Stopped by on my way home from Davis as I was driving right passed it & would be easier than driving out of my way to the grocery store just for green onions. The concept behind this place is nice, organic, all natural, etc., but there wasn’t much of a selection, what was there didn’t look too healthy and they didn’t even have been onions. So with that I will ended up at the grocery store. Won’t go out of my way or waste my time coming here.

didn’t find it to be extra special in terms of selection but probably visiting during the wrong season. certainly a locals type place, and nice, large picked on the farm vegetables.

Awesome place! Really dedicated people and we got a whole sack of fresh, organic veggies for much less than Whole Foods. Plus, there’s no CEO that’s a total phony a-hole pretending like he cares.

Green String Farms is the best for the freshest produce in the area. They grow their own fruits and veggies, so you can only find what is in season at that time. We’ve found wonderful new types of produce — along with good heirloom versions of standards, such as tomatoes and the BEST golden beets I’ve every had. In addition to the really beautiful and delicious produce, they carry a full array of local cheeses, grass-fed beef, an assortment of truly scrumptious breads, and farm fresh eggs. The bread and eggs disappear fast, so you might not find them if you shop there in the afternoon. We love Green String and drive over specially from our home in Mare Island for the produce! Highly recommend it!

AMAZING. I wish I could give this place a million stars. I go here every weekend to get my produce. They have a great supply of diverse, organic produce year round, plus fresh herbs for $ 1 a bunch, flowers, fresh bread from a local bakery, canned goods, meat, eggs(if you get there at the right time), and cheeses. For organic produce, their prices are phenomenal. Their awesome staff are lovely, so friendly and are so knowledgeable about the food. They offer a free farm tour Saturdays at noon. They also have picnic tables overlooking some of their fields. Don’t forget to stop by and see the beautiful chickens. And don’t forget those reusable bags! They accept credit cards, but there is only one register — and sometimes if there is a long line, they’ll take cash customers aside and weigh your produce and check you out separately. So having cash might get you out quicker if you go at a busy time. Check this place out, I’m sure you’ll fall in love just like I have.

Yes this farm is FANTASTIC. I’ve visited several times now from San Francisco. The prices are amazing, the quality superb, and the drive is worth it if you have a nice lunch out up there. All of the seasonal produce I’ve tried has been delicious and high quality. Whatever is in season is good and what you should buy, plus that means it’s bountiful and will be on sale. For example, right now stone fruit is 20 lbs for $ 20, so get it while it’s good! The grass fed ground beef is $ 7/lb, which may be expensive, but seriously it tastes so much better than other ground beef I’ve had, even other grass fed beef. It’s worth it. The olive oil is great and you can sample before you buy it. The eggs are fresh and they give you a discount if you bring your own carton. I have yet to do this because I always forget. This friendly and approachable farm is definitely a must and I love supporting local farms.

Support your local farm. Seriously, buy local before here first before you hit the chain grocery stores. Doesn’t get much fresher and you are supporting a great organization.

Like some others– I WAS a customer. Until my wife and I saw some concentration camp looking cats. How can they be concerned about the welfare of the food and thus me– the customer if they cannot be bothered to be responsible with these cats and now ensuing kittens? It is an apparent disconnect, so I am unable to buy from them. I will update this if they humanely handle the situation. Until then there are wonderful other local organic farms.

OMG, how have I NOT written a review for this place! I’ve been coming here for at least 4 years and LOVE it! The veggies are always what’s in season and super fresh. You can get olive oil, 20+ year aged red wine vinegar(which is usually super fruity to the smell), local cheese, aged meat cuts(frozen), and even fire wood. How can you not love this place? The service is wonderful(try to bring your own bags — they now charge 10 cents each and that includes the veggie bags) and there is nothing to complain about this place. Well, except in the Winter the whole area surrounding and driving up to this place is muddy from the rain. So no sports or lowered cars, or rather drive in at your own risk. Every time I go back there is some product available at rock bottom prices that I just have to have! For example, for years a full jar of the red wine vinegar was $ 3, now it’s $ 5. I mean … who the heck can beat that?! They have later open hours too. Open till 6 pm. I say, get in!!! Go out of your way! You’ll find something you love! Last time I was there(a few weeks ago) I picked up kale, collard greens, baby artichokes(finally found a way to prepare those perfectly — hit me up for it), rainbow chard, red wine vinegar with a new jar, fresh woody savory bundle, and a bottle of olive oil(Yes, a dollar an ounce) for $ 16. This year it’s so peppery you need to use it sparingly! The costs are going up but totally worth it.

