Closed. Changed name to Ruchi, a new Indian restaurant. Similar menu with several differences.

Rasoi has had a change in name to Ruchi!!! I came for dinner with a friend in town visiting and decided together we will find an Indian restaurant worthy of our allegiance… We find ourselves at Rasoi… DELICIOUS!!! The food was solo good! Flavorful from start to finish! And the service was warm and hospitable! I have found my Indian restaurant in Peoria… I will definitely be back again and again!!! I’ve already been craving it and it hasn’t even been a month yet!!!

I am never disappointed when I order something new. Every dish is spectacular. The Teaka masala and the bread which is called Nun are spectacular.

If you are looking for dog food made for humans this is the place to go. If you are looking for food that is only barely edible and tastes like socks this is the place to go. Ready to eat microwave indian food tastes better than this place.

One of the worst experience I had so far! First time I went to this restaurant, they served me with a curry which had a long hair in it. After I complained about it, the waiter went inside with the plate and replaced that with a coconut fiber. Not only this, they charged me for an additional naan that I did not buy. I would recommend not to go to this restaurant. Try some other place. I understand there are only three Indian restaurants and may be thats why these folks really dont care about their customers. But I would strongly recommend not to go to this place, else try Haldi or Masala. One of my friends went for a carry out and they simply refused to give a carry out while the restaurant was open. The reason they gave was; they close the carry outs by 2:30 while the sign outside said they are open till 3:00. I dont know how to report these guys, but if someone knows, please share and I would like to report these people to the correct authorities.

Their tikka masala was divine. The naan was perfect. I didn’t love the samosas, but everything else we had was fabulous. I am always nervous about these kind of strip mall restaurants, but this one definitely exceeded expectations. I am an Indian food connoisseur and I am very hard to please. I recommend this restaurant without reservation.

I have been here quite and few times. Dinner — a la carte — Taste 8 out of 10. Good presentation. One thing spoils the taste is they add cheeper vegetables in everything like zucchini. Nan is fresh as well. Weekend Lunch buffet– tasty but bland, good variety, but cold Good– Masala dosai– made in front of you, yum. Appam. Pow bajji, biriyani, all the curries. Man. Pickles. Fruit salad is nice Bad. Idly — very cold Panni puri– soggy Poori — too thick. Desert items– gulab jammun — burnt Jangly soggy and oily. They must change the frying oil more often I think. This place is much better that couple other places I tried. One plus is they have a bar, good for entertaining friends.

Kicking myself for not coming here sooner. Not only the best Indian in Peoria, but among the best Indian I’ve ever had.

This restaurant is really bad. I mean not ambience or serving or anything like that. Just the food. Today I ordered chole batoora and it is the worst I have ever eaten. The only people who will like this restaurant is who don’t have any idea of Indian food. Not only that it is really pricey. The lack of competitors in this area is why this restaurant is thriving.

Don’t deserve even a single star. Worst owner/manager ever I seen. Worst food ever seen. They are thinking like monopoly over in Peoria.

Let me preface this review with the fact I made the mistake of coming here on Valentine’s Day. I didn’t realize that it was a buffet night. I was happy with the amount of selections. I was able to find many new dishes I had yet tried elsewhere. I am a firm believer that quantity effects the quality. With that in mind I was not disappointed. I do want to try the menu on another day. The atmosphere was a strange mix of cafeteria with A live DJ. There was a very eclectic mix of music. It was a surreal experience to eat tikka masala and listen to Sir Mix-Alot. I will definitely give it another shot to try eating off the menu.

We had dinner here last night, and everything was perfect! I will definitely return if I’m in the area again. First of all, the staff was so wonderful. They were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very pretty inside. It feels likes you’re going out for a nice dinner. I like that the bar is in a separate room. I was amazed at how many tables they had for large groups. They easily accommodated our group of 10! The food was delicious! My favorite was the vegan okra dish, and I don’t normally like okra! The tandoori chicken was also outstanding. Everything else I tried was great too!

The best Indian food in town, which isn’t saying much. The food and portions are really good, the staff is a little creepy. They have people kind of foaming up and down the aisles to refill water and bus plates. While always having water is good when I eat spicy food, I feel like we are in some sort of prison system! It’s OK but kind of weird.

I love Indian food, mainly because of this place, and often have a hard time picking ONE thing off a menu, so the solution to my conundrum is their weekend Buffet! Fantastic! Great selection and TASTY with not only all the traditional standard options but some fun things in between. Their spices hit the spot; nothing seems overly spiced or obnoxiously hot, yet their food has just the right amount of fire blazing flavor. Delicious lamb and goat no matter how it is spiced, be it curry or bhuna. Love their tandoori chicken and their tomato onion chutney is to die for! Ok exaggerating, but omg it is freakin’ good! Not five stars cuz their atmosphere could use a little help. Very dim cafeteria feel to it. Also since they get so packed on the weekend(although never a wait), their wait staff sometimes seem overwhelmed and can’t get your water to you fast enough. Which is a big no-no in Indian restaurants. Need WATER or will die!

I have been here several times over the last six months and have never been disappointed. We usually get an appetizer and two entrees to share, as well as the garlic naan. We always leave very full and with leftovers for lunch the next day. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to others.

The food is good. The atmosphere is terrible. Do you feel like you’ve been waiting for twenty minutes for a server? Yes, welcome to Rasoi. If you’re new to Indian cuisine, don’t expect the staff here to help you. But the food is excellent. Hey Rasoi: develop your staff into promoters! Give them the words to explain the cuisine.

We have been Rasoi’s customers for good 2 years. This is the best place to get indian food in Peoria. They can match the level of spice per customer request and have variety of South Indian(Kerala) specialities that we crave for. We aren’t fond of the buffet because it is set to match the general public’s taste buds. What we recommend is trying items from the menu– fish in banana leaf, malabar addu curry, chettinadu lamb chops are absolute delicacies. Goat biryani is one of our favorites too. We didn’t give four stars because we have experienced that their food flavor varies at times. For the most part we have had the best items but sometimes it is just average or below. We wish the quality was more consistent especially for goat items — meat being cooked thoroughly, level of spice, flavor and service itself. We still consider Rasoi to be the best indian restaurant in Peoria. Also, try items during the Onam buffet — it’s the best time to try out authentic Kerala food –appam, stew, payasam etc. You want to visit this place for its authencity, food, options(menu items) and large portions.

Wow, unexpectedly good Indian food. We had the chicken tikka, khandahar(?) chicken, gobi aloo, and and eggplant dish: the species were subtle and well balanced. Our only complaint might be that the naan seemed a small portion for the cost

The food here is extremely fragrant and flavorful. In fact, the smell of the Tandoori Chicken at the buffet bar was infused deeply in my hair and clothing well after I left. If you don’t mind smelling like the food you just ate, eat here. I recommend going during weekday lunch hours for their standard Indian Buffet Lunch Special. For $ 11, you have access to the buffet bar stocked with aromatic curries, long grain rice, fried goodies, fresh vegetables, and a few exotic Indian Desserts. In addition endless baskets of Naan Bread awaits your enjoyment at your table. While this place does have vegetarian options, it caters more to carnivores’ dining habits. If you have a sensitive stomach, you may not want to make this place the first meal of the day. Don’t make the same mistake as I did. I had a hard time getting rid of the food from my system. My burps for the day came only in the flavor of Chicken Masala.

The chicken tika masala is just delicious. I also love the goat curry. But my favorite is… The spicy chicken phaal. Order it hot, not«American» hot, and it will be incredible. Even with the extreme heat the flavor comes through. Simply delicious! The staff has always been friendly and the place is pretty clean. I highly recommend this place.
