The cake was very pretty for the price. I order a rum cake with guava filling. I was looking forward to it since my grandma loves rum cake and it was for her birthday on 10÷27÷15. I couldn’t wait to cut it and eat it. Right after cutting it you could already tell how dry it was. Once we tried it, it was soooooo dry. The taste wasn’t like rum ATALL. It tasted like a regular cake that you can get anywhere. The guava filling was the only thing that was good since they put a good amount. SUPERDRYCAKEANDDIDNOTTASTELIKERUM. DEFINITELYNOTCOMINGBACKTOTHISPLACETOGETANYCAKES. I CANMAKE A BETTERRUMCAKEATHOME. 1 star for the guava filling if not I would have given them 0 stars.

I was born and raised in Miami, so naturally I grew up enjoying Sweet Art by Lucila. No family gathering or special occasion was complete without one or more of these delicious confections. I got married last fall in Washington, DC and was disappointed to learn Lucila does not ship. I asked(read: begged) my wedding party to haul a sheet cake on the plane so I could serve Lucila at my wedding reception. They just don’t do Cuban rum cake up here like they do in South Florida! The classic rum cake will always have a special place in my stomach, er heart but the guava and mango tarts are strong runners-up. They tend to get busy around the holiday season, but my family has never been disappointed by the quality or service.

I ordered a cake from Sweet Art by Lucila, what I ordered was not up to my standards. The cake taste good, but the Art that they advertise is not there. I paid $ 300. for something I could had made my self. Not happy when I saw the cake, it had a number that crumbled. If your a person that like to receive what you are paying for this is not the place for you. Once you receive your cake on the date of the event what can you do, you are stuck it. 4 years ago I also had ordered my daughters wedding cake and they got it all wrong. This year I spoke with the sales person and she indicated that they were new owner. FYI, Same mess as four years ago. Next time I’ll try Eldas and see if they are more reliable in their designs, They suck Designing. Again not happy

I found this location just driving by! I noticed the sign from the road and busted a quick right! I chose a cupcake and carrot cake both delicious but the staff were the stars. Excellent customer service and I saw a beautiful cake being picked up. Definitely will be back. The kitchen yes whenever I can I try to sneak back there was very clean and nothing was out of place. Great sign of ownership taking pride in their work and business.

My daughter wanted a Dr. Who cake for her birthday. With only a two day notice they delivered the most delicious cake I ever tasted. I was so worried because my daughter grew up on cakes from Publix and wasn’t sure if she would like the cake. It was better than Publix it was insanely delicious, we will get our birthday cakes grom Lucilas from now on.

We got a beautiful cake for my daughter’s birthday. It wasn’t ready on time of course when we came to pick it up … It was just sitting there and they hadn’t decorated it yet. We had to wait 45 minutes longer. We got it in the car and drove it home and in past experiences it never moved an inch. This one seemed fine until we got him and open the box. It was a mess! it seemed like they used to much of that liquid glaze all over it and they incorrectly place the bottom part so it didn’t sit right in the box in the first place. We ran back over there and requested they remake it. After a few minutes of fighting with them and asking for our money back in from of other customers I guess they realized it wasn’t good for business and offered to remake the cake but, were going to charge us $ 40 to deliver it. 3 hours later they delivered the cake and didn’t charge us for the delivery. The lady that has this face the whole time at the register was the one who dropped it off. The cake was beautiful. Horrible experience. Delicious cake!

For years, This place was our favorite to order our cakes! Now it’s under new management– and our most recent order was a disaster. We paid for a cake that they pretty much took an hour to throw together because they«lost» the request(though they charged our card already). It was my parents 30th anniversary cake! Their excuse was that it’s under new management, so there was nothing they could do!!! We will be taking our business to Edda’s!

I’ve ordered twice before from Sweet Art by Lucila for my daughter’s birthday & the cakes were beautiful & delicious so I figured it was the perfect place to order a cake from for my engagement party. I called & ordered the cake 11 days in advance for 30 ppl & was quoted $ 126. A little pricey but they did such a good job before that I didn’t mind. I called them back 3 days in advance to changed my order from 30 ppl to 35 ppl & the lady could not find my order. I was not happy. So she took my info down again, told me it would be $ 10 more & said not to worry that it would be taken care of. My sister & her bf went into the shop the next day just to check to make sure everything was good so we had a cake in a few days and again, they could not find any cake order for us. After some scrambling around they found my order in a separate drawer from their other cake orders. My sister confirmed everything was correct but they gave a different price than they told me over the phone & said I was told the wrong price. Not only have they now put us through such anxiety & madness by not having our order & quoting us the wrong price but they made no attempt at apologizing or compensating us for their mistakes. If I would have never called them to change my order & known they couldn’t find my cake order, I would have come to pick up my cake & they would have never made! Not only that but after we got the cake & cut into it, about 2 inches of the cake on the bottom was sitting on cardboard and wasn’t even part of cake so it made it look like it was bigger than it was. What a rip off! Will never do business with them again!

