Chipotle black bean and perch were excellent. Nice to watch sunset while eating. We walked the street looking for a meal while we had a baby sitter for our kids. I can get a burger and fries any time. The waiter wasn’t knowable of he menu, but it didn’t matter. Food was great.

Well. So far were at two stars. Should have read the reviews. 15 minutes later. No food outta the kitchen yet. The previous posts… I concur. More to come HOPEFULLY food SOON. 17 minutes and counting. It was NOT busy when I first arrived. My order was taken before all the cyclists got here. Hungry!!!

Worst service EVER!!! Waited over an hour before being told they were out of one of the things we ordered. Everyone around us was waiting too. The waitress couldn’t have cared less. We ended up leaving after 1:15, without food. This place has really gone downhill.

We eat here about once a year as it’s unfortunately, and for some unknown reason, the best option in Pentwater. It never changes and never improves. The service is always crappy and slow, the food hit or miss. We LOVE sitting outside under the trees though. This time they had live music, which was surprisingly good but way way too loud. We couldn’t hear each other speak and it woke my newborn up :( For some reason the appetizers were missing off the menu this time and I couldn’t tell if some of the entrees were sandwiches or what?! I got the fish and chips, the breading was not good and the fries mediocre. My husband got the BBQ bacon burger with onion rings which was actually really good. The kids spaghetti was gross and the grilled cheese was standard.

Food was okay, service was extremely slow, and wwwaayyyy overpriced. I had the perch and it was good(very deep fried, but tasted fresh). I prefer the lightly pan fried version so there was a little more breading than I like. My husband had the landing burger with cheese. The pretzel bun was good, but the fries were just okay. My 10 month old daughter got the hot dog basket with grapes, which were not seedless, so they didn’t work for her. My toddler got the potato chip coated chicken fingers. They were probably the best thing we had. The best thing about this place is the view, but it definitely wasn’t good enough to justify the 2 hour affair(a lifetime with kids). Also, we had to kill some bees(sorry) because they wouldn’t stay away from our table. In a nutshell, we don’t recommend this place for lunch. They had a decent drink menu, so it may be better for happy hour or sunset drinks.

I had no complaints. Labor Day weekend Friday night. Outside was pretty busy but we found a table we wanted. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Cute too. We ordered chicken Caesar salad and a coconut shrimp salad, both very good. I’m picky when it comes to the lettuce and leafy stuff in my salad but the romaine was tasty and fresh. Didn’t taste like it came out of a Sysco or GFS bag. Iced tea was also good and not out of a fountain. Served with fresh lemon as it should be. I do believe the other Unilocalers’ experiences and that they could have been better. But for us I think we lucked out tonight. Service and food were perfect. I dropped a star because the prices were on the high side, especially for salads. No reason why a salad should cost as much as an entrée, period. Drinks a little high too. I get that it’s pentwater and rich Chicago snobs come to visit often, but value is value no matter what. No one wants to feel taken.

Terrible service; food took over an hour. Once it arrived, the(child’s) hot dog bun was stale, fish and fries were greasy and twice-fried, and chicken pasta was bland. A terrible experience overall; we certainly won’t be returning.

Waited an hour(no exaggeration) for lunch on a Monday afternoon at 2:00. Wait staff leisurely strolling around just adds to the frustration. 4 or 5 open tables and only one table occupied outside. Seems like a ridiculous wait for sandwiches! Won’t be back unless I see the ratings improve. Kicking myself for not checking Unilocal first.

My fiancé and I went here while on a family vacation and absolutely loved the location. In fact, that is the best thing this restaurant has. The food was okay, a little bland but most definitely better than most restaurants around per our limited experience, and the service was the same, but the ambiance and the drinks were fantastic. Their sunny deck overlooks the lake and they have some creative specialty drinks and an extensive beer and wine list(owing in part to the attached wine and cheese shop). I got the loaded Bloody Mary, we started our meal with the Mediterranean potato skins, and had the lobster cakes and Cajun burger for our meal. The Cajun burger was hardly Cajun, the lobster cakes a little mushy(and smothered in Alfredo sauce), and the artichoke dip that came with our app tasted more like a very mild hummus than a zesty artichoke dip. Also beware the mashed potatoes which are very garlic mashed(and the menu won’t tell you that). Overall, the place was fine, maybe even close to good. I recommend having drinks on the deck after you cook for yourself at home.

Was a seat yourself situation on a Friday evening and we easily found a place to sit. Place was medium busy, but we waited about 15 min for anyone to acknowledge us besides the girl who wiped off the table and said someone would be over. So bad start. I got the surf and turf burger which was ok but as the menu says — all burgers are made medium well, which is like saying they’re going to cook all the flavor out. My g/f got the fish and chips which by her estimation were«the worst» and the other member of our group got baby back ribs. I’ll take his word that they were alright, but I can’t really comment on them. I have to mention their bizarre corking fee policy. You can buy wine in their shop ahead of eating but if you want them to open it while dining, you have to pay double the bottle price. We had bought a bottle of wine but after seeing the policy there was no way we(or anyone I imagine) would do that. You’d end up paying triple the original bottle price… Huh? Also the vegetarian options aren’t good… I don’t understand why vegetarian always seems to translate to—«we must have portobello mushroom» but that’s not unique to this place. Anyway, I’m not from around Pentwater but there HAVE to be better options, find one.

