one of South Florida’s restaurant institution –even though it’s a chain restaurant. Bön provecho, amigos!

What a delight it was to find out that La Carreta was open on new year’s day and offering not only their regular menu but a breakfast buffet to those in attendance. I kept it classy, I went for the milanese steak which always does the job and the wife got the breaded steak. We both left happy with our selection, service and certainly the pricing. The quality of the food never disappoints those looking for good cuban food in the Pembroke pines area and although I’ve heard this is not the best Cuban restaurant in South Florida, I’d like to think that it comes very close to the other ones. My 3rd time at this location was just as good as the 1st one and consistency is really hard to find in the restaurant industry. portions are great, dishes come out hot and fresh and the friendly staff completes the trifecta at every visit.

I don’t seem to learn. This by far is the location with the worst service from any of their chain restaurants. Even picking up at the window is a struggle. They get the order wrong they take too long and it is very disorganized. The man in front of me got charged for two coffees instead of one and the service attendant actually asked him why he wouldn’t take the two coffees. I’m giving this a two stars only because some of their food is OK. My order today consisted of Cuban toast which is not really buttered and hard as a rock. Coffee with milk which can burn your tongue off into Cuban pastries. The guava one is actually delicious and the meat one taste like the meet is rancid. Hopefully now that I have posted this I will not allow myself to return.

The taste, portion, and price make this place a winner. I had a coworker order breakfast and ask if wanted anything and I am so glad I ordered! It was very good and a really good price for the portion. $ 8 got me eggs bacon coffee bread and home fries.

The weekend breakfast buffet is the best out there. I just wish it wasn’t so packed. But i can’t blame them for that, it’s just so good!

If I could rate no stars I would, first of all the manager Carlos was rude when I mentioned to him that my food was cold and I was disappointed. Use to come every now and then and now this will be my last time

Service was alright, the food was good, and the price was fair. Typical La Caretta. Will be going back. It also helps that they are so conveniently located.

Great food. I’m a sucker for anything with chorizo, and their sandwich, La Carreta Special, does not disappoint. Everything I’ve tried so far has been fantastic. The flan is nothing short of exceptional. My only complaint — be sure to specify you want a fountain drink if you’re ordering soda. Otherwise, they’ll bring you a can which they charge slightly more for(and obviously doesn’t include refills).

Many restaurants have taken the approach of adding lunch specials to their menu and La Carreta is no different. With almost 10 options and rotating daily specials on or around 10 bucks for full sized entrees this place gives you a bang for your buck. The restaurant is decorated in typical cuban décor with a touch of spaniard class. We started off with Guarapo(Sugar Cane Juice), mariquitas(fried plantain chips), and ajiaco(vegetable and mixed meat stew). The appetizers and drinks were consistent with cuban tradition. However the plantain chips did not taste freshly fried which made them taste just a tad under average. As for the entrees Vaca Frita(Fried Shredded Skirt Steak) and Bistec Empanizado(Breaded Steak) were both absolute mouth watering delights. The bistec empanizado had soft steak inside with a crunchy crisp texture from the breading outside. Make sure you use the lime it really brings out the flavor in the steak. To close out we finished off in cuban class with two cafecitos(Cuban Coffee) and an arroz con leche(Rice Pudding). The coffee was excellent sweet and strong. The rice pudding was not watery like in some places and not too dry it was perfect. This place would have gotten 4 stars easy maybe 5 stars trying a little harder but the social interactivity between the servers and the guest was low and this is a major setback in a cuban style restaurant as cubans are very outgoing people. The server although she was prompt and attentive did not smile much and pretty much felt like a vending machine. Other than that great food and nice place to go to for cuban casual dining.

I ordered dinner tonight for me and my husband and we are definitely disappointed over many points. The first problem is that everything was overcooked, the second is portion are incredibly small . the mash potato is a joke, a tiny boiled potato broken, no flavor no creamy, the bread was old the lemon was totally dry, The shrimp were decent in flavor but poor portion, the salmon was totally dry . It felt like we had a kids menu, we are hungry !!! Will not come back.

This place is my current obsession. My mother and I were running errands and just needed something quick to eat. We went to the cafecito side and got a tostada and a large café con leche for us to share. Big mistake! The coffee was so good we fought over how much we were drinking and the tostada was hot and crispy. My only complaint is there could be more butter on the tostada. This place has me dreaming about getting another coffee. I’ve also been here for the buffet and another time for lunch and the lunch was great. I’m not a fan of buffets, but it was good.

LaCarreta 7÷25÷15 University & Pines, parking lot small spots narrow, large dinning room open air location with Cuban art work /photos, always seems clean & nice. Lighting pleasant, music very low to off, inside bar, inside bakery, out side caffacito window. Lots of big booths & tables, restrooms clean, & stocked. Waiters John was very friendly, I had stop having delivery(after 4pm)& coming to eat here, because I had been told one of my favorite dishes was no longer served. Pollo Carretero(I/2 chicken white & dark) /which is different from pollo a la Blancha(all white) Well John ensured us they still had it, even went to back brought out a plate to show us. YES, & it was shown to me on the menu so this gringo could get his Cuban food fix back on. I have eaten La Carreta 8th st as long as I can remember & always find their food to be very good & consistent. I have eaten many Cuban spots Versalles, Rio Crystal, Chicos, LasVegas, Larios, etc, etc but La Carreta Black beans are some of the best. & yellow rice, Flan con Coco good. Palomia steak good — Welcome back my old friend. Cost $ 28 for 2 — plus tip, value level good Rating 9 of 10

This has been one of best restaurants I’ve reviewed on Unilocal to this point. I wanted to hug Sonia, our server, on the way out because the service and food was so good. If you aren’t sure what to get — order«The Classic». My first course was the avocado salad. The avocados were huge. I’m from Boston and we don’t have avocados like that. They were very fresh. I ordered a guanabana shake with water instead of milk which makes it more juicy. I’ve had the fruit in Costa Rica, but never in a shake form. It was very good, not too sweet but sweet enough. My main course was«The Classic», cubano sampler platter. I could decide what to order so I went with that. The plantains were the best plantains I’ve ever had. The tamale was delicious, the pork was perfect. I can go on and on. For dessert I had a small Café Cubano, it was espresso sweetened. I little more sweet than I expected but good nonetheless. I wanted to order the Tocinillo de cielo but they had ran out. Our serve suggested Tres Leches instead. It was rich but not too sweet. It was a good substitution. I can’t wait for the opportunity to dine here again!

4.5 stars I have been to this establishment on three occasions and each time the service, food and overall experience is great. I honestly cannot say anything bad about this place besides the fact that the bathrooms are not always the cleanest and because I like nice clean bathrooms just as most that’s why they did not get five stars. I have had a variety of different food items and everything I have had was very good and well seasoned with a nice flavor. I love their plantain chip with the mojo sauce they are a must everytime I’m here. Last night for the first time I had the tostones with shrimp and pineapple app OMG good! Still thinking about it nice balance of sweet and savory well seasoned and great texture contrast. As for service no complaints at all for me the staff is very attentive, warm and check on you often, but not overbearing. If you are looking for a good Cuban place in Broward check this place out.
