Recently I placed an order with Burlingham Books for a set of hard to find volumes. I have looked for these volumes for several years and was excited to see a set in the online inventory of Burlingham Books. Several days after placing the order I was contacted by customer service with a notice that the inventory of the firm was inaccurate and the purchase was voided. Such things happen and are understandable. What is hard to understand is after I purchased two-​day shipping, it took several days to attempt to fill the order. If you are looking for good customer service, expedient filling of orders, or the webstore Burlingham Books is sadly not the firm for you.

This shop would be a gem anyplace, but really shines in Wyoming County. Apart from a well-​curated selection of books for sale, there are lots of educational toys and games, plus a little play area to keep kids busy while adults shop. There’s a terrific selection of greeting cards and gifts for all ages. With its wifi, coffee, and entertainment in addition to books, it’s a bright light in the reviving Main Street scene in Perry.

This bookstore is a true gem. I first discovered it when my friends and I were camping in Letchworth years ago and deprived of our coffee for days we took the trek to get there (it’s not really that far, but when google maps fails you it can be). It was stepping into an oasis when we first got there… the smell of coffee and new books, along with the added plus of wifi was heaven. While unfortunately things like Amazon have made books available for cheaper, when I have the extra time or money I like to head up to Perry and see what I can find here. They also have a good selection of gift items, and live music. They’re a «shop around the corner» in a world of F-​O-​X books.

I have to agree with everything that Kathryn B said in her review, and I’m not even related to the store owner!
It is a great little store and a welcome addition to sleepy little Perry. I had a great cup of coffee and enjoy the store’s unique selection of books. I have not attended any of the live musical performances but I’m sure it’s better quality entertainment than any other joint within a 30 mile radius.

I always try to support local, independent shops and this is definitely one of the nicest.
