Tu do, or not tu do… that is the question… Well, if you’re a fan of Vietnamese food, I got the answer for you! Just tu do it! Corny joke I know. The outside looks like a beat up laundry mat, and the inside isn’t much better. Our waiter didn’t speak much English. But that’s usually a sign that good food is about to enter your mouth hole! We order the spring rolls(everywhere else they are called summer rolls) and fried spring rolls. The fried spring rolls were absolutely amazing! The summer rolls didn’t seem as fresh; the clear wrap wasn’t soft and easy to tear and they were missing mint and cilantro. The peanut sauce should have been warm, also. For meals we ordered the phở(with everything in it) and the fried noodles with chicken chow mein on top. I’m not even going to attempt to spell their actual names. The phở was phở– king awesome! The vegetables were so fresh it looked like they picked them out of a garden and brought them out to me! I almost broke my tooth on a rogue piece of bone in my soup, so be careful when chomping down. The wife’s meal was very good as well. The noodles were fried crispy but became nice and soft underneath the chicken chow mein on top. Very good flavor and good sized portion! Overall a good introduction to Florida Vietnamese food! Give it a try!

We have been going to Tu Do for over 20 years. The restaurant has had it’s ups and downs, but it is by far the best Vietnamese food in the area. They are most famous for their Phở, a noodle soup dish with a wonderful broth and served with fresh sprouts, basil, lime, and jalapeños. Do not expect great service there — the food more than makes up for it.

I’ve had great experiences here in the past. However, the last two times I’ve ordered phở with only sliced beef. It had tripe and instestines in it. I’m sure some people like it, but I don’t and it’s not what j ordered. After saying my order was incorrect they told me it’s exactly what I ordered. Then later came back, only to probably pick the tendons out of my bowl of phở and gave it back to me. I’ll clearly just stick to Golden Palace.

Really don’t understand how this place has more reviews then Golden Palace, must be giving free food away. Anyway this place is not authentic at all. You can tell by the Vietnamese coffee they serve and the water down Phở. This place is horrible.

Went during a quite night. Place is large with ample parking. The service was attentive and the restaurant looked old, but clean. Their grilled pork seemed influenced by the red Chinese chashu pork. Not a bad thing. I’ll bet the chef had some training in Chinese cuisine. Every dish was delicious and the prices aren’t bad either. Go try it!

Didn’t expect a decent Vietnamese restaurant in PNS but Tu-Do is above and beyond after a week of seafood. Capacity is 150 so really surprised when next two parties were sat on tables adjacent to ours. Hate having to overhear other conversations when restaurants are not crowded. This is not a racist comment as I am Asian also, but I enjoy having some personal space when dining out. The exterior looks like it might have been a bank or something because it actually has a drive through pick-up window! WOW! A drive-through pick-up window for Vietnamese food. Great idea! $ 20 for phở and BBQ Pork bun. BBQ Pork more like Chinese Char Siu but very good.

If you like your phở, this is the spot for you. Good pricing and I have never heard a complaint about Tu-Do even from a friend who normally doesn’t like Vietnamese food. It is located right next to another Vietnamese restaurant and although both are good, I think this one is just a bit better than Phở Golden Palace. Don’t pass up on the boba tea or trying just about anything you’ve never had off of the menu. Also, remember you can always ask for a larger portion of phở!

We ordered fried spring rolls, rice noodles soup with meatballs, vermicelli noodles with pork and fried spring rolls. The service was quick and food was fresh, hot and tasty! We’ll come here again next time we’re in Pcola!

Brought the wife in for dinner this evening. We were seated immediately. Started dinner with fried egg rolls and fresh spring rolls. Both were very fresh and tasty. I ordered grilled pork over fried rice for my wife. She enjoyed it very much. I tried her fried rice and found it to have a nice flavor. For my entrée, I ordered Vermicelli combo. I believe it was #118 on the menu. It consisted of Vermicelli topped with grilled pork and chicken with a fried egg roll and shrimp. I also ordered some extra pork. Everything was delicious. The only disappointment was the Boba tea we ordered. We ordered 2 coffee flavored boba teas and that was the only thing that they really didn’t do well. I would steer clear of the boba tea. Save yourself the $ 4.99 and get a Vietnamese iced coffee instead or any other beverage. The restaurant deserves 5 stars. One little oops shouldn’t knock it down. I would come back anytime.

