Very good supermarket. The prices are fair and reasonable for the area. They have an assortment of different meats in their cold poultry meat room. It beats Walmart for groceries. The meat is always fresh and cut in the store.

First time here. This place is great. If you BBQ or Smoke this is the place. ¼ of the store is a walk in freezer with rows of meat and poultry also great spice section to load up on. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the butchers where awesome in helping find the cuts I wanted. If they don’t have a certain cut on the shelf. Ask the butcher and they will cut it for you. Will be back for sure.

This supermarket has the best selection of meats that I’ve ever seen in one place. The prices are reasonable, too. The deli has freshly made soups, salads, and also hot items. The prices are low, too. I had a steak with onions with a side of boiled yucca for $ 3.99. The portions were huge. The bakery and produce area were extensive as well. I will make this my regular supermarket.

As others before me have said a Meat Lovers Heaven (Especially us BBQ types, Pit Masters and Slow Smoke Texans.
Great Produce, Breads, Prices and Parking.
What more do you want.

Great place, very big selection of everything!!! And you can’t bit the prices!!! And if you spend $ 60.00 you will get a 24pack of Nestle water! Great deal… Highly recommend!!!

Western Beef is OK not the best place but it does improve with a bunch of beef yummorama

Its a good choice supermarket for certain products. For example, their meat department is huge with very good prices and really nice cuts of beef. Bring a coat if you plan to buy a lot of meats because the entire area is inside a huge refrigerated room and it is cold! They make their own sausages and are very good. Very often they sell the filet mignon for $ 5.99 a pound. They come in average 3 – 7 pounds and require you to clean a little excess fat but still a great value.
Their produce department offer good prices too, as compared to the green supermarket that are popular in Florida.
It also has a great bakery with lots of different types of breads. You bag them yourself.
Now their best value is this ongoing sale in their prepared foods section. For $ 2.99 you get a meat and two sides. I’m talking rice, beans and beef stew or whatever other meats or side combination you prefer. One of these feeds two adults!
Another thing that I find inexpensive here are their selections of specialty cheeses. Good quality cheese at a great price.

Went here for the first time because my hubby wanted to buy meat to throw on the grill. He kept talking up their walk-​in meat locker so I walked in. Its clean and organized. The meat locker is freezing but the meat looked fresh and so did the fish and giant octopus. The average price for the food was reasonable and affordable.

Went shopping here for the first time today. I do like the place. The employees are nice, especially in the meat department. About that meat department: it is an enclosed icebox, essentially. It’s a separate room and the temp in the room is between 38 and 45 degrees. It’s so cold I can see my own breath. I guess the meat stays fresher this way. Next time I go there, I’ll be sure to bring a parka.

PROS:
The bread bakery section is the highlight of western beef. There fresh and you can get them for reasonable prices. Three for $ 1.00 for Italian, wheat, semolina, and Portuguese rolls. Publix hoagie rolls go for over $ 2.00 for a pack of 4. Garlic Pretzel are 79 cents each and taste just as good as the Wetzel /​Aunt Anne. The freezer section contains pizza bread for $ 2.50, which are similar to Stouffers French bread pizza, but better. They also have focaccia bread for $ 2.99 and pizza dough for 99 cent each (wheat or regular). I would avoid the bigger pizza as the crust is just too thin and taste like cardboard. The bread section of this store is why I come back.
–They have sandwiches to go for $ 1.99, which beats Publix ready to go sandwiches at around $ 5. (Sometimes there, sometimes not)
–Produce section is okay when it comes to quality. It is a hit or miss. The grapes were sweet and firm one week and then the next they were mushy and tart. The same statement can apply to Publix as well. I have bought roma tomatoes, peppers, bananas and they were good. I would recommend stiles market over publix or western beef.
–Deli Whole Dill Pickels for 99 cent. Located in the deli section
CONS:
–No boars head
–The grocery section of the store has a winn Dixie /​save a lot vibe to it. I do not think customers even come for the grocery section much. This is where Publix/​Walmart kills them. The atmosphere still has that gloomy Albertson vibe to it. The store gives off a ghetto vibe.
–Publix has its buy 1 get 1 free specials weekly and western beef just does not offer that.
–The last time I checked Western Beef does not accept internet coupons. They have no buy 1 get 1 free and no internet coupons so you will not be saving a lot. The last time I used a Sunday paper coupon it caused a huge commotion. The cashier looked confused and had to call the manager over… it was just a huge aggravation.
–the bread cage glass needs to be replace. Its too stiff.
–The meats section is not as good as Penn Dutch. In addition, they have no package for single people or small families. Everything is in huge quantity. Penn Dutch offers sizes for everyone. Also its freezing!
–The bread bags should be transparent in the front like Publix. It is annoying to see the cashier stick his/​her face in the bag to see what you got.
–The grape bags are open and will fall all over at checkout counter.
–The deserts are not made fresh daily like the breads. I tried the cupcakes and they were stale. They probably would have tasted great fresh though. Publix and Doris Italian Market has them beat in the deserts department
–The old Albertson had two entrances and now they closed one side off. Why?
–Be prepared to be annoyed by the JEHOVAH WITNESSES in the parking lot. Also at the front they have a guy trying to sell DYING NEWSPAPERS. Inside they might have a those «We sell gold» guys annoying you with their card. A few months ago there was an annoying wine woman going around trying to sell wine. You just don’t see this stuff at publix. Really annoying and it scares off customers.
–You need a key to use the bathroom. Ghetto
****UPDATE*** MAY 2014:
–Good news! They return the pizza bread now for $ 1.50. The pizza section is now outside of the freezer.
–The produce section is somewhat mediocre. They still sell the grapes in an open bag which spills when you checkout.
–The bread rolls are now priced at 5 for $ 2.00. One less roll. The sweet bread is now $ 1.29 instead of 99 cents. They need better tongs and glass doors need to be replace.
–Despite having the ovens they still don’t do bakery goods.
–You really can’t get any feedback from western beef as their customer service never responds to your emails like Publix does.
–Deli section has improved in some ways. They now offer a $ 2.99 dinner meal. Their meats and cheese seem of better quality of late, but still their meat and cheese specials start at $ 4.99. Lately they have been offering serrano ham for 3.99, still nowhere never penn dutch usually 2.99 price.
–They never seem to have good deals on seafood. When they opened a couple of years ago they had plenty.