I’ve ordered 5 cakes from this place in the past 10 years and they’ve disappointed enough that I’ve started ordering from other vendors. Their cakes are delicious… especially when you order them with fillings like dulce de leche but getting a cake late on the day of the party… having the cake be made to look bigger by adding car board as a filler, and then being told I’d get a refund that 1 ½ years later I’m still waiting for… just not worth the trouble!

It’s been a while since I ordered anything from Lucila, but it was Thanksgiving and I wanted something decadent for dessert… a vanilla rum cake. I called the business and placed my order. The female who answered the phone was very nice and courteous. When I arrived five hours later to pick up my order, I could tell the place was busy. I was immediately greeted by a friendly face. The business is small, but it’s run very professionally. There are displays of wedding cakes, and cakes in the shape of animated characters. My Thanksgiving vanilla rum cake was decorated so pretty. The price went up from $ 17 to $ 18, but it still wasn’t a bad deal. I learned from their website: , that they make custom cakes for any occasion… weddings, birthdays, quinceaneras, baby & bridal showers, holidays, etc. They also make a variety of desserts and cupcakes in an array of pretty designs. If you can’t get to Sweet Art by Lucila in Pembroke Pines, there are three other stores in The Falls, Doral, and Bird Road; all in Miami. *NOTE* My guests, family, and I enjoyed the vanilla rum cake after the Thanksgiving feast. The cake was so moist and oozing with rum flavor… a perfect end to a delightful evening :-)

my review is based on the customer service I received placing my order. I wont be picking up my cake for another 2 days. but WOW The manager was awesome. she waited for me after hours, was very very nice, did not rush us into making a decision. and we walked out confident that out cake would not only be tasty, but it will look just like we want it. I would come back and add another review after I pick it up. but so far 5 starts!!!

their cakes aren’t cheap, but it’s TOP quality. They can also print any digital picture you bring them on the cakes. They are the reason I fell in love with rum cakes. It’s soooo moist and soft and just the right amount of sweetness and rum flavor that keeps you eating bite after bite. ok, i just drooled as I remembering the taste. Time to go get another one!

Sweet art by Lucila’s is a must everytime we need a cake. The cakes are deliciousl and have a subtle taste of rum which sets these cakes aside from all else. For my son’s birthday I wanted a cat in the hat cake and it was sooo difficult to find. I was aple to create a JPG file and they made it edible and made me a wonderful delicious cake. I love them and recommend them to anyone. Love the Pembroke pines store. very friendly and helpful.

My love affair with Lucila’s cakes started way back in the 90’s. I was living on campus at University of Miami and would often stop by the 1909 Café to pick up a sandwich and several of Lucila’s Cakes. When I graduated I moves to Hollywood which is very far from my beloved Lucila. Every time I went to Miami I made a point to stop by the 1909 Café and pick up a few slices. One day back in the early 2000’s…(I can’t remember what year as I’m getting old and senile)…I started having an intense craving for Lucila’s cakes. i commenced this internal debate with myself…“should I really drive all the way to Miami just for cake? Yes, you should drive all the way to Miami just for cake!!” In the midst of this debate it came to me… Check the internet to see if there is a closer location… maybe North Miami Beach or something. HALLELUJAH! There was a location in Pembroke Pines. I picked up my three slices of cake and was blissful… I kept going back for more. One day as I was purchasing my usual 3 slices the shopgirl said to me… for a few more dollars you can have a whole cake. OMG! Why on earth did this woman tell me this. I happily handed over my money and took my cake home. Now comes the embarrassing part… At first I would go to the fridge and retrieve dainty slices as I am a lady. After a while this got old… I then reached for a spoon and started heaping spoonfuls of Vanilla Rum Butter cake into my mouth. I wish I could explain how yummy this cake is… just about everyone that I’ve introduced to Lucila’s cakes have cursed me for turning them on to this decadent piece of cake.