Very authentic Vietnanese. Prices are reasonable. Their portions are generous. There is a drive in pickup window which is nice & convenient. The dining room is a standard Chinese restaurant dining area. Very simple but perfectly fine. I didn’t look extensively around but the restaurant overall seemed pretty clean. It’s always EXTREMELY disappointing when the staff is talking their native language in your immediate presence. It is VERY impolite & unprofessional. ESPECIALLY, TALKINGOVER&AROUNDYOU the ENTIRETIME you are dining. Like you aren’t even there. I realize this is a Cultural matter but in America, this is not ACCEPTABLE, POLITE or PROFESSIONAL behavior. ANDFORTHERECORD: It’s actually NEVERPOLITE to talk in another language in front of non native speaker in ANYSITUATION unless you are translating*. The food & service was solidly good but the rudeness of the staff was a BIG disappointment. There are plenty of other excellent Vietnamese around to pick from.

Deben visitarlo.

I’ve been eating phở for 10 years now. So long ago that you had to drive a pretty great distance to find it! We live in CO, and always try to find a highly recommended phở restaurant while traveling and this place is hands down the best we have found in all of the phở places we have found in FL! The ratings at this place speak for themselves, go check them out! The broth was so good, I chose not to add any sauce to mine and it stayed warm the whole meal! Fresh fruit used for their boba, too!!!

Closest it gets from phở I’ve had in the west cost. It’s far for me to come to Pensacola but I’d still drive here to eat time to time. Service is fast and food comes out hot. Vegetables are fresh that come with the soups. Price is very reasonable. Definitely one of the best phở places in the area. The restaurant is big inside too so it can accommodate a lot of people.

Maybe it was the dishes I sampled on the night I was there, but I don’t understand the rave reviews. I regularly eat Vietnamese, so it’s not like this is a new experience for me. My spring rolls were obviously pre-rolled and straight from the refrigerator, as they were delivered to the table immediately, were sticking together, and were ice cold. I ordered a vermicelli dish with shredded pork and chicken. The vermicelli noodles were a large lump, and I kid-you-not when I say the pork was so dry and leathery, I wasn’t sure what it was. Luckily the chicken was OK. The service was great, and the prices decent, but the food left a little to be desired for me. Should I again travel to Pensacola, I’ll try another of the many Vietnamese restaurants in the area.

