Just bought a refrigerator from Direct Buy, I was instructed by Direct Buy to inspect and not accept if anything wrong, that was fine but then the delivery person says we only deliver we don’t bring in your house! OMG! Really? So why did I buy from them to save money only to have to hire someone to help us get in the house! I am not a happy customer!

There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews about DirectBuy floating around so I’d like to share my experiences, good and bad, with everyone. I’ve been a member for 5 years. Yes, the sales presentation is a pretty hard sell and they could work on their people skills a bit. But let’s be realistic, the cost to join and the yearly dues are where they make their money. I joined because I got into the real estate flip game and bought homes that had been vandalized. My husband was a hard sell and didn’t want to lay out the initial fee. They aren’t supposed to let you leave without paying, but the old owner of this store did, because he was smart enough to recognize that we would probably be back. I convinced my hubby to take the plunge and we actually got a discount on the fee when we called the owner and told him we were going to join. Our first purchase was a new AC unit for one of the houses we’d bought, and the savings on that purchase equaled ½ of our up front $ paid to DirectBuy. Over the years we have saved thousands of $$$ on purchases. Most recently, we were shopping for new leather sofas for our family room. Our commitment to purchase only goods made in the USA was a daunting challenge from a cost standpoint. We ended up purchasing a top grade leather sofa and loveseat from a company that makes furniture only in the USA for a total of $ 3900.00 including tax, delivery and the 8% service fee. I have priced these sofas elsewhere at several places for over $ 6,000.00 not including tax or delivery. The 8% service fee is higher than most items at 3% but still a substantial savings. What I have learned from buying through DirectBuy is that you have to do your homework and know what you are ordering. The sales associates are not trained plumbers or electricians, etc., so be very sure about what you are buying before ordering. I had one bad experience purchasing an item from them where the sales associate had made an error and we ended up splitting the cost of the mistake. I learned to check and double check before placing any orders and haven’t had a problem since.

I’m updating my review to show that a little customer service goes a long way! I want to thank Lisa for reaching out to us regarding a slight hiccup we had with purchasing some custom cabinets. Everything has been resolved and their client relations is fantastic!

I have been a member for a little less than a year. I knew the club would save me a lot of money on bigger things like floors and appliances but I have probably saved more money on the small things like pots and pans, knives, golf clubs, gun safe, linens, and my shoes. I can honestly say I have no regrets joining DirectBuy and it has been really nice not having to look every where for the best price.

I’ve been a DB member for about 5 years now, and have completed many projects in my house, and saved lots of money when compared to retail pricing. I’ve remodeled 2 bathrooms, and bought a huge master BR set, family room furniture, hardwood flooring and carpeting for the entire 2750 sq ft house, and a few appliances. One nice thing about DB is that I don’t need to shop around. Granted, some other store may be giving a close-out price on some discontinued item, but I don’t have to shop around. I can buy anytime. I was pleased to hear from a friend who visited DB, as a potential member, and all she wanted to do is remodel one bathroom in her condo. The DB person told her the membership wouldn’t benefit her. So, don’t do this membership if you don’t have a few projects in mind. But, if you do, this will save you money on higher end products — not laminate cabinets and cheaper fixtures you find at the big box stores.

Seriously! Do not attend promotion events or you will get scammed into GIVING them free money. After paying for membership, we discovered that the only way to save money was thru huge projects. You can’t even view the cataloges until after you join, at which point you realize what a scam it is. Everything has shipping and processing fees, which increased the price of goods and most items are not returnable or non-refundable, so then you end up with unwanted merchandise. You could probably get a better deal on home goods and projects through Costco, or through highly rated vendors on Angie’s list. DB probably has the same furniture and other comparison ads in their presentation room that they had two years ago when we joined. They claim to have great prices on cabinets and home remodeling, but you have to pay a $ 300 design fee. It’s hard to compare pricing with contractors when you have to pay them just to get them to give you a project quote. If you don’t use their design services, then you are totally responsible for any inaccurate cabinet specs orders.. just don’t go there!