I love the beautiful selection of fresh fruit and vegetables,
I always find fresh escaroles, swiss chard, kale and broccoli rabe here!
The walk in cooler is always full of fresh meat, just remember to bring a sweater when you go to this place !
Now that I found Western Beef I never buy produce anywhere else.
I wish they had better prices on household supplies.

I love the fact that this store is now here in FL. I come from NJ but I used to go to their stores in NY… What can i say about this place… great competitive prices… The produce is fresh & cheap. Do not go there on the weekends because it is crazy busy.
I love the walk in cooler for ALL types of meat and if you want it cut or meat of your choice, the butchers are right there to help you. Make sure you get a sweatshirt or a hoodie get a jacket because it gets very cold very fast. I love it but the women will freeze really fast. lol
Love the prices of the deli– Cheap and fresh. they do need help behind the counter on weekdays
No wait on weekdays but on weekends be prepared to wait in line :)

Today I will grill plump sardines that have a size about the length of my elbow to my wrist. I will pretend I am in Greece as the juices of succulent lemons bathe them over open flame. My larder is filled with a juicy leg of goat that is the color of a burnished garnet — so red and meaty. I have two rib eyes and two veal chops that at any other store in South Florida would have broke my budget and left me the victim of having to open up a Pabst Blue Ribbon when what I want is a Stella. How did I manage the savings? Where did I find these culinary treasures? Western Beef! Clean aisles (sorry Penn Dutch), fresh fish (hence the Sardines, and a very yummy looking rainbow trout — oh and did I mention the scrumptious frog legs I fried up last night?!), abundant meats, cheeses and a deli that would make the owners of Zabar’s blink… twice. You can find it ALL at Western Beef. I am already counting on my return!
BTW, reading some of the other reviews where it was mentioned that there were long waits — I did not find this to be a problem AT ALL. The staff was courteous, helpful in every department — knowledgeable — and checkout was pretty breezy — plus they also took my coupons (yes I cut those little pieces of paper and feel no shame!).

Western Beef is a New York Market chain new to south Florida. There are many things I love about this store. The prices are very competative they beat the other local chains in most categories, their sale items are worth visiting the store every week just to purchse them. Their adds run from Friday to Thursday, different from other chains. Their meats are some of the best and inexpensive I have found, they also have butchers ready to custom cut any purchase you make.
Their seafood department is by far the best I have seen in this area, with both fresh and frozen selections, they also have sale items woth checking out every week.
I am a repeat customer hooked on the quality, variey, and price this market provides.

As of yesterday the store was jumping! They had a DJ at the entrance?! (Who does that?) Every cashier was filled, every shelf was stocked. The prices were great it was CLEAN and bright. I was in and out with about 10 bags of groceries and a 12 pack in less than an hour.

i was dragged to western beef to check it out right after it opened. It seems really seedy on the outside but its not so bad when you walk in besides the police officer guarding the front. They have VERY good deals on meats, poultry, and seafood. As for everything else, it reminds me of a run down Kmart or something. I got a bunch of good deals while I was there. But there is something about the atmosphere that bugs me, I don’t know what it was. Trying all the food I got, everything seemed fresh and fine. One thing that bugs me in the back of my head is «How do they get such cheap prices?» Maybe we shall never know! But if you’re looking for like 10 limes for a dollar or cheap skirt steak, check them out! One last tip: it isn’t in the best area so bring a friend or pepper spray.

