Mcnear Park

This is one of the more popular parks in Petaluma. There are always kids there to play with. Sand, lots of open space, sports fields, and a nice playground. Also bathrooms and tons of shade is a major plus.

Fantastic space! I grew up on 8^th Street a few blocks away and made use of this park and The Boy’s Club almost daily. I still visit here 52 years later and I appreciate it more than ever.
BTW Unilocal has the location wrong as of July 2015. This Park is between F and G Streets just west of 8^th Street. The Google map shown is correct.
The park at 320 N. McDowell Blvd is McDowell Park!

Excellent for kids! There are two play structures, one for small kids and one for bigger kids. There are four big kid swings and two toddler swings, but are located across the playground from each other. Plenty of space to run in the big green field. There are also many benches surrounding the playground. The playground is central to the entire park which includes tennis courts (2) and baseball fields (2). At the corner opposite the playground are many picnic tables, popular for parties. Bathrooms are located near the playground.

What an awesome neighborhood park! Mcnear Park is walking distance from my in-​laws new home. My husband’s friends host a fun horseshoe tournament at this park every year. My first visit to Mcnear was for the tournament four years ago not long after meeting my husband. The tourney is fun for both the participants and spectators (like myself), since there are lots of shady trees to sit and watch the games under.
In addition to horseshoe pits there are small and very large BBQ pits. It’s a wonderful park for small families or big groups. We saw two large parties last time we were here, with bounce houses set up and elegantly decorated picnic tables!
There is a restroom near the children’s play area. The restroom and the park alike are very clean. Lots of garbage and recycling cans around. Leave no trace!

great park for family’s! great for bbq’s. has a nice shade area to sit and a fun play structure for kids!

It is a good park for a variety of ages. There is a small sandbox by the toddler structure. Tall slides, 4 swings, bathrooms near the playground, grass area, tennis, and ample parking.
It’s not very stroller friendly around the playground. Good place for playdates.

Great place to play ball, or hang out. The playground area is shaded by large trees, and is very relaxing.
