Dr Mark Barakat treated me this evening for several retinal tears. It was a surgery involving lasers and God knows what else. He told me it would be painless and frankly the most painful part was insertion of the IV. Dr Barakat told me everything in detail about what was going to happen, how it would be done and how long it would take me to recover. I love this guy. If you need any kind of retinal surgery, this is the man to talk to, a genuine person who is awesome at what he does. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED.

It isn’t bad enough that my eye doctor left there. But not even be told till 3 months later about it. Goes in to get my file released to me cuz knowing this place I wanted the file in my hands. I would not trust them to put it in the mail. So I goes in on Jan 2, sign the paper to have them released to me. I told them I found a new doc and when the date was. The gal looked at me and laughed and said they don’t get released until 30 days she says the doctors sit on them a long time. Which is bull from what I was told from the doctor that worked there. She said it only takes 2 – 4 days. Well the gal was to call me when to pick them up, never did receive a call. Had my new doc date and sad that doc had none of my eye cancer info to look at, that date was the 10. Today is the 21 of January still no call, I call up there. I was told oh ya we can mail em to you, I says you were to call me. What do I get on the phone OH! So I drive up and pick them up, the date they were signed off on was Jan 6. This among other things taking place is why the doc left there. Let alone to let you know, when you go in be prepared to sit bout 2 hours before you get seen. From girls that work there and the doc to being in there, I know I wont go back there. This is the one at 91 ave and Thunderbird

I was just in Arizona visiting my Mom and Grandma with a couple of visits with old friends in between. I stayed with my Grandma at her condo and was able to take on and accomplish many business and household matters for her as we are very close and she is turning 90 this year. Grandma has glaucoma and the real kind, not the cannabis seeking kind. She also has macular degeneration. The ophthalmologist deals with the glaucoma, the retinologist deals with the macular. I liked Dr. G. and I liked his staff. What I didn’t like was that we were called the day before to ask if we could change our 3:30 appointment to a 2:15 appointment and since I was in town, it wasn’t an issue. We arrived at 2:10 and weren’t called back till 2:45. After Grandma had to do the«can you read the letter tests» and had her eyes dilated, had to sit in yet another waiting room to be seen by the actual doctor around 3:50pm. Grandma was seen for a few minutes, some fears quelled and luckily, she won’t have to be seen by him again till May. We left at 4:15 after making the next appointment, but even for the Sun City crowd(retired is what I am getting at here), the total time seen by the med assistant and the doctor totaled about 25 minutes. The rest of the time was spent waiting and anyone dealing with the elderly(or small child) should know that waiting is not the easiest thing to do. This is a very busy office and don’t get me started on the parking lot situation with lack of ramps for walkers or lack of handicapped parking spots.
