Ordered a mass amount of food from here Sunday night for the game and it wasn’t so bad! We got a huge order of the wings which were fairly crispy with flavor but the cheese fries not so good. Could definitely be crispier and the cheese seemed stale. We got a pie of the buffalo chicken and the old fashioned brooklyn. The brooklyn pie was great! I loved the flavors and the thinness of the crust. My only advice would be to have the to go orders ready for the customer. I stayed home and all toasty while all the men went to go pick up the food and even though they got there to pick it up 30 minutes after I called they still waited an additional 20 minutes. Don’t say it’ll be ready in 30 when you know it won’t. Especially on an unsafe day with all the snow, don’t make people drive when they don’t need to yet.

So let me start by saying that I stopped in last night about 10 minutes before they closed. I was starving and just wanted to grab two slices of pizza to go. I have only been here one other time but didn’t have the pizza. While waiting for the pizza to be heated, I was a little surprised when this miserable guy at the register yelled at one of the guys working there in front of customers… Something like«why would you let him leave if you weren’t done cleaning up!?» Maybe my expectations are too high. Then he eventually mumbles to me the total $ 4.82… Unsure of what he said I repeated it to him«I’m sorry, did you say $ 4.82?» He says«please». I hand him a $ 5 bill and he gives me back a nickel and a dime… $ 0.15!and for a moment I thought I was confused when I realized he just gypped out of 3 cents. But considering I repeated it back to him, how can I be confused? Listen I’m far from cheap but I work hard for my money, so if you tell me the price is $ 4.82 I expect $ 0.18 back. Who is this miserable man to decide that I don’t want my 3 cents?!? Maybe he can’t do simple math… Just sayin. So I decided not to make a big deal out of it(only because I was starving). The whole time I’m thinking«this pizza better be amazing.» So I continued to wait and watched a woman go over and put her filthy hands all over the paper plates … Umm gross. Mind you I was starving and was debating whether or not to tell the guy I no longer wanted the pizza considering he just put my pizza on the top paper plate which some random lady just touched. But because I was starving and they were closing I went on my way with my pizza still thinking«this pizza better be f’ing amazing…» So I finally got to bite into my warm thin pizza and ugh it was the worst pizza I have ever tasted!!! It was too thin and the sauce was way too sweet. What a waste! I want my $ 4.85 back! I can guarantee that I will never spend another penny here. And while I may be bitter over my 3 cents, this review might end up costing them more. Happy new year

We love this restaurant! We have eaten there about thirty times and have never had a bad meal! The food is fresh and delicious. Our favorites are the fried artichokes, gnocchi with fresh mozzarella, spinach and vodka sauce, and the veal with shrimp and asparagus. The staff is very friendly and skilled at their jobs. We can’t wait to go back!

First and foremost I have to give them 5 stars for their flexibility. I was so far off our schedule, got held up at a previous event and three of our guests did not get the notice. The manager — owner was very gracious holding our reservation 40 minutes late, a Saturday evening no less and still sat our early arrivals. Piccolo’s was the perfect place for casual BYOB Italian fair; with three ample seating areas, one outdoor patio and two indoor; a pizzeria and the family dinning area. Pricing was equal if not better to other local establishments but I think they win out with location, atmosphere and food selection. Service was welcoming and attentive but at times I felt pressured or rushed, however they were busy and we were«really» late… so that is on us. As for food, everyone enjoyed their dishes with the exception of one side plate of angle hair(or slightly thicker) was over cooked. I was also disappointed they didn’t offer a Caesar salad. Those aside we couldn’t be more pleased with taste and portions. Piccolo’s Trattoria, hands down a winner, we will be back!

Went to the restaurant side and the very large menu item listing was a red flag that this would be a mediocre dining experience. The fact that their pizzaria is on one side of the wall and their restaurant is on the other is another red flag. There is no classically trained chef on the restaurant side. Overall the service was fine and the food mediocre — exactly what I expected. Go there with mediocre expectations and you’ll be just fine. Had the shrimp parm and ordered flounder Francese but got tilapia Francese instead. Shrimp parm was much better than the Francese. Candles would be a nice touch vs the LED lights attached to the umbrella poles in the outside dining area. The live outdoor mellow music was also a nice touch.

Service isn’t great, the guy who serves pizza always seems like he’s having a bad day. Good variety of pizza, but on multiple occasions I’ve been served severely undercooked slices that I can’t even eat because the dough is almost raw. Take the extra few minutes and go to Vito’s, they have great variety and actually cook their food.

I come to the area on business and I have never been disappointed by anything I’ve gotten here. Great, fresh Italian food, my favorite is their calzone, which is so good. The service is always good and it feels like a very family run establishment that cares about your business, I’ll definitely be back, again and again.

Not my best experience. I called for takeout, a larger order(5 pies) and was quoted a wait time of 20 – 25 minutes. I waited it out and got to the place about 35 minutes after I called expecting the pizzas would be there waiting for me… they weren’t I was told 5 more minutes(which would be usually be no big deal had I got there on time but now I’m looking at an extra 20 minutes on my quoted time)…I waited probably another 5 – 10 minutes, during my wait I saw them take 4 pizzas out of the oven(none were mine), I inquired on my order again and was quoted another 5 minutes. By the time the pizzas were ready, it was like 45 – 50 minute wait which would’ve been understandable if you quoted me 45 minutes. In addition to the wait, the pizza was pricey. Needless to sayI would recommend trying the other pizza places in the area.