This place is pretty much forgettable other than their seafood and meat sections, which are great! The meat freezer is a HUGE walk in with soo much stuff in it, and the seafood is fresh fresh fresh! We got lobster for dinner tonight and spent less than $ 7 on each, which is an amazing deal. The normal dry food and produce sections are not as impressive, but if you’re looking for great sales on meat or seafood you have to check this place out.
I’m not going to lie though, the illustrated food products throughout the store creeped me out.

Patience… That’s what you need here and lots of it.

Not so good… not so bad. Reasonable prices on produce and meats that are on sale. I do like how «different» their meat department is (awesome on a hot day). They also carry a decent amount of South American foods in the international aisle. I’ve been there twice and never had to wait in line more than 2 minutes. I had friendly service at the meat counter and register both times.

OMG it was a nightmare. Literally. This experience of a supermarket can be summed up in 5 words: CHEAP, BUSY, HOUR CHECKOUT, GHETTO. And in that order too, so if you are one of those people who’s willing to save money (and buy an ENTIRE cart of food to do it) AND wait 1+ hours in line, then please go for your wallet’s sake. But if you’re like me and NOT FEEDING A VILLAGE, maybe your hour can be spent some where else and the money saved is NOT worth it.
Granted, I went grand opening day but dang it I should have came out with a 10G I-​pod and a smile on my face with the time I spent there but I DIDN’T. They do have cheap things (like all grocery stores) some items cheaper than other stores, others not. $.99 pineapple, $.59 for a single tomato, 2 for $ 1 giant avocados (not the Haas ones those are $ 1.49 each), $ 3.99/lb. for tiger shrimp (or whatever it was called), $ 4.99 for a 20 lb. bag of long grain rice (with an easy $ 10 minimum purchase), etc. $.99/​lb. chicken breast, etc. Olive oil was like $ 15 for an entire metal square can (but it was some odd brand). That’s CHEAP.
BUSY, opening day. Carts are hard to find. Parking is hard to find. Time will tell how busy it will be 1, 2, 12 months from today. But time will ALSO tell how CHEAP/​competitive their prices will be. The checkout is ridiculous and walking through the aisles is even more ridiculous. And though I can’t control the turds who insist on leaving their carts in the aisles which may be okay if it was an empty store but it’s rather «frustrating» with «50 billion» people along with a full shopping cart for each person/​family. If you still want to go I recommend you DON’T go alone. That way one of you can shop and the other can stand in line and cut down the 1+ hours it takes to check out. I am SO NOT kidding. Say goodbye to your afternoon, or night (or morning).
HOUR CHECKOUT. It really takes an hour + to checkout. Everyone and their mama has an ENTIRE cart filled with food and it’s not like they were GIVING away food for pennies either, though it was cheaper. Guess you’ll have to look (and maybe NOT CHECKOUT) to scope out the price comparisons for yourself. They’re not fast like Aldi either. Maybe it’s because they’re still training their people but with a bagger and a cashier I was expecting it to move faster than it did. Once again I’m guessing the FULL CARTLOAD of food per person might have SOMETHING to do with it. ;=)
GHETTO. It used to an Albertsons. It’s now kind of like a Sedanos but with 10x the feet (head count). The lanes were sticky, dirty and in desperate need of a mop. Nasty sandals after I left. =(The carts were wobbly and it was so busy it’s not like I could choose another cart. There was water, meat juices and nasty stickiness (from meat and other items) EVERY WHERE. That giant picture of a lemon with a wide smile is also freaky. Like some really ugly Moulin Rouge painting gone really oogly. It looked like graffiti paint.
The seafood department was a mess. So disorganized. It’s one thing to be brand new but it’s another thing to not even have your friggin COUNTER/​NUMBERING working. Grab a number? No, I didn’t because the counter was stuck on 00. I don’t even know how I managed to get any shrimp but I will say I was (VERY) patient. They didn’t know which number they were on and starting counting from 1 every time. One customer even made a snide comment about, «Why are you saying 1,2,3,4 when I have 19 and he just went and he obvious had 12 so why are you saying 1,2,3!!!» Smart arse but the Western Beef employee really did say, «1,2,3…» How many 1s could there be?
And finally the only reason I waited 1+ hours in line was because I started being optimistic and (kinda) patient so after ½ an hour I was just hell bent on making it to the END because I had ALREADY wasted ½ an hour of my life in line ALREADY! I should have left at 15 minutes but I tried to be calm and just ended up being miserable. For $ 33 and 2 hours later I bought 6 jugs of Arizona Tea ($ 2 each), 3.18 lbs worth of $ 3.99/lb. Tiger shrimp ($ 13), 4 cartons of Ssips (cheap juice) at $.99 each, 4 giant avocados (2 for $ 1), 3 pineapples ($.99 each) but you can be the judge if that kinda «cheap shopping THRILL» is your cup of tea because it definitely wasn’t for me.