I have driven past this place tons of times and finally stopped. It’s a cute farm with reasonable prices. The two items that caught my eye were the baby artichokes and the huge barrel of whole almonds. They offer a community wide composting program and also offer free farm tours every Saturday at noon. Thankfully, I didn’t see any of the cats the other reviewers mentioned.

I used to shop here all the time too, but the cat situation bummed me out as well. I kept hoping they would take a different stance. Dear owners, I understand that an organic sustainable farm can not use certain methods to rid rodents, but this is hard for us animal lovers to see. Regardless of what they will ever admit to you, I think some of your staff is totally bummed about it too! keeping the Moral up for your team is important. Your teams enthusiasm about being there and their passion for what they are doing is critical to you standing out in a ever increasing trend of friendly organic farm. They not only have to deal with their own distress for the wellbeing of the kittens but they have to be subjected to the public’s upset ranting about them all day too. You guys have amazing potential for being a leader in this segment, step up.

They should be more compassionate towards the cats and kittens on their property. They expect their cats and kittens to survive on rodents. If a customer wants to show mercy towards the cats, what harm does it do? There are other methods to rid their property of rodents. This is how they expressed their reason for why they have to refused offers of cat food for these emaciated cats. This is animal abuse. Question to Green String Farm: Do you treat your dogs on your property the same way? What harm can be done by allowing a customer to have one of your female cats spayed at their expense? One star because I was strong armed.

The idea behind this farm is wonderful but being an animal lover, I cannot go there again. They have a small colony of cats there, they are«used» to kill mice. These cats are relatively tame as they get attention from customers(they are not feral) and are nice cats. The owners and manager of GSF have their own philosophy of how these cats should be taken care of which includes not getting them spayed/neutered, not getting them vaccinated, not treating them for fleas they have and not feeding them cat food so they will hunt. These cats are thin, flea infested and almost starving. Recently there was a litter of kittens there and when I would go I could hear customers voicing their concern for the welfare of these cats to no avail. I know someone contacted Forgotten Felines who tried to help by offering to spay/neuter and vaccinate the cats for free and the manager refused their offer. That’s when I stopped shopping here. I cannot support a group of people who have so little regard for the health and well being of animals who depend on them. I know others who feel as I do and will not shop here anymore either. I wish there were more like us, so that maybe the people who run this place would listen.

I love going here. Lots of yummy veggies! I love their lettuce and spinach. I haven’t really seen a good variety of fruits. Lots of vegetables and plants and other random things. Bring your own bags because they charge per bag you use. Why only 3 stars? Forget about trying to call them. They don’t have time to talk to you. Customer service isn’t as great as I thought it was. I really truly love going here but one bad experience is enough for me.

Cute little place on the side of the road with lots of veggies and trees. Can’t say the chickens looked as good as the produce, though– all of them were missing feathers down their back. Hope they’re okay! We also didn’t find any fruit here, although I guess we could have bought a $ 6 fig tree… We got some carrots from here and they were pretty tasty, even though my dad made us eat them with dirt still on them. We survived, so that’s points for Green String!

Shop local. True gem. Here you will find the most fantastic selection of fresh, seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs. Incredible, just-picked heirloom tomatoes and basil. Fresh eggs. Tons of starter plants. The folks here are passionate about sustainability, and it shows. There are also farm animals! Lots of baby goats when I visited.

This place RULES. I have recently been driving up from SanFrancisco for farm fresh eggs and stocks of the pickled cabbage! I could live on the pickled cabbage!
