The word gem comes to mind when I think of Stubbs. For years I’d biked up Wilson road not ever knowing what was at the end of the beautiful tree-lines driveway. I felt like we stumbled upon Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory because everything was so magical… From the African long horns to the hog to the barn, etc. The wine, too, is incredible. We all left with several bottles. Mary hosts the tasting in her dining room so it’s an intimate and cozy experience. I highly recommend checking this place out!

A few friends and I stumbled upon Stubbs Vineyards and it was one of the most delightful experiences I’ve had in a long time! It’s such a gem — the olive trees that lined the drive in, the beautiful home and structures scattered across the property, and the animals grazing on the land(Emus, Llamas, African Longhorns). Mary was a lovely host — she and her family have built a property that is magical. The view combined with great chardonnay and pinot noir — what an absolute treat! I can’t wait to go back.

I’m torn, Mary was very intense, but nice. It was kind of a last minute scheduling so she wasn’t really ready for us. She did heavy pours and we felt obligated to finish the wine, lucky for us it was delicious pinot! What I didn’t like was that while we were speaking she raved about a restaurant so much that I ended up going there for dinner and having literally one of the worst dining experiences ever. So, great wine, bad recommendations.

When I was doing my great Napa valley winery tour, we picked up one of the brochures and found this winery. It was not on the original plans, and we called to be sure they were open, the Owner — Mary, was there and gave us directions, we wound up at her house overlooking the vineyards! We got a tour of the vines and also tasting of her wines and olive oil. A wonderful experience. We still order by the case on a yearly basis. Small, home grown and friendly. All the best to Mary and her Husband and her children. When next I am in the area, will make a trip back to the Vineyard.
