DELICIOUS. We want about 4pm on a Saturday and there was a 35 – 45 min late. We waited at the bar and ordered drinks which were delicious. We were seated in the heated patio which was so crowded that the back of my chair was right up against the back of the man behind me. Main reason for not giving 5 stars. It was uncomfortable and I was ready to leave. The food was excellent. Our server was awesome and the food came out fast and fresh. I recommend the oyster sampler platter. They are outstanding. We had the grouper sandwich and the fried shrimp basket. Both perfect. Definitely recommend. Just be prepared for a long wait and to be crammed in like sardines lol

Peg Leg Pete’s has it all. Good food, great service, and an awesome ambiance. The homemade seafood gumbo is EXCELLENT, as well as the Cajun Burger. We also tried the Flounder Sandwich, which wasn’t bad but wasn’t as good as the other food. They also have excellent strong mixed drinks. Would go again.

Absolutely the best fried oysters in the panhandle! Great service, too. I live in Hawaii and gone to Pensacola a few times a year. Peg Leg Petes is on my list of must do’s every time. I would go back a few times a week if I lived here!

My parents have been gushing about Peg Leg Pete’s since they started Wintering here in Pensacola. They brought me here on 69 cent Raw Oyster Day with a group of Aunts and Cousins. I, of course, order a dozen oysters. My Aunt M orders the sampler of baked oysters. We decided to share from each others plates. The raw oysters were served with the usual sauces and lemon. They were so fresh and plumb. I can see why this spot fills up so fast. I wanted more but I didn’t want to just eat the raw oysters, I wanted to try everything. The variety of baked oysters were tasty with my favorite being the Imperial. The price seemed right for the flavors and delicious-ness. My Dad got the Shrimp platter. He gave us a sample. Those shrimp were the best I’ve had anywhere in the Pensacola and Beach areas so far on my trip. So so good. My mom got the sandwich of the day. It was a tuna with sweet chili sauce in a wrap. She thought it was a fantastic choice. I didn’t get a bite because I was way too into my oyster experience. The place has the right beachy dive look that you expect. The outside dining area was well covered and warm due to the chilly wind that day. Our server was attentive and everyone was very satisfied. I’m not sure I will get back there before my trip has to end but I know I would like too.

I give this two stars only because our server was sweet. I was surprised by the poor quality of the food. I have never had such dry crab legs in my life. I ordered the crab leg dinner and the crab was bone dry, flavorless(should have been sweet) and there was not one whole cluster in the bunch, only bits and pieces. I also ordered the calamari appetizer, which was overcooked and tough. Yuk! Additionally, the place was dirty. The table sticky, food on the ground and overall unkempt feel. Don’t come here!

Great food! I had a lunch special, caramari pasta and it was so delicious. My husband got a bowl of seafood soup and he was very happy with it too. I will go back there again.

What a gold mine… this is the best restaurant we have found in all my trips to Pensacola Beach. I wish there were other good ones but there really aren’t. We end up going here repeatedly whenever we are in PB. The same people own Sidelines– a sports bar down around the Hampton Inn, and it has some good food items also. This is a fun family spot with a large sandy outdoor waiting area for the kids to play, and a bar with live music as well. The food is good(not great) but very solid. They know how to actually season. I’ve had many of the fried foods, the crab legs, gumbo. Can’t remember what else but it is a fun place and you will have a decent satisfying meal. Be prepared to spend quite a bit because seafood ain’t cheap, and they know they have a captive audience. The bar will give you that fun beach-night vibe with what seem like many regulars also in the crowd. If I sold everything and became a beach bum in Pensacola Beach I would probably be hanging out drinking myself away while the salty beach breezes blew over me at Peg Leg Pete’s.

We discovered this restaurant from a simple Google search for food in the area. We arrived and was immediately seated. For a starter we wanted to try the crab legs but was told they were out so we went for the snow crabs and a cup of gumbo. The gumbo was definitely a different taste than our southern flavors but still good. The place was very packed from the inside out. I also ordered a banana daiquiri which was also really good! Our server Lindsey was awesome! It was a good experience, reasonable prices and I will definitely consider returning if in the area again to try other items on the menu.

