This is in regard to a comment left on another review thing is I have no idea how to comment on other comments but for you ever said to me that we were the problem I’m sorry my eye about got gouged out by a fat chicks nail and some burly dude shoved me out and neither had anything to do with said interaction. We were not a problem up until said woman stepped in where she had no right to and then to get told we’re done… I’m sorry but I was sober… don’t tell me I’m done when I literally had three drinks in four hours. And he could have had more. you are a radical Christian Mr. John T. of the Roundup by saying that y’all are a judgment free place then you call my partner not only an adolescent of which he is not but also a douchebag. You are such a pea brained little brat for saying what you said. Judgement free means you do not put down others. Some gay community you live in… sorry hunny but where I come from judgement free in my house is southern hospitality of which you have none. Now please back off of us as we have left you be and go cry to Kim Davis in Kentucky

My friend and I were visiting Destin from indianapolis and decided to venture to Pensacola to visit a few gay bars. We are used to the busy gay nightlife and Pensacola doesn’t seem to have much of one. Roundup seemed like a cool place inside if it were busy(it was a Thursday). Parking lot is dark and gives the outside a sketchy and unsafe vibe. Few older gents inside playing pool. Would have been awesome if the bartender would greet guests like most bars. But he/they ignored us. So we left.

The Roundup is a classic«judgement-free» neighborhood bar where everyone is welcome. It’s been that way for decades, a primarily LGBT bar where one can go to be around friendly people, enjoy a beer, shoot pool, dance or just sit at the bar and enjoy conversation. The gay bar scene in Pensacola has always – or at least as far back as the ‘90s – revolved mainly around two bars. One is the dance club catering to LGBT20-somethings(currently the club Emerald City), and the other is the Roundup which caters to people who are looking for a fun place to just be together and be themselves. It’s fun to go to both, but the Roundup has always been the bar where you can go when you’re tired of the club scene and just want to relax with good people. All ages are represented at the Roundup, but it does have the deserved reputation of drawing an older crowd. Unfortunately, in the gay community that can lead some to dismiss the Roundup as the place for those no longer as desirable as the 20-somethings who flock to the dance club. I notice another reviewer referred to the Roundup as «the wrinkle room». Such ageism, so deeply rooted in the gay/lesbian community, is a whole other conversation, however. It was thus when I was a gay Pensacola 20-something, and it’s no different today. Ignore it – or, better, oppose it – , and enjoy the Roundup for what it is: the neighborhood bar where you can be yourself. It doesn’t matter if one is 21 or 81; in my experience the Roundup is always welcoming.
