A bit difficult to find on the NAS but well worth the effort. Once on site, you are treated to some quaint seaboard exhibits. Proceed to the lighthouse and climb 177 difficult spiraling steps to the top and a great view of old forts, the Gulf and surrounding Naval sights

I absolutely loved visiting this lighthouse. Once you make it up the 177 spiral stairs to the top, the views are gorgeous! The museum and ghost stories were very interesting. I definitely want to go back on a more sunny day to take pictures.

Fun thing to do if you wanna kill some time, it’s a nice day, are willing to walk up and down 177 steps, and aren’t afraid of heights. They say it’s haunted and they also offer night tours. Check the website for dates and times. I didn’t experience anything extraterrestrial but I can see how it would be spooky to go into at night. Beautiful view once at the top. About 25 steps up there’s a room with a tv playing the haunted history channel with some chairs for those to hang out if they don’t want to walk up. Or there is plenty of seating outside and the little house on the bottom is a museum. I’m not much for walking around and looking at old belongings inside of a glass cabinet but to each their own! Short walk down to the beach if you wanna do that too. $ 6 per adult and $ 4 per seniors(65+). Oh and the naval museum is across the street if you really want to just get your museum rocks off and make it an all day thing.

We made a quick stop at the lighthouse. It was beautiful and in such an awesome setting. We didn’t have a lot of time to spend so just walked around the grounds but are looking forward to returning in a few weeks. Steps from the lighthouse lead down a stairway to the beach. Very nice!

This was my 2nd time visiting the lighthouse. The first was about 3 years ago on a ghost hunt. They have re done a lot of the house and it has more of a museum feel to it now with interesting displays and informational videos and a cute gift shop. We didn’t get to climb the lighthouse itself 3 years ago for the ghost hunt, but did this time. 177 of steep old stairs. Don’t look down while you are climbing! Once to the top you are rewarded with a gorgeous view! Totally worth it! Don’t wear flip flops as it is a safety hazard. I loved the additions made to the museum and recommend this for any age group when visiting Pensacola!

We come here every summer and they have blocked most of the museum off and the very top of the lighthouse. It isn’t as good as it used to be, but it is still a must see. It is absolutely beautiful. The people who work in the museum and the lighthouse are very knowledgeable and so much fun to talk to about the historical aspects of the lighthouse. Also, make sure you wear tennis shoes or be prepared to go barefoot to the top. They do not allow flip flops.

177 steps. That’s how much you have to climb to get to the top. The staircase is narrow, and a bit dangerous when having to share with other people(no guard rails on the side that you need it the most), but there are a few stops along the way. But once you get up to the top, you see everything. I’ve never seen the Naval Air Museum and Ft. Pickens all in one view, and it’s a very impressive sight. Definitely worth climbing for the photo opportunities alone. When you come down, however, you can buy an «I survived the 177 steps» certificate in the gift shop for a dollar. The house and grounds are really nice as well, and it gives you an appreciation of a lighthouse keeper’s life. Climbing those stairs every two hours with two 30 – 40 pound jugs of kerosene just makes me cringe internally when thinking about it, so while not for me on a day to day basis, those were some hardy, hardworking people. The climb may not be for everyone, but the reward at the top is certainly worth it. I’ve heard that they even do ghost tours, which perhaps someday in the future. Worth a look if you’ve never been.

We went on the ghost hunt so can not comment on the daytime attraction as much. This is one of the most haunted lighthouses in the world and I was really looking forward to this having never been. It’s far more touristy than a hunt. There was close to 40 people on the tour so there’s over a dozen crammed in each investigation site. It felt touristy, which is what I feared going into it. If you want to check this lighthouse off your list, by all means go on the ghost tour. As for the lighthouse itself, it’s probably worth going to if you’re already on base. It’s a grueling 170some steps to the top but offers a great view.