I am originally from Texas, we are currently visiting Pensacola on a vacation. With that being I don’t come across seafood that often. But I can still tell when seafood is fresh. And this, my friends, was fresh seafood. We had a very large party so I was able to try a lot of things. For appetizers we had grouper nuggets, calamari, and blue crab claw. The grouper nuggets were my favorite, lightly fried, but could almost fall apart when you pick it up. The blue crab claws were too little meat for my taste, but then again it is an appetizer. For the entrée I personally ordered the stuffed grouper, it was honestly not that great. The grouper was a little too chewy, after eating the nuggets I expected the fish to be softer. It was also a lot drier than I expected, and the grouper also wasn’t stuffed, it was just a ball of stuffing on top of the fish. My brother ordered the grouper and shrimp basket, that was good. The fried grouper in the basket was different from the grouper nuggets but still just as delicious. I also was able to try the Cajun grouper and felt as if that one was better than mine, maybe it was just my fish, oh well. The appetizers and other peoples meals made the experience better.

This is a Pensacola tradition for me at least. We always try to at least go here when I visit. I think that it is good, but also just fun. The fun part of the restaurant and the seating might be better than the actual food. For our starter: Oyster Sampler For those of you who can’t decide. A sampling of our favorite baked specialties — Buffalo Blue, Cajun, Parmesan, Rockefeller, Spicy Lafitte, and Imperial. I tried the Parmesan and the Spicy Lafitte. I would say eh on both of my choices. Good but eh. I wouldn’t order an entire platter of each of those flavors from my little sampling. It was ok. Other of the flavors might be better but those ones, never again. Lunch: Mixed Grill Large shrimp paired with fresh Gulf grouper and large sea scallops. Basted and char-grilled. Served with rice pilaf, sugar snap peas, garlic toast, and sides of dill sauce and garlic butter. I really wanted something that I got to taste a lot of different things but not a fried platter. The fried platter did look good but I just wanted something that was maybe a step up from fried food. I also really wanted to try the scallops. The platter was really good. The grilled shrimp were very plump and had a lot of flavor. The scallops were ok, they tasted just a little too buttery for my taste. The grouper is not my favorite fish. Which I found out after I had it on this plate. But at least I know! It was a good dish, but not outstanding. Gumbo A variety of Gulf Coast seafood & vegetables seasoned with gumbo filé, herbs, and spices. Served over rice with garlic toast. I also ordered a cup of gumbo because I just really wanted to try a real southern gumbo. It was ok. I mean, it tasted different from when I made it but not different in a shooting star amazingly better way. It was ok. My aunt let me try her: Red Beans and Rice Cooked with country smoked sausage and server over hot fluffy rice with garlic toast. A real Southern treat served often in many local homes. Did not like it at all. Dessert: Key Lime Pie-YUM-O. I really enjoyed this pie. Probably the best thing I ate all day! I really enjoyed it for sure. It was tangy lime not just subtle. Loved it! I will of course go again but I do not know how long this tradition will last. There are other places out there that are just as good.

As many times that I have visited PB, I have never visited here until earlier this week for lunch. I am glad I did. This restaurant is about 1 mile west of the beach ball water tower. It has a lot of character and looks like a fun place to hang out and have a drink and eat. The restaurant is located on Lafitte’s Cove on the backside of the island where residents of the homes nearby park their boats. The restaurant has a rustic nautical theme to it that adds to the beachcomber ambience. I ordered a fried grouper sandwich with fries. It was a good meal and I would order it again. Filling and tasty the grouper was well prepared and the bun was fresh. I gave this meal a 3.5 however round up to a 4 for Unilocal purposes due to the atmosphere of this fun restaurant. I will be happy to come back. The menu looked like it offers a wide array of items including a lot of good seafood. I think parking can be tight when they are busy.

Favorite place in Pensacola Beach for oysters! I can’t pick one, they are all fantastic! Also, try the stuffed shrimp! Jumbo shrimp stuffed to the brim with crab meat. I’m eating for two and couldn’t finish it! And Karina’s chocolate shake for dessert– maybe I’m partial because that’s my sister’s name, but it was delicious! Prepare to wait, but it’s worth it! Will definitely go back.

