When you walk through the market, you will find country décor, clothing & shoes, wine tasting booths, farm fresh produce and homemade pies. Make sure to get there early for good parking, because this place gets busy. It’s like going to the fair without all the rides. Quite honestly, I enjoyed this market more than I would a fair! My boyfriend and I sat down and had a nice meal midway through: A large blooming onion and a cheeseburger with delicious authentic NY salt potatoes! From my observations, there were many families with children enjoying their time at the market as well. It was a sweet sight. We purchased a homemade strawberry & rhubarb pie made by the Amish that was out of this world. If I lived closer to this market, I would be making a weekly trip to stock up on fresh Amish produce, cheeses, maple syrup, baked goods, jams and local honey.

Let me start by saying I go almost every Saturday from June thought August so I have a lot of experience at the windmill. You can buy local produce, cheese, flowers, baked goods, wines, maple syrup, all kinds of canned goods like jams, jelly’s, honey ect. They also have all your carnival food like fried dough, kettle corn, cotton candy ect. They even have an Annie’s Pretzels so that ought to tell you this place is legit! A few of my favorites First of the Amish place(forget the name) for breakfast has amazing food. I get a #1 for 6.50 you get 2 eggs, choice of meat(4 – 5 slices of bacon!) home fries, toast(their cinnamon raison is amazing), and a coffee. The portions are huge! That Coffee Place is on the porch of building outside and they have all kinds of great coffee, latte’s and fraps. They have so many flavors and the coffee is great! Produce is amazing here I will say sometimes you can get deals and other stuff is just as expensive as in the store so just check the prices at different vendors to get good deals. Everything I have bought has been fresh and tasted great. My family buys peaches, pickles ect to can here. The chicken bbq(NY style) butterflied potatoes, blooming onion, and taco salad is really good. Tip It opens at 8am I normally get there by 9:30 –9:50 and I am ok but by 11:30ish it starts to get really crowded last Saturday they had 3 tour buses pull about that time!

This was a really great weekend trip, we came here with our motorhome, and there is lots of parking in the back lot. Rosie and I were here a few years ago, but it’s better now! I thought that most of the(permanent) booths contained fantastic crafts and artistic items. There was a few food vendors, and some farmers market displays, although we shall come back in the fall when all of the local crops come in.

The Windmill is a great place to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday. This is the one spot where you can pick up wonderful local produce, cheese, flowers, baked goods, wines, maple syrup, honey plus local arts and crafts. There are also other items available that don’t interest me — but that’s the beauty of a place like this — there’s a wide variety to please almost everyone. I love the fact that many of the vendors really showcase New York products. I purchased oak baskets made in western NY — beautiful. Also some yummy sour cherry preserves. Lots of other products are made in the USA — also very good! A good tip — get here as early as you can(opens at 8 am) — it’s open only on Saturday and the traffic in and out of the parking lots can get congested by 10 or 11 am. Also it’s open from mid-April to mid-December, so I hope to be back to do some holiday shopping. One last thought — I don’t want to respond in detail to the previous negative review — I think it speaks for itself. But there is a wide variety of food offered. One thing I have to say that I would not order in farm/Mennonite/Amish country is a burrito. I think you’re bound to be a bit disappointed! Go for the chicken bbq(NY style — amazing!), butterflied potatoes, and other snacks. Relax, bring your dog, take a break under the trees, enjoy the day!

A great farmer’s market located just outside Penn Yan. I hadn’t visited in over 10 years, and the place sure has grown! Plenty of parking available, although this place can get full! There are a number if great shops and eateries available, both inside and out. There are a few huge buildings that house multiple shops, as well as smaller tents set up for the day. You can find numerous things to eat, from sandwiches and gluten free cookies, to ice cream, kettle corn, and slushies. The majority of items sold are handmade arts and crafts, however there are sports memorabilia stores, tin signs, pet supplies, and locally made fruits, jams, jellies, dressings and more. A few places take cards, but cash is smart, they do have an atm with a $ 2.50 surcharge. Overall, a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Be sure to check the hours, it’s only open certain days and hours. Stop in, you’ll have a good time and find something nice for your house!

If you like shopping with fatties and waiting an hour for a thirteen year old to make you a flavorless burrito, then this is your place!

This is a terrific market located just outside of Penn Yann in the Finger Lakes region. The market features art, crafts, jewelry, furniture, clothes, wine, baked goods, jams, produce and tons more. There’s also a variety of places to eat. My favorite food was the homemade chips with bacon, cheese, and ranch. This was incredibly good. The market spans multiple large buidlings and small village-like shops. There are also activities for kids including a train ride. Another neat aspect of this market is that there’s a variety of goods sold directly by the Amish. The market is generally open from Memorial Day to Labor Day on Saturdays and features plenty of parking. A nice stop when touring wine country.

What a great stop on your way out of town(Saturdays only)– a good place to pick up some great quality Amish-grown veggies(the arugula was outstanding!). There are different outlets to buy crafts from some beautiful country wood furniture to curios of trinkets.

I’m very surprised to see only a few reviews for The Windmill on Unilocal.More than 200 local shops full of fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, Amish furniture, hand made crafts, decorations and a whole lot more! Only open on Saturdays(and it’s seasonal) but they are open for a good part of the year and we always come grab snacks to eat, look around and buy a pie and some produce. Must come check this out!

Are you looking for the most extensive selection of Amish goods in the Southern Tier displayed in an outdoor«farmers market» type atmosphere? I have a feeling it’s called the Windmill, where everyone walks incredibly slow. Honestly I can’t believe it’s never been reviewed. You can find anything you want here… tons of fresh produce, from homegrown tomatoes to potatoes to doughnuts, peanut brittle, honey, maple syrup, wild flowers, wind chimes, wind mills(!), mailboxes, jewelry, quilts, you name it AND you’ll feel good about yourself for supporting the local community. Nestled between Seneca and the good(East) side of Keuka, only open weekend mornings. Usually cash only, usually good weather only, and usually only in the summer.
