Great tasting wines and yummy appetizers. Everyone there was so nice and friendly. They don’t charge for tastings and they don’t accept tips. Beautiful grounds. This winery is a hidden gem!

Stopped in with family … Enjoyable experience. Location and seating arrangement was exceptional. Friendly, knowledgable and attentive staff. I drink big reds when possible and their cab franc was very good. The Syrah was much better than most(while never my favorite) and still a little light and fruity.

Beautiful setting in Penn Valley just minutes from Highway 20. A feeling that you’re somewhere else for a few hours drinking wines or beer and snacking on a small cheese tray. A live band covered rock dance music creating a lively atmosphere. Due to noise ordinance, the evening ends at 10p. Warm weather and natural setting so dress comfortable.

I can’t thank Pilot Peak enough for helping to make my Boyfriend’s 30th birthday wine tasting so special! We had been in the past, and had no doubt it would be just as fun as our individual trips, but I would be lying if I said I was hesitant to bring a large group in… I emailed them in advance, just to make sure bringing that many people at once was ok, and they replied RIGHT back! We had a group of SIXTEEN(15 participating), and they accommodated us, and treated us like we were old friends! By the end of our tasting, we had guests inviting Jacque back to the house to continue our celebration! lol. They were just so pleasant and attentive with us. They answered all of our questions(we have a lot of wine enthusiast in the group) and provided samples of wines not included in the tasting. I had some guests comment to me that a lot of the time they go to wineries and feel like they are being herded through, and often don’t even like ONE of the samples… but here they felt like they could really get an idea of their favorite, and liked many! I think that Pilot Peak gained a few new fans out of the celebration, as well. It was a win/win day! On top of all of that, they allowed us to bring our picnic lunch to the patio, and enjoy that in the beautiful scenery as well! We didn’t have to feel rushed to get back to the house to eat our lunch, which was really nice! Thanks again Jacque and Lynn for making the experience so enjoyable and memorable! Can’t wait to come back!

3 girls hanging out on President’s Day weekend with nothing to do but have fun. Well we found it at Pilot Peak Winery. This winery is just delightful and for many reasons. The first and foremost is the family that own and run it. Very down to earth with a great sense of humor and extremely knowledgeable about wine. The wine was excellent(we bought over 2 cases between the three of us), and a lovely surprise is the excellently prepared bites of deliciousness that they served with the red wines. We had so much fun mixing and matching to see what we liked. All this fun while sitting in a gorgeous setting of trees and hills made for a perfect day! Thank you Pilot Peak, I will be seeing you again.

Best wine tasting experience, ever! With our red wine they gave us some delicious pasta, for no charge, to eat with our wine tasting. We also got to try some white wines straight out of the barrel. The wine was great too, they had something that made everyone’s palate happy(from the wine snob to the person who really doesn’t drink wine). Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Myself and my family from out of town loved it and we go back every chance we get!

Wish I could give this place five stars but the woman who does tastings insulted my friends and I. Went there for a release party. They immediately directed us to taste a couple red wines. Tried those. Then went on to taste their other wines, beginning with white wines and was lectured in front of a crowd about how I should have started with white.(I was told to start with red!) Been there a couple times since and she’s always been incredibly awkward, rude and a bit snobbish! She needs to be reminded that this is not Stags Leap District in Napa Valley. It’s Indian Springs Road in Penn Valley. The guy works inside and I believe built the place is great. If it was just him, I’d give it five stars.

Love love love them! Always a great experience and the owners are so friendly and an absolute pleasure to be around. Not to mention the wine is fabulous and for those of you that prefer a few bubbles, they just recently added a champagne that is quite refreshing to say the least. Beautiful property, beautiful people, beautiful views and an even more beautiful experience first hand, you won’t be disappointed! Can’t wait for the live music to start in May!

I just wanted to write a quick review on this winery. My niece introduced me to this place last Mother’s Day on an outing to celebrate, and fell in love. The setting is lovely, the owners just wonderful!(And the wine is absolutely marvelous). When we first arrived, we had a few nibbles of cheese and crackers, and yes, a bit of chocolate to get our taste buds ready for the wonderful sampling in store for us. The membership was explained to us, and to my surprise, no pressure to join. We sampled a couple of white wines, which were wonderful, then went outside to continue our sampling. As we sat outside enjoying the scenery, Nancy hosted us with a wonderful selections of tastings of reds, explaining each to us. I was hooked. Not only on the wines, but on the overall customer service, and interaction with the staff/owners. Not only is the wine wonderful, the setting beautiful and serene, the staff knows customer service!!! Heather, you’re the best! I highly recommend this winery, I just purchased another 4 bottles, all very reasonably priced, and started enjoying one of the Syrahs last night. If you enjoy wine tasting, a beautiful setting, and wonderful owners, then check out Pilot Peak Winery, you won’t be disappointed.