When you walk into a Vietnamese restaurant and almost every table has a Vietnamese family sitting, you know you are going to get the most authentic Vietnamese food available. This is what you will find every time you walk through the doors at Tu-Do. Tonight, we traveled halfway around the world and sampled some of the best Vietnamese cuisine outside of Vietnam! First, let me just say that our server tonight, Mrs. Dan, was amazing. More on that later… For starters, we ordered one of our favorite appetizers, fresh spring rolls. These rolls had shrimp, pork, cabbage, cilantro, and rice noodles firmly packed inside tightly rolled rice paper, and the peanut sauce dip brought it all together for a perfect flavor. We also ordered Bo Tai Chanh. What’s that, you ask? It is a plate of raw beef slices with onions, cilantro, and peanuts, coated in lime juice and a mildly spicy red sauce. Yes, I said raw beef. Mrs. Dan cracked me up when she asked, «Are you sure?» Yes, I was absolutely sure. I like raw meat. Don’t judge me. It was amazing. Don’t knock it until you try it. I think Mrs. Dan realized that we are not amateurs when we ordered this dish. Even the kids tried, and liked, this dish. It was probably the most awesome flavor combination my mouth has ever experienced. For our entrees, Brandon ordered Lau Dac Biet, or mixed veggies and meat in a steamer pot. The presentation of this dish was really cool. It came out in a pot that was elevated above hot coals, and there was a cone in the middle of the pot to allow for thorough and even heating. It was just cool. The broth was very tasty, and there was a ton of mixed veggies(cabbage, baby corn, mushrooms, carrots), seafood(crab, squid, scallops), and other meats(beef and pork slices). It also came with a huge helping of rice noodles. This dish is supposed to feed 2, but we are fatties and we like leftovers, so he tackled this one alone. I ordered Phở Dac Biet, or rice noodle soup with beef, meatballs, and tripe. Yes, I said tripe, aka cow tongue. Again, don’t knock it until you try it, its good, don’t judge me. My Phở was served with a side plate of bean sprouts, basil, lime, cilantro, and fresh jalapeños. Coleton learned really quick that he doesn’t really care for fresh jalapeños, but the rest of my meal was fantastic! Coleton ordered Chim Cut Quay, or barbecued quail. His quail was delicious, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the portion was huge! Girl Child, being slightly more reserved to trying new foods, ordered the Com Chien Tom, or shrimp fried rice. Her meal was one of those things that makes you realize that sometimes, less is more, no frills, just generously portioned, well seasoned, and delicious fried rice. Mrs. Dan, realizing that we were willing to try almost anything, made a few suggestions during our meal to make our experience more authentic. One of the suggestions she made was to mix hoisin sauce with sriracha and make a sort of «ketchup» for dipping our meats. I’m pretty sure I won’t use American ketchup again, it was that good! She also tried to teach me how to say some of the words on the menu, and we all had a good laugh at my expense. She was so nice and friendly, we will definitely be asking for her to be our server in the future. Tu-Do offers so many traditional Vietnamese dishes that you could eat there every day for 3 months and never eat the same thing twice. I would love to visit Vietnam some day, but between now and then, I will visit Tu-Do for the Vietnamese food experience, and I highly suggest you do too! And seriously, try the Bo Tai Chanh. Its really good! Like and Share my blog, FoodLove!

This is one of my favorite places to eat after road tripping. It is an easy pop off of I-10 and worth the stop. I travel to Savannah, GA often and have never made that trip without a visit here. The Phở is delicious. Any time I am in Pensacola I make sure to stop at Tu do. The service is quick and the phở is piping hot and full of fresh vegetables and meat. The place is usually packed because the prices are so reasonable and many families have been there when I have gone. It is not necessarily an attractive restaurant. It has more of a dumpy cafeteria vibe but the price, service, and food make up for the lack of ambiance.

Awesome food! One of my personal pet peeves of eating shrimp is cleaning them well. I noticed all the shrimp in my spring roll still had the black down the middle(we all know what that is). It may be petty to some, for some reason it just bothers me. Other than that the Phở is the best around for sure.

Yes, the Unilocalers were correct! I tried the bun with chicken, pork and egg roll. Very nicely done. I loved the egg rolls. Bun is not terribly complicated but you can have dry tough meats, little or no greens or peanuts, under or over cooked noodles, etc. Everything about this dish was spot on. We started with the pork stuffed chicken wings. Wow, those were good. I could eat a bunch of these. The outside is crispy and the inside perfectly seasoned pork. I don’t want to know what the weirdly colored dipping sauce is but it goes well with the appetizer. I would stop again on my way by on I-10.

I came for some phở and it just wasn’t striking the right chord in my stomach. In other words, I don’t think the broth was that good and could’ve been cooked longer, had more/different spices, or whatever. I just wasn’t that impressed and probably won’t come back for the phở. I think it’s the mediocre food curse of Pensacola that disallows me from crushing delicious Asian good in this Southern US city. So, if you’re in the area, this place would be an OK spot to grab some lunch – I advise to avoid the phở and get something else(like a rice dish) unless you’re really in the mood for some soup on a cold gray Pensacola dusk.
