Redwood Credit Union

I had $ 10k I wanted to place in either a money market account or an interest bearing savings account and thought I’d try my «local» credit union. What a nightmare! First, the phone number provided is not local and I’m placed on hold even though I hit the key stating I wanted to open an account… hello new customer here… so I hung up and googled the local branch number and was placed on hold again. When someone finally answered it still wasn’t the local branch. It was a call center!!! NEVER will I place my money with Redwood Credit Union. They obviously don’t need my money and It definitely has no local feel to it at all which is the whole point of a credit union. Bank of Marin here I come.
Oh and «ummmmm hellooo,» The second number I called was a local 707 area code Petaluma number. Pay attention!

Best around !!! The folks I talked to at the 800 number were in right in Santa Rosa. Ummmm helllooo — what company doesn’t have a toll free 800 number ?!. I opened my account, got a GREAT VISA (better than my Chase ripoff card) and moved my investments after talking to the very smart folks in Petaluma. It was clear they cared about ME. These people know how to do it !!

Been a satisfied customer for 15 years. Very helpful with my business and personal accounts. No complaints what so ever.

Getting on for 20 years with RCU. Always great to work with. Real people to talk to when you want who understand the local angle, lots of ATM and other non branch access. Used for everything anyone would want including international business. Cost is always modest if not free. Very happy.

Really, there is simply no reason to waste your money on fees at a big ‘for profit’ bank. I have used RCU for over 15 years and have never had a bad experience.

I love this credit union! We have a corporate account here, a payroll account, and personal checking accounts. We also did our recent car loan here. I find all the tellers, the Manager Nick, and Carol (who feels just like my own personal banker) to be professional, courteous, quick and responsive. I moved all our business from B of A years ago, and quite honestly, I’m a person who really expects service. At RCU, I get it. Super place. HIghly recommend.

I’ve had RCU for 11 years and have had great success with them. They’re very user friendly online and in person too.
They make banking easy, and simple for myself and my 4 year old. He loves going there!

Generally I love the credit union. I came here because I hated the impersonal service at my old «big bank».
Today however, I had a lousy experience.
I got to the bank right at closing time. As I headed for the door, an elderly lady walked up at the same time. I stepped aside to let her enter first. I noticed a bank employee running towards the door. I though this woman was being polite to the elderly woman and opening the door for her — imagine my surprise when instead the employee quickly locked the door, without a word to either of us. this woman obviously had business with the bank that required a person rather than a machine.
Was is a little after closing time? Probably. But this was still inexcusably rude. I would far rather encounter a locked door than have one barred right in front of me. Really, would it have killed them to at least help the older woman? Is this the service I can expect as i get older? Exactly what I don’t want in a local business. What a shame.
To the Branch Manager — please don’t ask me to call you. Just train your staff in common courtesy.

I am so happy with RCU since leaving Washington Mutual come Chase. I have inconsistent income with my own business and at times hover very low. With RCU I can set up safeties that do not require opening a line of credit. The fees are lower, and the bankers do not get commissions. As a credit union it is Not For Profit and you are a «partner» like all others that have accounts. It is a certified green business, a local business, and a bunch of great people working there — that speak not as puppets but as invested employees/​partners. RCU has never engaged in the risky lending that put other banks at risk. Also, they have a nice progran for children, «junior rangers» and at a certain age «junior partners». My kids each have an account and online access, including fun activities. A great bank.

Yes! The best!
This location is big and spacious. Although the location is kind of weird (shopping center?) there is plenty of parking.
The best part? Not one, but TWO drive-​through ATMS!
