Second visit here since change from John Muir. First visit, no appointment, arrived 7:45am, did not get in for tests until after 9am. Lobby overfilled, receptionist was rude and talking on cell phone and gossiping with the other staff members(which all those waiting could hear). The waiting room is tiny — 7 ft x 10 ft, with 8 chairs, we were standing room only. Second visit, made appt. 2 days in advance, arrived 15 minutes before appt. time, signed in, NORECEPTIONIST. I took the last of the 8 seats, after 15 minutes I asked another patient about the receptionist. She told me she was there yesterday and they only have the two staff people there doing labs now, no receptionist. Other people kept arriving, signing in, it was standing room only. The kept coming out and calling names of people who had arrived before me but did not have an appointment(you have to indicate on the sign-in sheet if you have an appt.) So making an appt. makes no difference at all, you still have to wait until your name is next on the list. Finally 20 minutes after my apt time, I was called up to the reception area to turn in my lab order and insurance information, then waited another 10 minutes before being called in. The tiny waiting area is filthy(carpet is disgusting), the water on the water server was empty(there were full ones on the floor below the chairs) but there were no drink cups available. The other patient said it was the same yesterday. They refuse to send a copy of my lab ordered by a specialist to my GP, saying I would have to bring it to him, their policy is to not allow labs to be sent to any doctor other than the one ordering it. Last time I had tried to get one copy of the report sent to me, and they had refused. I sent them a letter citing California law which requires that a patient be given a copy of labwork if requested. So I asked about sending me a copy, and they allowed that. From now on I will go over to Quest, which is close by and run much more professionally.

Billing has been painless. I’ve been a walk-in twice and both times immediately seen/super short wait. The lady taking my blood was phenomenal both times. First time in my life I haven’t had a panic attack during a blood draw. She was fast, efficient, confident, and did butterfly on the top of my wrist – no one’s done that before and first time I had no disappearing veins. 1 stick only both visits. Seriously superb customer service. They know what they are doing. I don’t know why 2 one star reviews below.

I seriously dislike this lab. They always take forever to find my standing order. They make rude comments about my fancy Walnut Creek doctor and once they even lost my blood. Just stopped going back.

Friendly staff gets three stars but overall experience sucks. One person staffing reception and taking samples. Seriously 4 patients an hour is pathetic. This is second time in a row now. I miss Miuir Labs.