I went here for dinner tonight with my family– party of 11. The service was terrible. They forgot to bring out our salads and soup. It eventually came out with our food — an hour after we ordered. Manager provided us with free desserts so that was nice that they were willing to make it right. The mushroom ravioli and bean burgers were real good. Overall food was average. If you are in a hurry this is not the place for you. Nice outside seating on patio. My parents have been here several times and enjoyed it. Tonight’s service was abnormally bad.

We ate here July 9, 2014 and it was very good. Speedy service, pleasant staff waited on us, and good fish and cherry chicken pasta was excellent. Highly recommend.

We loved it! Food was fantastic, great menu. Owner & waitstaff very friendly & accommodating. We sat outside on the deck under the birch trees, lovely! They had live music & jazz that was super fun! Great atmosphere & they let you sit wherever you want, loved that! Try the mushroom ravioli, it’s to die for! Also loved their smoked fish & the french fries are so good. Would definitely go back & recommend!

A decent place to eat in the area(believe me, they are few and far between). I like the deck and feel of the place. The food isn’t bad and they have a vegetarian section, which automatically gets them 3 stars in my book!!! However, almost all the options feature mushrooms(my husband hates), so not a lot of variety. We did like the veggie burger. Wait service was good.

Waited forever to be served. When the waiter showed up, he was new & clueless about his job. At least 15 minutes for order to be taken, another 20 minutes at least till our order showed up! Not once durring those times did our waiter check on us or refill our drinks. The worst part is, THEYWEREN’T EVENBUSY! Don’t know who they have cooking, but probably someone with little to no experience. The food was aweful to say the least. They tried passing a toasted wheat bun off as a ciabatta roll. The portabella mushroom was so over cooked it looked like it’d been put in a dehydrator first. Lettuce was wilted & turning black on edges. My husbands spaghetti was a watery mess! Will NEVER return!

Suck. Drinks were weak, food was marginal, and service was terrible. Manager chastised us when our food took 90 minutes saying«I told you it would be a wait!». Are you kidding me??? Run! Don’t walk away from that place.

Worst restaurant experience EVER! It started with the waiter having NO clue about any of the menu items after the manager or owner(not sure which) told us the kitchen was at least an hour behind. We thought«nice patio, we will make it work.» Should have left right then. Then, we ordered appetizers. The wine and cheese deep had stale pita chips that were almost indelible. The onion rings and cheese wedges were OK. Then, after waiting for an hour and a half we started seeing other tables that were seated after us starting to be served. We tried to POLITELY point this out to the waiter. His response was to CHASTISE us for ordering appetizers first! Then the owner/manager shows up and says, angrily, I TOLDYOUITWASGOINGTOBE A LONGWAIT! When we told her we were not going to be talked to like that she turned and walked away! We told the waiter we had been through all we were going to and bring us our check. The waiter came back, apologized and said he confirmed our entrée was 1 hour and 5 minutes in and«it still wasn’t looking good.» Then they did the only good thing they did all night. They comped the meal. RUNAWAY!!! This restaurant needs new management or to close permanently and quit being a stain on Pentwater.

We sat on the patio. The band was very good, a funky, blues combo. It was a much better group than I expected to find in such a remote location. We started with a couple nice moitos which were made with very fresh mint. I had the Bourbon Salmon and my wife had the Michigan Lake Perch, both were excellent. The salmon had quite a bit if sweet sauce but the fish was cooked perfectly. I choose the«vegetables» as my side. It was a huge pile of nice cooked baby carrots. My wife choose the red skin potatoes as her side which were perfectly cooked. Five stars for the music and setting. Four stars for the food and drinks. Three for the service because we had to wait a least 5 minutes to order our first round of drinks.

I’ve been a patron of Gull Landing for at least 13 years. In the space of that time it has gone through at least two owners. While the ownership has changed the product has not. There have been some modifications to the dining room as the salad bar has been removed to allow a liquor bar and some additional seating but not much else has changed. And that’s not a good thing. If you want good food to go with your ambience you won’t get it here; flavorless fish, tired pasta dishes, poorly-prepared steaks. It is to the point where I only order sandwiches or burgers because those are the only satisfying meals to be had. If the fare is disappointing the service is downright poor. Each and every time I visit there always seem to be too few servers and too many busboys milling around by the bar doing nothing. My party tonight spent 20 minutes before we were given our iced teas and another 10 for refill. Not once but twice I found myself getting out of my seat to look for our server to inquire about missing drinks or salads. Our pina coladas sat on the bar for so long they were melted by the time they made it to our table. This was on a Monday night and it was not particularly busy. My advice to my fellow diner: don’t eat here unless you’re fine waiting quite a while. This is ABSOLUTELYNOT a kid friendly restaurant considering the wait. My advice to the(always friendly) owner: put pitchers of ice water and iced tea, and soda into the hands of your busboys. Get a second bartender for weekend nights. When the kitchen is running behind, put bread out to keep your guests pacified. Get your servers back to the tables to inquire about drinks — our pina coladas were finished and we were ready for more… you’re throwing money away!
