Well, it’s down to one star now. I looked at my prior criticisms, such as the unsightly restroom with its open door to the patio, and in the intervening months nothing has been done to fix the situation. Either that type of thing does not bother management, or that are deaf to criticisms. As you enter the front door, the restroom is in the patio with the door wide open revealing the toilet, the sink, paper, etc. Not an appetizing sight, for sure. It seems to me that the owner is not concerned about what opinions we might have regarding their restaurant. Prices have been radically increased and it’s hard to find a economic meal here. So I’m giving only one star now and probably will not be returning to review again. I did notice a lack of business, so it appears to be on a death spiral. It had such great promise when they first opened.

Hummus is a bit bland for my liking but other than that this place has good service and tasty food :)

This is our go to place for takeout when we feel lazy for dinner and want something fast and absolutely delicious. I recommend the #23 and the dolmas, it’s our go to dinner at least every other week.

I called and had Real Doner cater my son’s first birthday, and am so incredibly pleased with every aspect of my choice. First, the gentleman who took my order was so nice, and explained everything we’d be getting and how the portions would work out. I basically let him set the tone for what would be made– and ordered a few extra things as well– like the Lahmacun, which is a favorite of mine. The food was ready at exactly the time they said it would be(right at the start of a Saturday morning for them), it was delicious, hearty, and every person at our party(25 in total) raved about the food. Everyone. My experience with them was top notch, and I don’t hesitate at all in referring others in need of a large order in contacting them for birthday partiers, etc.

I stopped in today with a friend who hadn’t know about this Turkish restaurant. She was so impressed with the food. We had the sample platter that was plenty for both of us. We did order another basket of bread to mop up all the goodness. If you like big flavors than this is the place for you. I will be returning again and again. Great service and the place is clean. It’s also kid friendly.

A tasty doner and an even tastier appetizer of cacik! I’d like to go back and try the iskender kebab. They were also super friendly to my dog and brought her water and even a bit of chicken shawarma! Super nice people.

A great mom and pop’s place. Very casual environment and the food is great. Food has a lot of flavors. Another great example of Petaluma’s expanding culinary diversity. I have been here many times and my mouth always waters when I think about the food. They have the best kofta kabob north of San Francisco! We love Maykedah in SF, and so this is comparable and less expensive!

Large portions, flavorful, great price and fast! I have only ordered for pickup. The staff are friendly at the register. I like to order the hummus — large portion that will last for few days. I like to eat it with English cucumber. They close at 9 and I have found if I order too late they are sometimes out of certain things. #23 is a must!

UPDATE! I came here 2 years ago and loved it… this time, I wasn’t as enthusiastic. The mezze sampler platter seems to have devolved, and there seems to be mayonnaise in just about all of the sauces now. I hate mayo, so I wasn’t really a fan. Service was also pretty slow and wonky, and the bread was pretty lame. I thought I remembered it being pita bread last time — now it was just white bread. I would probably not go here again, sadly.

there are few places here in Petaluma for really good home style ethnically diverse food that is counter culture to the atypical new age American yuppie, and«authentic Mexican cuisine!» fortunately what you find here is a a gem for robust and delicate blend of flavorings. We ordered a lil bit of everything, from lamb & chicken kabobs, falafel, appetizer combo filled with hummus, bubba and tons of other yummy goodness’s. plus not to forget Thea lil cigarette things of filo dough filled with feta cheese! Service was excellent and the Effes lager was fresh. piping hot Turkish coffee was as good as always. I will definitely be a returning customer. thank you! a very satisfied customer.

This place is now one of our favorite spots to eat! I instantly fell in love with the cleanliness and the ambience of this place. It took slightly longer than usual to receive our food, but it was worth it! Everyone in our family enjoyed their food. The meat was so tender and the vegetables were very fresh! I would of took a picture of the food before I ate, but I was too excited! I will be recommending this place to friends and family for sure!

Casual location, reasonable prices and BIG flavor. Want to know what to start with? The half hummus, half eggplant salad dish. Oh my… I used the last piece of bread to make sure there wasn’t a molecule left of it that I had missed on that plate or I would have felt like I had missed out. Our entrée was a mixture of lamb and beef shaved over a bed of rice and vegetables. The dipping sauce put the flavors of the meat over the top. If you are staying at the Metro hotel, this restaurant is one block over. Check it out!

Went here for lunch. Very unassuming place adjacent/inside of a mechanic shop but independent. The food is authentic and so good. The chicken kabob was great the thinly sliced greens were delicious and the sauce was so good. The Baklava was cooked there. Perfectly sweet and cooked and fresh honey. Going back next week.

Closest I’ve come yet to reliving my memorable Turkish vacation: Delightfully tasty lamb and beef or chicken doner wraps washed down with a dark Efes under their covered patio on a sunny day. Enjoying a leisurely cup of comforting(and addicting!) Turkish tea while satisfying my sweet tooth with a flaky, crispy sweet baklava(also a fan of the bird’s nest-like dessert kadayif). Happy memories!
