DH had spied this place while out on a bike ride one day and wanted to try it. We made a six pm reservation for Sunday evening, lured by their Thursday/Sunday evening special(21.95 for chicken or seafood dinner, or 24.95 for steak.) Were seated right away and made very welcome. We felt like we were getting a bargain considering dinner included both house-made clam chowder and salad, in addition to the entrée with vegetables and mashed potatoes. DH had the steak, and I had prime rib, and it was all delicious and more food than we could finish. We also had garlic bread with the chowder and I would go back for that alone. A rainy December night, the place was quiet and relaxed and the family staff who own and run this place(daughter was our server) were very attentive and friendly. The fireplace was so cozy and there was a football game on the TV in the corner if we had wanted to hang out and watch sports. A lovely way to end our weekend. We will definitely go back.

I ate dinner at this location about 5 months ago(currently Sept 2015) and was happy with the overall experience. The atmosphere, traditional and historical, is actually really fun. The town was once a center of activity for the ranchers there a century ago. Some historical buildings still exist. They have a full service bar with fireplace but when I was there, it was mostly used by people as they were waiting to be seated. That is to say, its not a drunk bar with locals sitting there without anything else to do. Location: Easy and enjoyable drive into the beautiful west county areas /ranch & farmland. Far west of highway 101 and on the way toward the coast. Parking: They have a large parking lot of their own and there is ample street parking. Reservations: They LOVE it when people ask for reservations and encourage it to help them as their staff is few in number and not staffed like a chain restaurant where extra personnel can be called during busy times. Food Portions: HUGE. I couldn’t eat all my plate of food & took some of the meat home. Biggest steak I’ve ever had put on a plate in front of me. Wine: The owners are somehow associated with their own vineyard and sell their own wines. Check out their wine storage room at the back side of the bar. Its not open to browse but you can view it through the windows. Outside seating: When I was there, they were in the process of rebuilding a beautiful outside deck with lighting. It wasn’t open for use yet, but wow… beautiful workmanship and Disneyland style hanging bulbs to give a soft glow after dark. Clothing attire: I wondered about this so we dressed moderately and not in jeans. It turned out that casual attire with jeans is fine as was our own moderate dress. If you’re a tourist and dressed up, thats not an issue. Except, you will look like a tourist :)

Had never been here but at one time Stormy’s had a good reputation. Tonight, a Saturday we showed up at about 7:00 pm. Only two or three tables occupied in the bar, dining room empty and nobody sitting at the bar. We sat in the bar. Great feel, funky old typical of the area but it kind of stops there. Very dark actually hard to read the menu with these 54 year old eyes. Stormy’s is very low key super casual again typical for the neighborhood and the kind of place I like to eat and drink. Soup was petty tasty, entrée not so great. My brother had a steak it was huge. I mean really huge but quality was just ok. I had a beef scaloppine dish. Just not very tasty, my nephew. Had prawns. We out on the coast, the seemed a bit over cooked and were just ok. Overall the menu is really limited I was kind of shocked. Most restaurants offer to much, Stormy’s did not have much to offer, the prime rib was sold out I think they had it on Friday and ran out by Saturday. Drinks were just ok, service was provided by a nice waitress but she forgot a few things and needed to be reminded. Parking is plentiful and again the night we went, the place was empty. We actually thought it was closed when we drove past but again years ago my sister and her husband eaten here and felt is was ok and might be worth another try. They were also disappointed with tonight’s meal and indicated they would not return. I felt Stormy’s was a bit costly considering the quality this is just a guess but they seemed to be kind of struggling.

Great atmosphere. Incredible steaks. The primerib is juicy and tender; exactly what you’d want in your prime rib. There aren’t enough words to describe how excellence of the ribeye steak. Bone-in, great cut, great flavor, cooked to perfection. The family-style chowder and salad are great starters. If you leave Stormy’s hungry, you did something wrong.

we chose to come to stormy’s for dinner after spending the day at the coast… we happened to choose the wrong evening and thus the three stars… saturday nite, large birthday party going on in the middle of the main restaurant area… we called early afternoon and were told there wouldn’t be any trouble getting a table at 6:30pm…wrong! you need a reservation… period! they definitely cater to the locals and we sat at the bar with another frustrated couple, who didn’t have a rez, and watched preferential treatment of seating go on for about an hour and then we got testy… management asked us if we would sit with the other couple which actually turned out to be delightful! the food was family style, which i like… a tasty, albeit thin, clam chowder with soft warm bread n butter… a nice green salad with a light vinagrette… and i chose a «side cut» new york which was about 10oz and grilled/blackened quite nicely medium… mashed potatoes were quite tasty as well… my GF had the«man» cut prime rib, which was requested for medium rare and actually came out rare… its, ok, plenty to take home… the other couple had a new york like me and an end cut prime rib which was perfection… so let’s just say they had an off night service-wise but the food was good! I’ll give ‘em another go but not on a friggin weekend!

