This event is definitely catered towards children and families. We had fun, but there was definitely elements lacking to cater towards the young adult crowd. The food all smelled delicious and the beer gardens were fun, but the parade was nonexistent from the beer garden. The floats were cute, and it was nice to see the different parts of this area all in one place.

What a great, well rounded, full of fun parade. Beautiful weather today, no rain! Saw people I knew, socialized with people I just met. A good ‘ol hometown feel day!

So, where the heck were the butter and eggs? Thousands of people showed up to the festival today, so I thought it would be pretty great if it had that much hype. Really it was just like any other festival with funnel cakes, corn dogs and garlic fries, no butter or egg dishes or booths anywhere to be found. Not like I was expecting for a festival supposedly honoring the amazing fresh dairy and eggs of the area.

We went to the Petaluma Butter & Egg Festival. It’s been on my list of places to go and we finally did. I got up later than I wanted and then we hit traffic in Oakland so we missed a few things: Cow Chip Throwing Contest 10 a.m. — in front of McNears Cutest Chick Contest Costume Contest for the 6 and under set 10:15 a.m. — Kentucky Street Stage Kids Parade 11:30 a.m. — Walnut Park to A Street Parking Lot We made the: 2009 Butter & Egg Days Parade Noon. 4th& D Streets to Kentucky to Washington Washington to The Blvd, Petaluma Boulevard to D Street It was pretty good for a small town parade. I love parades. It was 1.5 hr long. Lots of marching bands, some local politicals: Mayor, councilmember, some Vietnam Vets, remembering Vets that have died, floats. Some gave candy, I think Raley’s gave out fresh orange, some got re-usable bags. Food: basic festival foods: corn dogs, meat on a stick, saw a cupcake booth — Kingdom Cake. Hubby bought 3 mini cupcakes for $ 5 — just ok. Worth going if you’re in the area, not worth the drive from Fremont. Website:
