I got a strawberry shortcake here and it was HUMONGOUS. So good. Couldn’t be better. Highly recommend this local favorite. Lines are longggg in the summer! Definitely worth the wait though.

I forget a couple of things when I’m back in a small town. The first is how CHEAP everything is compared to dining out in a city. The second is that the chances of the employees knowing where their food comes from are pretty slim. «Where do you get your ice cream?» «Uhh…what do you mean?» «Like, what’s the brand?» «Hey, where do we get our ice cream… R-E-G-A-L.» I’m not laying judgment on the teenager who took my order, nor am I poking fun at her. I’m 95% sure I was the first person to have asked that question. Rather, it’s a friendly reminder to myself that I’ll save that question for the appropriate establishment, which is not a hometown ice cream shop. The ice cream is run-of-the-mill. I tasted more icy flavors in the blueberry cheesecake and chocolate peanut butter, so I ordered a small peanut butter cup hurricane(think Dairy Queen blizzard) instead. The portion was quite large for being a «small», which was a great value. The vanilla soft serve was a bit bland, so I was thankful for the generous amounts of crumbled chocolate and peanut butter swirled in. I had bits in every spoonful. The girl behind the counter even drizzled some peanut butter on top, which was a nice touch, especially since I had interrogated her just minutes before. All in all, East End Double Dip is loved by those who live in the Peru community… and it will probably stay that way. This out-of-towner might not be coming back, but I know that won’t stop the lines from forming.

Be prepared to stand in line for a while when EEDD is open — doesn’t matter when you go, it’s always busy — FOR A REASON!!! Great pizza and delicious ice cream treats.