Went early to get tickets to a play in Bloomfield. Thank God Stormy’s was open! Enjoyed a couple of drinks and the calamari appetizer with garlic bread in the bar. Met the friendly and attentive owner and his family, and learned a lot about the local history and the story behind Stormy’s. Was so impressed, we came back after the show to have dinner. Ended up sharing the huge prime rib which was roasted to perfection! Will definitely go back.

My steak was so badly charred on the outside that it was inedible. when I brought it to the attention of the waitress, she said she would talk to the chef /owner Roger and send him out. Roger didn’t come out, but she came back and accused my wife and I of complaining every time we go in there. I’ve only complained about a steak one time in there. She was very rude and actually refused to cook another steak. She did offer a piece of prime rib which I had and it was good, however because of her attitude we will never ever return to Stormy’s.

Been to Stormy’s about a dozen times — Wife loves the prime rib, I always get the huge NY Steak(and it’s always cooked perfectly). Awesome clam chowder. Great cocktails, friendly service and kid friendly We really enjoy the place, has great ambiance.

After 6 years of swearing never to return, I found myself in a moment of forgiveness and decided to return. What a huge mistake! Rude staff that I will refer to as the seating police, refused to seat us either near the fireplace or at the bar because they were«going» to be so busy. It’s such a shame because it’s a place you want to love but the service is so horrible you just can’t get past it. If the owners would hire some actual wait staff instead of using their completely unqualified family, I guarantee their business would improve. In addition, they really need to rethink their seating arrangements and open up or add to the warm, inviting fireplace room. Relegating your guests to sitting in an empty, cold, «adjacent» dining room is ridiculous and forces your wait staff to make rude decisions.

I was looking for a new«hidden gem» for date night and a friend recommended Stormy’s. I’d never heard of it, so I looked up their menu and was instantly excited! This evening we made the beautiful trek out to the restaurant from Petaluma. We were greeted by a warm atmosphere of friendly people and a cozy fire. We were seated promptly and we both gazed around admiringly at the rustic charm of the beautiful historic building. Having already perused the menu online, both my hubby and I knew what we wanted to eat. Our waitress(the owner’s daughter) was courteous, prompt, and had a great personality. We were in a bit of a time crunch and I wanted to try their fried chicken, but since it takes 40 minutes to cook she advised us that it wouldn’t work out timing wise. She even recommended that we call ahead next time so that they can get it going ahead of time! Instead we opted to share the 30 oz bone in rib eye and boy am I glad we didn’t order another entrée! Everything is served family style(with delicious clam chowder soup, house salad, and sourdough bread) and along with our appetizer(a generous portion of perfectly cooked calamari), we both were not only full, but also had leftovers! We both left satisfied and will definitely be returning. The icing on the cake was that our niece is named Stormy. Before leaving we noticed they had t-shirts, so we bought her one and she was thrilled when we gave it to her. I highly recommend this restaurant for a unique and delicious dining experience!

One and only time I have been there and will never go back again! The owners and daughter were so rude and completely unprofessional. We went for birthday party and there were 15plus people. Food came out wrong(waitress was giving rib eyes to people who ordered prime rib). When the guests at our table said«this is not what I ordered» they left it there in front of them. Owner said«she(as in daughter/waiters) wrote down what she heard» … In other words your going to eat what I have you. All of us got our food(right or wrong) expect for one of our guests who ordered a rib eye(which they clearly gave to the wrong person) when we all asked if he could get the food that he ordered they refused… Said he could only have prime rib. This whole thing turned into an argument because he said«no I want a rib eye»… The owners argued over it with him because it was going to take 20 minutes to cook(it was so painful to watch because they were just so unprofessional… Especially cause it was there mistake). I have never seen such horrible service ever!

Pretty surprising to find a lone place this good out in the sticks. It’s a nice drive out into the country and then you come upon a small town(maybe 4 old buildings) that gives you an «old west» feel to the place. The old pictures on the walls inside only confirm that feeling when you see a stage coach and the muddy«street» of yesteryear in front of the old place. The food. .. everything was superb. Large portions and fresh salads and veggies. Everyone in our party of four loved the meat too, also big portions. The service was excellent and again the atmosphere was very cool. Very friendly folks. Worth the drive from Petaluma or Santa Rosa and points in between.

I am not sure why this place has such low reviews. We thought it was amazing! Very unusual, old world charm, tasty food and friendly service. My boyfriend and I shared the rack of lamb dinner and it was delicious. Drinks were pretty good too. It was a nice dinner stop on the way back from Bodega Seafood festival. Kind of hard to find unless you know about it. We loved it.

Stormy’s is as old as the West County hills, and as much a permanent fixture. This is a great place for a relaxing meal and a great drink. The bar is fun, friendly with very generous pours. The specialty of the house is beef, and again, the portions are large(order a «side cut» if you don’t want a HUGE steak). Soup(generally chowder) and salad are served family style. I had dinner there last night with friends had the best steak I’ve had in a long time. Every meal for a table of six was served at the same time and everyone’s meal(ranging from prawns to prime rib) was cooked perfectly to each person’s specifications. The service is very friendly and not rushed.

