Kastania Vineyards is a great place to go for boutique wines in a «serene» setting! Hoot and Linda are the perfect hosts… knowledgeable, and friendly, they make you feel like«one of the family» when tasting their wines. Great wines w/reasonably priced tastings, which is why«I» visit often. This is my «Cheers» where I enjoy my fav, the Proprietary Blend! If you haven’t already, I highly recommend you visit this place!

This was a great place to stop in and try some red wines. Hoot is so friendly and even took us on a tour of the winery. Great wines and great company!

Great little mom & pop winery. Hoot & Linda were very sweet. It’s a little tricky to get to and Hoot spent time on the phone with us and our friends and actually guiding us there as we were driving. Great wines, they specialize in Pinots and actually have a white Pinot Noir. There was only one other couple there so the owners spent a lot of time with us. Not a beautiful or grand winery by any stretch. Just a small simple barn-like building. The opposite of a big touristy winery.

Super friendly owners are the ones doing the tastings. The wines are excellent, and the $ 5 fee can’t be beat anywhere around. This should be your first stop off of 101 heading up to Sonoma. Ask for a barrel tasting to get a feel for their various clones. Truly an exceptional, down to earth wine tasting experience! Construction has made it somewhat more difficult to get here from 101. Just exit Kastania road and stay on it(sign says no outlet… it’s the right road) instead of taking the direct exit off 101 by the gas station.

Beautiful patio and friendly owners. Only $ 5 tasting fee and they invited us to do a barrel tasting on the house. Great place :)

This was a delightful little vineyard. We stopped in on our way back to San Francisco. The couple who owns it were nice to talk to and the wine tasting was very good. Ended up buying a unique bottle of a white Pinot noir. Tasty and uncommon to be sure!

Very nice Pinot Noirs, a bit pricey but they are small producers so it’s understandable.

Very friendly, personable experience, hosted by the owners themselves. Mainly Pinots, including a delicious, rare Pinot Blanc. You get to taste 6 or 7 wines for $ 5 — probably the best deal in Sonoma County. If they’re not too busy, they’ll even show you around the place. It’s a little tricky to get in and out of, with all the highway construction going on around there. But let your GPS guide you, and you should be okay.

Absolutely love this place. Hoot and Linda, the owners were amazing. They spent time explaining to us how their wine was made and were very generous with their pours. Will definitely be back again. Some of the best wine I’ve ever tasted, love that their wines are called after their grandchildren.

Tiny little mom and pop winery secluded away for a real treat! They make only Pinot Noir and do a great job of it. Wines named after their grand kids. Owl themed due to the owls that are on the property. A great find and definite go to if you like Pinot.

If you like Pinot Noir then this is definitely the place for you. Run by a very friendly and welcoming couple, Kastania is a great winery to visit if you find yourself in Petaluma. They grow everything on their property. Their wines are named after their grandkids(so sweet!). Loved getting to taste the Pinot Noirs back to back because it gave a really good comparison of the different flavors they were able to get out of their grapes. A surprisingly extensive variety for a relatively small production!

Lovely wine — so good I actually dragged 4 bottles transatlantic in my luggage(wrap red wine well if you ever attempt that!) to share. It’s a simple place with really nice owners and I’ll be buying more as needed as it’s nice to be able to showcase the hyperlocal. So why not 5 stars? Just anticipation on my part that there is truly something so great out there it deserves 5. I wish I could express my opinion that it’s really a big 4+ stars, but, alas, Unilocal doesn’t allow those nuances yet. Go there. Buy some!

Hidden away in Petaluma is this fantastic little family run winery that excels at making Pinot Noirs and also has a delicious cab blend that you can taste on site. If you have time make it out to this place. The owners are super friendly and have a great story to tell. This would be an excellent place to stop for someone going to the city from Sonoma county or someone from Marin or SF to stop and taste on the way through Wine Country. The 2012 Pinot Noir is delicious.

I was surprised at the quality of this wine, given the somewhat humble location off the highway and price point. This winery is proof that slapping a big price tag and spending millions on your tasting room doesn’t make your wine taste any better(hint, hint, most Napa wineries). The owners were lovely and unpretentious; a breath of fresh air in comparison to what I’ve grown to expect from the larger, Disneyland wineries in Napa. It’s no surprise that the only negative review of their wine came from a French woman; their pride prevents them from giving California wines credit where it’s due ;)

Absolutely loved the nice couple running this place. They were Sweet and inviting. They allowed ou5 well behaved pup to hang out while we enjoyed the wines. We ended up buying, of course. The cold weather cabernet(Kastania Proprieter’s Blend) was my favorite. Thank you for great conversation, great wine, and a great attitude. My dog Freddy appreciated the good company and treats. ;)

Fantastic winery! Family owned and operated and treated us like part of their family. We have been wine tasting in Northern California for the past five years and it’s always great when you find a gem where the people are friendly and the wine is delicious. Jump off the 101 and give them a try.

Very small estate vineyard but they are so nice and personable and have a huge history with their location. I recommend stopping by this location if you are a red wine lover or looking for a friendly conversation.

I absolutely love this winery. The owners are great — they even gave my boyfriend and I a tour of the whole place and explained the process from vine to bottle. The Pinot Noir Blanc was perfect for the heat that day for there outside area. I ended up taking home a bottle of the Proprietors Blend — delicious!

lovely, family owned & run small winery in Petaluma that I would highly recommend to my fellow Unilocalers! Our wine specialist, Christina, who ran our wine tasting was wonderful. She was knowledgable about all the wines, and made us feel like part of the family. This was the first winery we stopped at along our Sonoma county wine hopping day and it was our favorite by far. The quaintness is so lovely. If you are in the Petaluma area, don’t miss stopping here!
