This was a great experience for my girlfriend and I who haven’t been on a horse since we were kids. Zena is very knowledgable and very safety conscious, which put us at ease. I highly recommend!

Talked to Zena and Vandar(the two owners) beforehand and they gave me all the info I needed– nice over the phone and informative. Made the drive out to Awesome Farm– it was a pretty drive and a chance to see a new area, so it didn’t seem like a long drive. When we got there, the building number was clear to see, but didn’t see a sign for«Awesome Farm». To be noted: this is not like an «establishment», this is a personal home where business is run out of. Keep that in mind, and don’t be scared off! They have basically a little farm on their property, so expect the place to reflect that. However, Vandar and Zena greeted us and after we changed into long jeans, we began the informative demonstration performed by Zena. We opted to arrive 30 mins before our appt time so we could help saddle the horses and hear the info about horses and horse care. It was very informative, and we learned all about the different equipment involved and how to use it. We even got to clean the horse hooves. It had been a while since we rode, so it was good to have the extra time to become comfortable about the horses. Zena kept reiterating the danger horses can pose, and since helmets weren’t provided and you sign a waiver beforehand, it was a little nerve wracking at times, but it was a good reminder about how to be careful around powerful creatures– again, don’t be scared off! We rode around the area, including going over a major road with the horses into a desert and rocky area. The pathway was clear itself, but there were a lot of pretty boulders in the area. There was also a lot of misc. dumped items in the area, but it looked kind of cool against the desert. At one point Zena lets you ride around a large area and you pretty much have free reign to do whatever you want. They pretty much tailor the ride to your comfort level. If you are an experienced rider, they have a path where you can gallop around and such. Just explain what you are looking for in your ride experience. At one point we stopped to take pictures, as Zena recommended, and it was cool they had a saddle pouch where we could carry some items like the camera. She took the picture and surprisingly it came out beautifully as she was also on her horse at the time. Afterwards, we took the saddles off and watched her hose off the horses. Overall we had a great time! Being a married couple running a business together, Zena and Vandar bickered some at times, but it was more funny than anything. It was definitely a very memorable and fun horseback riding experience!