I had not been to Stormy’s in over 15 years until last night. We had drinks at the bar that were great, made perfectly. Taylor was our bartender and then server because we were the last ones there. The soup was fabulous, tasty, hot and delicious. The salad was a typical green salad but it was nicely chilled and the dressing was good. Our prime rib dinners came out piping hot and were cooked to order, medium rare. The meat was tender and tasty. The creamy horseradish was blazing hot so be very timid with your portions. The dinner came with steamed vegetables and a yummy potato dish. I had the small dinner and couldn’t even eat a 1⁄3 of it. Although the food was excellent, the service from Taylor really made the experience perfect. She added to the night and was fun, efficient, prompt and went out of her way to please us. Can’t wait to go back!

I do not know what these horrible reviews are all about! We were a party of 10. The service was wonderful. Drinks well made and strong. Not to mention the food. Wow. Everyone was happy. We ordered fried prawns, prime rib and lamb chops. Yummy ice cream for dessert. Everything came out about the same time. Everything was yummy. Will be coming back again!

We invited our employees to dinner and we were not disappointed. The communication was wonderful and helpful in planning for a party of 14. We were offered menu items and they were quite accommodating when they discovered that we had a few with dietary restrictions. I preordered several appetizers and the only complaint was that the garlic bread was a little strong. Everything else was wonderful! Service was spot on… communication was great. I truly appreciate all of their hard work to accommodate us all! When dinners began arriving, I was pleasantly surprised! The fried chicken and prime rib dinners are generous portions! The prime rib was cooked perfectly and very flavorful! We will be returning soon!

First off I should have reviewed Unilocal prior to going to Stormy’s, I guarantee you I would have made a completely different decision as to where I would have spent my 69th birthday party. I raved to my family about how good Stormy’s was in the past. My husband and I visited Stormy’s many times in the past. I made reservations a day in advance as I knew from past experience that the place filled up fast. Well when we arrived there was no problem finding a parking place it was almost completely empty except for two cars. Since the parking lot is in the rear of the restaurant we got a great view of a collection of junk piled high outside the back of the restaurant along with a few older cars that appeared to be parked there for a while. As we entered the restaurant I noticed the porch area could use a good sweeping and cleaning. But the beautiful front door seemed out of place with the rest of the appearance. Upon entering the place a lady was standing at or near the bar area, she looked up at us with a frown! She then proceeded to say are you the 4:30 reservations and I told her yes. She didn’t say anything, instead she walked away and grabbed some menu’s. I then assumed she meant for us to follow her into the dining room. Other than a few people at the bar and one table in the bar area occupied the dining room she directed us to was empty. I figured it was because we were early. Since we were quickly seated I thought for sure it was going to be a good experience, little did I know that the people that work there may they be the owner or family members really do not care if they make their customers happy or not. After we were seated the waitress didn’t ask us if we were interested in ordering drinks. My son finally called her over to ask if we could order some drinks. Her look on her face told me she was very put off having to be asked. We ordered eight drinks she brought them out in stages on a tray rather than putting them all on the same tray and bringing them all together.(Oh and she was the bartender also.) I ordered kahlua and cream, it was so full of ice that it had very little drink in it. It also was in a very small glass. My son ordered a kamikaze. He has ordered this drink many times before so he knows how it should taste He took one sip of his drink and said oh no this isn’t right. He called the waitress over to the table to tell her, she then became irritated and told him in a very stern voice«She has never had anyone return a drink». Well there is always the first time for everything, the way she acted made everyone at the table uncomfortable. Then we were served very thinly ice cold French bread that was not fresh along with a large portion of very cold butter. When will these dinner houses learn to serve warm bread if they are going to serve cold butter or serve butter that is at room temperature if they choose not to warm their bread! We ordered two Hors d’oeuvres that she served one at a time rather both at once. We were served two large bowls of soup that they called clam chowder. It didn’t have any clams in it nor any clam favor. Instead it tasted more like a very thin and watery version of potato soup. The celery in it was large chunks that were only partially cooked. It also had some julienne sliced carrots in it and rather large chunks of onions. To top that off it was served warm not steaming hot the way soup should be served. We then received a salad that they had spent a lot of money on the ingredients, unfortunately it was basically pretty unfavorable except for the beets. My grandson ordered his steak well done, he asked for it crisped, she proceeded to tell him that it would not taste good and he said that was ok as that is how he wanted it cooked. His girl friend on the other hand ordered her steak rare. His steak came medium well not well done and his girl friends was medium rare not rare. When the waitress brought out the main entrees they were delivered to the table in stages rather than all at once. I was served my plate by an another lady who seem pretty perturbed with the whole thing. The sides consisted of a very small portion of mashed potatoes and vegetables . The waitress ignored us after that even though she only had two other tables seated. We had to call her over to our table to ask about dessert. She first told us she had several desserts that included cheese cake, but walked away only to return to say she only had the cream puff sundaes and did not have any cheese cake as they had ran out the night before. As we left my grand daughter spoke to the older women telling her how unhappy we were with the service. She in turn spat out the she had never had anyone return a drink in all her life. I told her she may want to look at why the dining room was basically empty. She just rolled her eyes. She was not interested in hearing any of our remarks. Good by Stormy’s last time for me there wasted my $ 600.
