PHENOMENAL! I am SO glad they exist here! The local organic vegan«compost plate» was so delicious and hearty and made me feel good afterwards! Blueberry scone was THEBESTSCONE I’VEEVERHAD! Mooseberry tea rocked my world! I am jumping for joy! And now they are going to be having Zumba Classes! What a cool place! :-)

; the dedicated & knowledgable cooks, artisans & vendors make Mooseberry a wondrous hidden gem of a Café. Featuring the art works of local glass sculptors, photographers, jewelry makers, wood carvers, & so much more, this joint is a feast for the eyes even before they sate your belly. Add to this their passion for hand-made organic soaps in a myriad of scents & flavors, sugar scrubs, & a plethora of other health/beauty products, & one almost forgets about the all amazing organic food & drink!(almost) — but don’t worry, the scents of original recipe coffees, teas, baked goods & stove top dishes bring you right back to the table in short order. What this place lacks in posh refinements it overwhelms with character & eclectic awesomeness. In my humble opinion, those that can’t seem to recognize the excellence of Mooseberry lack both imagination & an appreciation for building a novel business from the ground up. Whether you want to eat deliciously healthy food, peruse interesting art works, indulge your sweet-tooth, or just chill out with a book, good music & coffee, this place should be at the top of your list.

This little café has very good food that is not your standard fare. However, the service can be extremely slow. I don’t mind a slow meal, with time to visit with friends, but two of us waited 40 minutes for lunch food. And then my grilled cheese was cold. I’d go back because I think you need to be fair in case it was a bad day. But there’s no excuse for serving hot food cold.

Food was acceptable with some different twists. The service was very poor. It took almost 15 minutes to get a glass of water and an iced tea. Lunch was served in 50 minutes! Considering we ordered just a salad and French toast, that time was unacceptable. They were not busy at all. Only one other patron. Price turned out to be quite high, too. I wouldn’t go back.

The Mooseberry Café in Penfield NY is what you make of it. For us, its about gathering together much like we do in our own home around a comfortable table and great coffee, enjoying a remarkable healthy breakfast or brunch in an organic environment that offers great food, and a variety of items that fit well with a healthy pallet. I call ahead, I reserve a table and request what I am looking for and the service and quality is nothing short of outstanding. Last week we enjoyed crumbled topped fruit muffins along with freshly baked whole wheat breads, Egg dishes and vanilla french toast. topped with maple syrup and berries from this venue is simply wonderful. I usually send my guests on a mission to select a couple soap varieties from the 75 available and they come back with tough choices to make. The rose lilac is my current favorite. I recommend you visit; and know you will not be disappointed.

My girlfriend and I traveled here to check this place out after she saw a groupon deal for the place(she didn’t buy the groupon as we live over an hour away). We were going to be in the area so we decided to stop on a Saturday afternoon. The café is in a really, really odd location. If you were driving by and not looking for it, you wouldn’t even know it was there. It’s kind of behind/in the back of a warehouse set back really far off the road. There is a small sign by the road and another sign in the parking lot directing you behind the building to get the café. Just seems like a really bad location. The reason the building looks like a warehouse is because it IS a warehouse! Apparently they make their own line of organic/natural soaps there and the café kind of grew out of that business. Makes sense… I guess. The café seems to have been plopped in the back of the warehouse and walled off to create a separate area to call a café. Hence, the atmosphere isn’t the greatest but they really did try. There’s kitchy country-esque folk art on the walls and a lot of moose stuff/art everywhere. Also, very oddly, there’s a gigantic piano smack dab in the middle of the café that literally takes up about a third of the seating area. Just weird… and not very conducive to easy traffic flow. The menus on the walls were a little hard to decipher too. Just oddly laid out and not very easy to understand. I got a café au lait which was ok and an oatmeal raisin cookie that tasted like pure oatmeal. Holy crap. Totally not palatable. I had to choke it down with my coffee drink. My girlfriend got a homemade pomegranate soda type thing which was good and a bowl of their homemade chili. The chili was alright but definitely not awesome or noteworthy in any way. We got some fudge to take out and that was actually really good. I would definitely get that again if I ever made it back here, which given everything it has going against it, I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go here again. The owner chatted with us for a few minutes as the café was closing and she seemed like a genuinely nice woman who is really trying to do a great thing. I can’t really see this place appealing to the broader masses who already think all vegan food is hippie crap that sucks though. Also of note, very little of the menu is actually vegan. They did have a fair amount of vegan baked goods on the menu but were out of quite a bit of them by the time we had arrived in the early afternoon. I wish this place all the best and hope they can step their game up so they can stick around for a while.
