I just rented one of their larger units with my Mother so we could get some stuff out of our houses and eliminate some clutter. The process of renting the unit was very easy. We have our own access code to get into the property and the manager lives right next door which I like. We did purchase a lock from Extra Space based on their recommendation, but even when they called me back after reserving my unit online they did say that I was able to bring my own if I wanted, The cost of the unit does go up a bit from the advertised monthly price due to the insurance, but I think the cost of that depends on the value of items in the unit. We aren’t storing anything of value, just furniture, decorations, and sentimental items. The insurance does cover flooding, but the location is on a hill and the units’ floor is raised up about an inch from the ground so I don’t think water damage will ever be an issue, but nature has it’s own plans! I will update my review throughout the time I have the unit based on my experiences.

DONOTUSETHISFACILITYIFYOUVALUEYOURPOSSESSIONS!!! MYVALUABLESWERESTOLENFROMTHISSO-CALLED«SECURE» FACILITY! In March, 2014, I rented a storage locker from Extra Space Storage in Perry, OH. At the time, I rented a small locker, with metal door. I purchased a padlock, with 2 keys, from Extra Space Storage.(They have them in their office.) Once I signed the rental agreement, I loaded my items into the locker, locked the lock with the key, took both keys, and departed for my new home in California. Because I had moved out of state, I did not come to «visit» my storage locker until July. Imagine my horror to discover that my big screen TV, smaller TV, mountain bikes, and other items had been stolen out of my locker! I immediately called the Sheriff, who took the report. The lock had not been tampered with, nor had the door been forced open. Still, the items were missing. Fortunately, I had purchased insurance for my unit. I filed a claim for the missing items, which was investigated in due time. BUT, since there was no evidence of forced entry, the insurance company(referred by Extra Space Storage) denied the claim. The only way that someone could have entered that locker was with a key. And I have had both keys in my possession in California the entire time that I had the locker. Hmmm… Did someone have a pass key and let themselves in? After all, I bought the lock from the Extra Space Storage office. I’ll let you be the judge. DONOTUSETHISFACILITY! Do yourself a favor and go to another self storage facility. Don’t become a victim of Extra Space Storage in Perry, Ohio!
