I recommended The Hand Group, Inc. to someone for a major rehab. of a home
they purchased. A 203K Consultant I work with in the East Bay had been recommending contractors out of the area, and I wanted a local Contractor familiar with work in which they are paid via an FHA 203K rehab. loan. An associate in Petaluma had many positive experiences with Steve Hand as the Contractor on a number of these projects, and the home buyer liked what he learned in meeting with
Steve and through several conversations over the phone. Steve is a knowledgeable
and experienced contractor. The 203K certified consultant and home inspector
recommends what needs to be done and estimates costs. The home buyers can
get quotes from different contractors, and ultimately choose who they wish to work with. The borrowers own the home and are in the middle of the major rehab. project
and more than pleased with The Hand Group.

We were introduced to Steve Hand owner of «Hand Group, Inc.» by our Real Estate person. He seemed nice enough, but took one look at our charming 80’s old growth redwood house and suggested to pull off all the wood and redo it.
We knew better than to discard the beautiful old growth redwood!
Clearly he was not a good fit for us.
I would not recommend him based on him promising to us, in front of his wife —
that he would not make us pay for, and take wood that we would never use.
45 minutes later — that very thing happened — we inspected the wood that arrived that we did not want and he did not stick with his word.
This caused us great stress for days.
The lumber yard refused to give a refund.
Finally we negotiated and we decided to pay for and keep the wood for future projects.
It still sits in our garage.
Steve has now contacted us to clarify this review.
We don’t feel it’s right to discard this review, it’s what we experienced.
We hope you have clearer communication with him. He does seem like a nice guy and tried. Just these circumstances did not work out for us. We wish him the best.
