This was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I have had in a while. My friend and I went in, we were trying on all kinds of shoes, the two guys were so excited and helpful it was actually a pleasant surprise, my friend got a pair of shoes and we moved on. We ended up at a different store and she found a pair of workout shoes that fit her better than the one she got at Sole Desire so we went in to return and this is when it go uncomfortable. One of the guys that had been so happy and excited was now rude, and his body language and attitude was so nasty it was actually awkward and uncomfortable. Since customer experience is such a big thing these days with so many choices, I was SHOCKED at his behavior and attitude towards us. I will NEVER go in this store again

This place is great! My favorite athletic shoes, the On Clouds, have come from here cause it’s the only store I can find them in and who doesn’t love supporting local businesses anyway right? Their customer service is so friendly and very helpful. When I found a pair of boots I fell in love with they were more than willing to order some for me in the right size and different color. It is pretty pricey so be prepared to burn a hole in your wallet but the quality of the shoes are well worth it!

Always a very friendly and helpful staff, but have gone in several times and they never have size 11 in the more attractive shoes. I have never bought shoes here and always leave disappointed and left feeling like I am freak with giant feet that the shoes makers forgot about(not to be over dramatic).

I have certainly purchased shoes here – no doubt. I have liked most of the shoes too. Just a couple of them fell apart too soon. But now that there are 14 stores that worries me. Which means a quaint & cool little shoes store is turning into a TARGET? It just can’t help becoming about volume and not the one on one. I got blasted at the Petlauma store with aggressive sales people – a bit too cheery if you will. Still good shoes too find there. A little iffy on returns too SD

Excellent service and selection here. I needed a non-slip sole shoe for catering work and this was the best place to get those amazing Danskos. Worth every penny.

The shoes they sell are fine. My disappointment is the fact they don’t stand behind their product. Once you’ve left their store and put those shoes on they’re done with you. I have spent at least $ 1200 in the Petaluma store in the past few years. On two occasions I had an issue with the shoes. I spent $ 140 on a pair of Josef Seibel shoes, which dug into the back of my foot. They suggested I wear bandaids. I have tried to wear them 3 or 4 times, but even with 2 or 3 bandaids it’s too painful. A pair of summer mules stretched within days of purchasing them. I noticed the display shoes were wide, so I asked if they ran that way, but the clerk said someone with wide feet tried them on. I soon realized it was the leather. I love to shop local and will spend more locally, but it appears this chain needs to change their policy and stand behind their product or they’ll find more and more customers like me will move on to the mall. I can buy Clark’s in Corte Madiera and know they will back up their product. Sorry Sole Desire, but you obviously don’t understand what customer service is all about.

There is nothing like the Sole Desire shoe store in Petaluma! Yeah, I’ve been to the one in San Rafael(bad service!) but I keep driving the extra miles to get to the BEST of the Sole Desire shoe stores in the Bay Area. Alexa is the manager and she’s absolutely great! She talked me into a pair of Danskos because I needed a good pair of shoes for an achy knee and my knee is better, I walk better, and I’m so thankful to her. I didn’t even know my real shoe size and she took the time to measure length and width to get the right size. She can even special order! I went back this weekend to get a pair of Uggs, even though I could have easily bought them at the store in San Rafael because I was standing right outside of it talking to a friend. But having been treated terribly there not once, but twice, I drove up to Petaluma and got my Uggs. Special mention to Denise in the Petaluma store who is one of the nicest sales people I’ve met! They should train people for other stores at this store. They have it all RIGHT!!!
