I had been getting my eyebrows done at Benefit Cosmetic counters before I moved to Penn Valley, and with no such thing in the vicinity I was excited to try out one of the local options. After some« Unilocaling», I decided to go to Head to Heal Day Spa. I got eyebrows waxed by a woman named Carol, and not only did she do a good job, but she also charges much less than what I was used to paying(inlcuding tip), so I was pleased with my first experience; she seemed very pleasant. Then I made another appointment with Carolynn(a different woman) a few months later. My appointment was for the day of the«big storm», so she had called the day before to see how far as I was traveling from. We ended up chatting for a second and I told her that I would like to keep the appointment and would text/call her if the weather was too bad-I only lived down the street, after all. She said ‘okay’. My appointment was at eleven, the spa doors were locked and I couldn’t seem to get through to the spa or to Carolynn’s phone. I know sometimes appointments can run late, so I waited in the parking lot for about twenty minutes. Tried one last time to open the spa doors, and then tried to call Carolynn one last time before I decided to stop wasting my time. She didn’t call me until ANHOURAND A HALF later and told me an appointment ran late; I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and assumed there must have been some scheduling error. She offered to do my eyebrows for free, and I thought that was a pretty professional/reasonable way about handling the situation. So I called her back a few days later and left a voicemail asking if she had any open slots for the week, and never heard back. Maybe I’m being bratty, but I feel like I made an appointment like I was supposed to, and then waited patiently for that appointment, ANDTHEN was stood up-so I should not be kept waiting so long to hear back. I’d rather just drive to down to Roseville and get my eyebrows done at Benefit again, they’ve never let me down before and they’ve certainly flaked out on me at the last minute.

Only did an eyebrow wax here, might be better for facials and the like… I feel like my hair grew back quickly and the wax wasn’t very good. Also didn’t like the fact that there was complaint of credit card fees from the lady… It’s 2013 and that’s what people use.

I love having massages at Head to Heal. I’ve been coming to Myrrah for 2 years. She does an amazing job of finding those tight spots in the muscles and gently working them out. The atmosphere is totally relaxing, with calming background music. I’ve had both one hour and hour and a half massages, but never want them to end. I have thought of the 5 hour massage, using a relay team. Myrrah has magic hands! I wish I could afford to put her on «staff.» Recently, I fell while hiking and needed an immediate massage. With Myrrah unavailable, Sonata stepped in and gave me a wonderful massage, really focusing on the torn muscles of my calves. She used a variety of methods, using hammers, stones, oils, and her hands. What a master! I can highly recommend Head to Heal for massage. Truly great!

I just recently found this hidden gem in Penn Valley of all places! I had a massage here with the most amazing massage therapist ever, Sonata(not sure if I got the spelling right). As soon as you walk in the feeling of pampering and relaxation is in the air! The office is stocked with every kind of product your face, lips, or hands could ever need, to top it off there is an array of different aromatherapy lotions as well. As soon as I was done looking over every Dermologica and Youngblood product they had(I’m a huge fan of both!) I went into the massage room Let me tell, it was like walking into a museum of calm! The décor simply screamed(in a tranquil way) come in and relax, and I more than gladly complied. The therapist herself seemed to exude an aura of relaxation, I could my tension easing just by talking to her! The massage itself I can’t say much about because I feel asleep almost immediately… something I can barely do at nights anymore with all my worries. I can tell you that her techniques were very well crafted, maybe whatever country she’s from is known for their massage therapist expertise not known in the states. The oils she used,(her special blend, she said) should be bottled and sold because the smell of them alone is enough to send a person to nirvana! She also very receptive to my requests, but even more so she was like freaky intuitive in the way she knew the location of all the tight spots I’ve had! Overall, this was an amazing experience with an amazing professional the likes of I haven’t encountered outside of the most luxurious spas in the Bay Area. I will be back again and again, buy some gift certificates for every member of my family and even try out their esthetician for one of the advertised facials, as suggested by Sonata. If you’re reading this… do yourself a favor don’t waste money on any other spa within driving distance, head to Penn Valley and treat yourself to the best experience money will ever buy you… and check back for my update about that facial that I’ll be scheduling any day now. and why hasn’t anybody Unilocaled wonders about this place yet, did they just open or something?