Today’s visit to Pilot Peak was a disappointment. I called them at 11:42am today(they open at 12:00pm) and spoke to a nice gentleman who told me to come on in for their«Turkey Treats» special, which for $ 5 gets you a variety of food samples and wine tasting. This event had advance ticket sales, which is why I called in advance to make sure they had room for two more people. Anyway, when my husband and I showed up, the hostess Nancy(one of the owners) told us we couldn’t have food, only wine. I told her I spoke to a gentleman this morning and he said we could still come in and buy the $ 5 food tickets. She said we could still buy the $ 5 tickets, but we would only be allowed to have one sample of the casserole and one small square of cornbread because they don’t have enough of the other food. Since we came all the way there and were hungry, we decided to go ahead and pay the full $ 10 for the«limited» sample food tickets. Nancy then led us to the lady serving the food and told her to serve us «only» the casserole and cornbread, and not any of the other food. That was awkward, to say the least. After that, we felt uncomfortable so we ate our samples, tasted a few wines and left.

This was a great wine tasting experience. We were heading to GV for the weekend so I searched for wineries in the area. Pilot Peak came up and when I checked their website I read they do a wine tasting with food and it is complimentary! That is different! And the types of wines are what we like and aren’t outrageously priced… sounds like my kind of winery. So me, the hub and another couple headed over on a Saturday afternoon and we were greeted by Len one of the owners who told us about the winery. He answered questions and took us in the back to taste some of the barrel wines. Then they brought out the food and let us help ourselves and walk out to the beautiful setting where they brought us our first four wines to try. It was so relaxing and a unique experience that of course we all bought wine. And their wine club is unique as well. You buy 6 bottles and are automatically a member, NOSHIPMENTS! And if you buy less than 6 bottles then they count as layaway and when you enventually buy 6 within a year you automatically become a member. Love it! We were all impressed and our friends became members(and we got to use their member discount, another perk of the club). Looking forward to going back!

I’ve been wine-tasting up and down the coast in many different cities, and I have to say that this was by far the best experience I’ve ever had. It’s beautiful here, and the tasting experience is built to include the scenery. Jaque(wonderfully sweet woman), told us that wine should be enjoyed with food and friends, and so after tasting the whites inside at the bar, you are led out to the patio and poured four more glasses of their red in cute little mini wine glasses, and served some food to taste with it. Delicious wine, delicious food, very friendly people, beautiful winery, and free tasting! They have concerts on Saturdays during the summer and their wine club seems like the smartest that I’ve ever heard. You don’t need to leave your credit card info with them, just buy 6 bottles of wine within the year and you will get the discount and invitation to their events. So wonderful! I can’t wait to go back!

At the very top of the list, this winery makes great wine! Whenever I get out to the West Coast, this is a sure stop. The surroundings are gorgeous and the owners are warm and welcoming. Great place to enjoy some wine and even better taking some home.

My family and I love going to the Peak any chance we get! We attended our first Sunset at the Peak this past Saturday night with live music from the band Renegade, appetizer plates, and perfect temperatures. We had a total blast! We definitely plan on going back as soon as we can! The people are always super friendly and helpful here, and the wine is pretty good, too! The sangria is something I highly recommend! We’ve been here, also, for the Wine Trail and for a comparative tasting and a couple other tastings before and always have a great time, rain or shine.

Pilot Peak Winery is by far one of the best places to sip wine in the Sierra Foothills! The terraced landscaped setting and abundant oak trees makes for a picturesque experience. Live music, great wines, outstanding hospitality! What more can one ask for? I feel lucky to live in area that offers high quality wines at great prices! Definitely one of my favorite places in Nevada County. And to top it all off, Jacque Wilson(co-owner) is the quintessential hostess! She is always there with a smile on her face!

Hands down, this was the most friendly and service-oriented winery /tasting room I’ve ever visited. It seems two couples own and operate the winery and all four were involved in making the(free) tasting experience as personal and pleasant as possible, from the pours themselves to minor appetizers to abundant information, advice, and conversation. The estate is absolutely beautiful. Apparently they also host periodic evening dances in their gorgeous outdoor setting. The wines themselves are fairly good, although with higher-than-average alcohol content. The tasting experience makes this a not-to-miss destination.

Why a five star? The people who run this winery deserve 5.5 Stars for trying the hardest I have ever seen to deliver customer service and satisfaction. Where have you seen a full kitchen in the tasting room, and received a hug at the door for free wine tasting and food? The wives bake bread, amazing spicy beat balls, and put on a free spread of food and tasting that will knock your socks off. The wines are okay too, the setting is right out of a story book, and at the end of the day it is all about the people running this place. You will love the dogs too. Bring a pic-a-nic lunch and buy a case of wine, settle into the terraces for lunch and dream of being in Tuscany for an afternoon. Bravo team PP Winery, well done.
