My wife and I took our 1 year old daughter for ice cream to this establishment. The first thing we noticed was what can only be described as a swarm of middle school aged children in the parking lot on bicycles. The fact that these kids were darting around between cars, making out in the middle of the parking lot and generally making an annoyance of themselves is really not the owner’s fault, but it does hurt from a business appeal front and the owner or manager might want to think about shooing these children from his property. As for the business, the employees were great. The girls behind the counter were very nice and good with my daughter. Their ice cream was delicious, however that day the soft-serve was not solid enough for the cone I requested, so I settled for a dish. The biggest annoyance was that this is a cash/check only restaurant. I did not see the signage until after we had ordered, and luckily I had my checkbook in the car because, like most people these days, I hardly carry cash. I would definitely return to this establishment in the future if they accept credit/debit and there is no gaggle of children in the parking lot.

I went to Sweet Temptations with the kids this past weekend. They have always loved to go there, but the last I had heard, it had been damaged in the hurricane last fall and had been closed. There was nothing on the outside of the building to show that it had reopened, you would think that the owner would at least put something on the sign or hang a banner up. Weird?! I saw people in there and decided to treat the kids. Obviously what the owner lacks in self-promotion, he/she makes up for in hiring skills. The two young ladies working behind the counter(I asked their names because they were so awesome — it was Erin and Brenna(sp?) greeted us as soon as we opened the door. Everything was completely spotless even though a larger party had just left as we were entering. Customer service like this is rare in the Slate Belt these days and was much appreciated! 5 Stars for Service. When the kids wavered a bit as to their selections, free samples were offered. My son had a nice-sized dish of Italian ice and my daughter had a sundae. Everything tasted absolutely wonderful. However, I must have missed the teeny-weeny notice on the door — because when I went to pay — Guess what — Cash only! I had to scurry over to the neighboring Turkey Hill and hit the ATM to pay for the kids’ ice cream. It is 2013 and it is time to accept debit cards at the very least. Obviously if I am short on cash, I will be driving past here and going to one of the Slate Belt’s other fine ice cream establishments. We cleaned up after ourselves as best as possible and it was by now near closing. The employees were busily restocking everything and cleaning up, but never once did we feel rushed out the door. In fact, we got a very cordial«Goodbye, see you soon» as we left.

Even though I prefer giving my business to a locally owned shop rather than a chain, this place beats out the competition on it’s own! It’s been recently renovated due to the hurricane so it’s clean and the workers are friendly. They do not accept credit cards — bring cash!