I have nothing but praises for this place. We had just about the most perfect meal. We arrived about 5:30 and were seated right away. Within minutes our waitress was at our table taking our drink orders. Shortly thereafter we ordered our dinner. She was a top notch server. Food service was perfect. It wasn’t too slow and it wasn’t too fast. Four of us were ordering and we ordered four different dishes. One plate was the most amazing sea scallops with rice pilaf and snap green peas. Another plate was the shrimp platter and yet another the shrimp and oyster. The fried shrimp was all deveined. Of course, there’s always one in the crowd that ends up with beef at a seafood restaurant and we had that too in the way of a French dip sandwich. We all agreed the food was amazing. Besides that there was a lot of it. We were stuffed but yet we couldn’t pass on sampling a piece of key lime pie. Again, nothing but delicious. The restaurant manager made his rounds and we chatted with him a bit. He indicated freshness and perfection is the aim. We thought he hit that right on. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. If you have a long wait, you can wait in the bar downstairs. There’s a special bar menu and also a playground for kids. This place definitely deserves 5 stars.

Arrived at 7 pm on Saturday Oct. 3rd and was told the wait would be 60 – 75 minutes for our party of 8. The hostess said we could be seated sooner downstairs by the playground but she wouldn’t say how much sooner. When pressed for a time she finally said she couldn’t quote wait times for downstairs seating. So we walked downstairs and we’re seated immediately! The menu is slightly limited downstairs but offered all our favorites, including crab legs, so it was great for us. We almost left because the hostess upstairs just wouldn’t give us enough information. This is the only reason we didn’t give 5 stars. If you like bread pudding order it here! Food was excellent and so was the service. Crab legs were lightly seasoned and not over cooked. Fried oysters were good sized without too much breading. There was live music which was a little loud but we had kids with us and were seated right by the playground so it was fine.

Get there early or go during the week on monday, tuesday or wednesday, because there’s a line in front of this place as soon as they open up the rest of the week and on weekends, and for a good reason. I’ve put off trying this place out for YEARS because of the enormous wait they always seem to have judging from the line out the door. But if you get there before they open and have lunch, it’s not so bad. The décor is highly nautical and of piratical nature. The only thing I didn’t like about inside the restaurant is that is quite cramped in there. If there is a server anywhere near your table, you’ll have to wait until someone moves in order to get by. But… whatever. The food was good. Yes, the food is good! There’s mostly seafood on the menu and when I went, I got the stuffed shrimp platter. I’m not normally a fan of crab stuffing or anything like that, but it sounded good on the menu and I got it. I got it with their crawfish sauce of some sort, which was very much not unlike étouffée. Worth every penny. It was very delicious. I was only PARTLY hungover, but it was all still very good. I also went there during happy hour one day and sat right at the bar; no wait. They had ice cold Sam Adams and the bartender was extremely nice and polite. Even after I told her I had literally just eaten and only stopped in for one drink, she was not annoyed, nor did she seem like she’d prefer me to leave if I wasn’t going to be there long. Sometimes, bartenders can get like that because you’re taking up a seat. Instead, she was nice and I asked her the best times to come eat and she told me. You know how after you’ve been going to a vacation spot for so long, there are those places you KNOW are good to eat at, and so you wait in line and skip the places you’ve never been because you don’t want to wait in a loooong line only to discover you don’t like it? Peg Leg Pete’s is worth that wait and it will become one of those places for you. If you don’t believe me, do like I said earlier and check it out early one day before they get crazy or on an off-day.

THISPLACE… Let me start by saying my wife and I are NOT seafood people. I can occasionally do some salmon, but that’s about my limit. We tried this by many folks from the area’s recommendations. It did NOT disappoint. We took a leap of faith and had the server recommend us some things. EVERYTHING we tried was DELICIOUS. There is something to be said for FRESH seafood. Sidenote: if you are going to moan and complain about the long wait, go elsewhere. We went twice on our vacation, and had to wait both times. The first time, over an hour to be seated. It is busy, yes. There is a reason for the long wait times… IT’S GREATFOOD! If you want fast food: go somewhere else! You MUST get these when you go: GROUPERNUGGETS appetizer — Simply amazing! Seafood gumbo! — Excellent, with 3 – 4 different kinds of seafood mixed in. Awesome flavor! Shipwreck drink! We loved it, and will most certainly be back when next we’re in the area!
