Neat little county fair that has been in operation for 112 years. The fair grounds are on Wilmington Road(State 25) just East off the I-57 expressway(Exit 327) in the town of Peotone. This fair is a bit larger than many others throughout Illinois. The Will County Fair has all the usual entertainment and agricultural events. It also has an extensive carnival section on the East side of the grounds behind the grandstand… well worth visiting and fun for everyone if you are in the carny mood. We went on a Thursday and it had a bit of a crowd, but nothing like it will be on the weekend. We went through the cattle, sheep, swine, and horse barns. Tons of fun and a lot to see. Most of the judging will be Friday through Sunday but the animals were all there… most getting groomed. Food choices were excellent also… we tried the brisket at Jimmy Jo’s and it was delish… they have their main store in Bourbonnais and it should be worth a visit because their brisket at the fair was wonderful… meaty, thick, just enough fat, and juicy. Yum. While this fair is at the end of the fair season in Illinois and many kids are already back in school, this place is really worth the trip on the weekend. Of course, the county fair is not as large as the state fair but then it is much more approachable also. Great fun.
