United Kung Fu

I own and operate Tai Chi at Golden Mountain Tai Chi in Taos, New Mexico, and I can say without qualification that United Kung Fu is an excellent martial arts academy with friendly, well-​trained instructors and a world-​class curriculum. Training at United Kung Fu has forced me to take my training to a new level. The standards are high, as are the results you’ll get training at UKF.

If you would’ve told me that at the age of 61, I would be taking Kung Fu training with my wife, son, daughter, granddaughter and grandson, I could’ve had you committed — and with the quickness! But that’s what’s actually happening and we absolutely LOVE IT!!! The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, proficient and true professionals. We’ve all been training for over a year now at United Kung Fu and I firmly believe their superior quality training programs are all second to none. You want the best training? Try United Kung Fu. You will not be disappointed.

It has been six months since my last review of United Kung Fu. I still love coming in to train. I have advanced to the rank of red belt. And am a Certified Instructor Trainee. We are learning how to teach. I’m so happy here, I brought my son with me to train. He’s very enthusiastic about learning Kung Fu. If anyone is interested please friend them on face book.

This is a great school to learn martial arts and so much more. I joined more than 3 years ago along side with my wife and son. We have been learning Kung Fu together as a family and we enjoy the family friendly atmosphere. Learning Kung Fu is a lifelong experience. It is not only good for the body to stay agile, strong, fit and overall healthy and of course self defense. It also helps tremendously to build confidence, self discipline and respect for authority figures. It takes a lot of work and dedication learning and advancing every step of the way. That is what learning Kung Fu means after all. I recommend this academy to all, at every age, with no reservations.

Friendly but disciplined, rewarding for both body and mind. Family members can train together. Highly recommend this academy.

I have been a student at UKF for more than 3 years. The training has given me more than I ever expected. I have gained self-​confidence, improved my health, strength and flexibility. The instructors are awesome! I highly recommend United Kung Fu. They are friendly, very family oriented and offer programs for all ages.

Excellent Tai Chi in the late mornings. They have four ½ hour sessions, each one building on foundation of the previous one. I started with first ½ hour and then to first hour. I’m now doing 2^nd & 3^rd sessions. Very logical on advancing. Awesome for beginners, and it would appear to be great for advanced (I’ll find out about that as I progress). I don’t understand others comment about discourtesy as this place is the most courteous I’ve ever seen. So much «sir» this & that I felt I was back in the Armed Forces…

This is a luck of the draw kind of place for $ 99 a month for its daytime students.
Not the best place for beginners if you are interested in day classes with consistent good instruction. The least prepared staff is not adequately supervised and I often ended up with this person as an instructor which resulted in unprofessional conduct and the even less prepared students trying to lead the class. Disrespectful behavior was the rule and it was not addressed and the class often disintegrated into joke telling and personal issues.
When senior staff members actually teach the class it is excellent but you will be paying $ 99 a month to figure out which day & time that will be. You will not be allowed to change class schedules as they have limited offerings.
Problems with staff and out of control adult students are not addressed.
I learned because I was determined and willing to practice with other groups outside of class. I decided there are better places with consistent instructors and respectful environments that make the experience a good one. If you are a beginner be kind to yourself and find another place to train.

This is a great traditional Kung Fu academy. They teach the Southern style and I have really enjoyed my training there.