This place is better than the Newtown, PA location in my opinion because of the service. I was here recently for a business dinner and sampled the variety of items that were on the buffet that I haven’t had before at Piccolo’s. The lobster ravioli and salads were creative and delicious. The desserts were just as good!

Update: came here again and some of the people who work there really need to learn some customer service skills and manners in general. I thought the guy was just having a rough day when I came before and gave him the benefit of the doubt… but why are you working in the front if you’re acting like you hate humanity? it really ruins the atmosphere when the person taking your order is barking«next!» at every person in line. its just plain uncomfortable for everyone and there is really no need to be rude to paying customers. Yum! this review is for the pizza only. I had the Sicilian buffalo chicken and penne vodka slices. Loved both of them! Sicilian buffalo chicken slice was huge. the dough itself was like a loaf of bread — super thick and crispy just the way I love it! buffalo sauce was not spicy at all though, just creamy and cheesy. penne vodka pizza was pretty tasty as well. wish I had pictures but I gobbled the slices up too fast hehe

I advise a local sorority chapter at TCNJ and whenever I attend an event down there(1.5 hours away), my students and I meet here for lunch/dinner. Normally I only get their pizza, which is great(typical pizza), but this time I branched out and had an entrée. I had the shrimp pesto over pasta and it was delectable. I loved it even more because it was so large that I only eat half and took the rest home for lunch tomorrow(yay for doggie bags)!

I like their gourmet pizzas, but I think it’s just a lot of bells and whistles. That being said, the penne vodka pizza and buffalo chicken are my two favorites and they are absolutely delicious. But if you’re looking for a good slice of regular ol pizza, I’d probably go to Palermo’s.

FYI, I am doing a review on the pizzeria side of the establishment, I personally never had the opportunity to try the complete restaurant experience. I have a close friend that attends TCNJ, and she had always raved to me about eating at this pizzeria. Being an avid pizza fan, I decided to give the place a try. This place is perfect for a big group. There’s a lot of seating available and the only wait you have is for them to heat the slice. It’s your nice, typical pizzeria atmosphere. I tried out the Chicken, Bacon, and Ranch slice, and a Chicken & Spinach slice. These were both excellent slices. The first one had just the even amount of chicken, bacon, and ranch, and it was very balanced with a little«healthier» chicken & spinach slice. I don’t know what’s about it, but, the pizza has me always coming back here when I am in the Princeton area. Every chance I get, I will always go back to this establishment when I am in the area, even if I’m by myself.

Buffalo chicken pizza, sausage pizza, pepperoni, plain… all delicious. Good sauce, good ratios, solid overall pizza. A little slow service but friendly nonetheless

I would rate the actual restaurant with 1 star, but the pizza/takeout side with 4 stars. First the take-out: We have ordered from here a bunch of times. The paninis are delicious(get the honey mustard chicken!) and the pizza is pretty tasty as well. Those are definitely their strong points. The restaurant: We’ve only been here once, and needless to say, will not be returning. We had french onion soup as an appetizer — pretty bland. I had the chicken fettuccine alfredo and my husband had chicken parmigiana for entrees. They both were complete tasteless with absolutely no flavor. I actually think the the Olive Garden would probably serve tastier«italian food» than this place! The chicken in my fettuccine alfredo was so weird — it tasted like absolutely nothing. We did have dessert and that was delicious. If you are looking for a good italian place, head down the road to Metro Grill in Ewing.

Decided on Piccolo Trattoria on a Friday night with my husband and daughter. We had been once before for a party and remember it being good. We were a bit disappointed with our meal on this occasion. I chose the sausage and broccoli rabe and it was just average. My husband ordered whole wheat penne pasta with sausage and meatballs in a fra diablo sauce and it was so spicy he couldn’t taste anything else. My daughter enjoyed her house salad with grilled chicken. The staff was pleasant and attentive and the atmosphere is pleasant. If we go back it will be for their pizza which we’ve had and enjoyed in the past.

Delightful variety on the menu, creative dishes and specials, willing to go off-menu for special requests, very customer-centered service… I could go on. It’s too bad that we have to drive an hour or so to go there, but it is worth an occasional trip. I have to deduct a star because it’s a BYOB.

Meh. The food was alright. I wasn’t blown away with any of the dishes that I had there. I recognize that this is a pretty short review, but probably because it wasn’t a very memorable visit.

I was disappointed with my lunch at Piccolo Trattoria. I ordered an eggplant parmigiana sandwich and I didn’t love the way it tasted. The sauce was too sweet for my liking, the eggplant was soft and mushy and the cheese was just barely hanging onto it. When it was served to me, the sandwich did not look very appetizing from the above description. I decided to give it a shot anyway because I had hoped where it failed in presentation it would succeed in flavor. Unfortunately it didn’t. It wasn’t inedible, I just really feel that they could have done better. The free Wi-Fi was quite nice.
